Chapter 1277
Two weeks later, Janna finally came back.
She hadn't been able to get in touch with Darwin for a bit, and it was giving her a bad feeling.
As soon as she got home, Janna called Fiona into her room.
Fiona spilled the beans about Darwin's condition.
Janna was floored.
"Do you really have to be with Darwin?" she asked, her voice low. "I don't care if you think I'm being harsh, but this kind of mental illness is incurable! Aiden was the best example of this before. You probably don't know about it, so let me fill you in."
"I know," Fiona said calmly. "Grandma, Aiden isn't just Darwin's uncle. Aiden is Darwin's biological father."
Janna's face twisted. "What are you talking about? Everyone knows Aiden was dead for three or four years before Darwin was born. How could he be Darwin's father?"
Fiona explained, "Brooke used Aiden's sperm that was stored before he died."
"Shut up!" Janna was in shock.
Everyone wanted to be part of high society, but Janna knew better than anyone that it was all just a shiny facade hiding a lot of dirt.
She'd heard and seen some crazy things, but what Fiona just said was a whole new level.
Fiona stayed quiet, letting Janna piece it together. "No wonder Anniston suddenly turned on Darwin, almost teaming up with old enemies to take him down. She must've found out the truth."
Fiona nodded.
Janna frowned deeply and took a couple of big gulps of water. "No wonder Darwin has the same illness as Aiden. I need to get a genetic specialist to check Charles and Chicago too!"
Her voice cracked. "If Charles and Chicago inherited this disease, I don't know if I can handle it!"
"Grandma, they've already been checked. They don't have it," Fiona quickly reassured her, seeing Janna's hands shaking with worry.
Janna said, "What do you mean they don't have it? Charles had sudden acute leukemia before. Who knows if it's a genetic defect from the Solomon family?"
"Grandma, I didn't tell you before because I was afraid you'd react like this." Fiona gently patted Janna's back. "You just asked if I only want to be with Darwin. Honestly, in my life, there's only Darwin. Whether it's the embarrassing past or the uncertain future, everything is tied to him."
Janna felt a mix of heartache and anger.
She raised her hand and hit Fiona's arm lightly. "Why are you so stubborn? What's so great about him?"
Janna only cared about Fiona, Charles, and Chicago.
She knew she didn't have many years left, and if she died, who would protect Charles and Chicago if Darwin lost it?
Fiona smiled and held Janna's hand. "I'm stubborn, just like everyone said you were when you were young!"
Janna replied, "I never let myself suffer for a man. When your grandpa treated me badly, I kicked him out immediately!"
"If Darwin were as bad as Grandpa, I'd kick him out too," Fiona said.
Janna was momentarily speechless.
Whether it was before or after the incident, Darwin had always been good, taking care of Janna, loving Charles and Chicago, and especially cherishing Fiona.
"Why did he have to get this illness?" Janna sat down, defeated. "By the way, are you still in touch with Harold?"
"No," Fiona replied.
Janna beat her chest in frustration again.
Then, she wanted to find out which expert was the best in this field.
Fiona stopped her, saying, "Grandma, Darwin is currently being treated by a very skilled professor. Don't worry, from the feedback so far, his episodes of hallucinations and delusions are becoming less frequent."
Janna looked at Fiona.
It had been a while since they last saw each other.
