Chapter 1307
The plane touched down in Bay City.
Fiona's workday was done, and she was timing her exit to pick up the kids from school.
She pulled into the parking lot.
Rose, unable to hold back any longer, ran after her. "Fiona, what do you mean by this?"
Fiona stopped and turned to face Rose. "What's up?"
"You keep me around but ignore me at every turn!" Rose's eyes were red. "You're just trying to humiliate me, aren't you?"
Fiona smirked. "Ms. Everhart, haven't you always said women shouldn't do this or that? I'm just treating you by your own standards, and now you feel ignored?"
Rose was stunned. "Stop twisting my words! When did I ever ask you to treat me like this?"
"Didn't you say women should be obedient? Not always seeking men's attention? Not being too assertive?" Fiona said slowly, "Today, I did my best to make you invisible and insignificant, and now you're not happy! So, other women need to be obedient, not attract men's attention, and not be assertive, but you can, right?"
Rose's face went pale.
She opened her mouth but had no idea how to counter Fiona. Yet she felt that Fiona was wrong.
"Ms. Everhart, regardless of gender, people live in this world seeking respect, whether it's a woman taking care of the family or a woman fighting in the workplace," Fiona said coldly, "The reason you feel uncomfortable today is because you feel disrespected. But if women don't assert their position in a male-dominated world, they will live as you described, and even basic respect will become a luxury."
"That's nonsense!" Rose gritted her teeth.
Fiona smiled. "If everyone did as you said, do you think you'd have the chance to attend a prestigious school? Maybe you would have been abandoned at birth because of your gender. If you're a beneficiary, don't flaunt your outdated ideas. If you want to earn my respect, show your true abilities. Otherwise, remain a marginal figure until Darwin comes home."
With that, she opened the car door and drove off.
Rose stood there, her mind in chaos from Fiona's words.
This wasn't right.
Her mother didn't say that, didn't teach her that way.
The parking lot was semi-open.
The wind blew in, and Rose shivered from the cold.
Fiona wasn't in a good mood today.
On the way to pick up Chicago and Charles, she called Hubert.
Darwin had been cooperating well with the treatment lately, but when it came to matters between him and Brooke, Darwin had nothing to say.
When asked, he just said he didn't remember.
Darwin's memory was like a giant puzzle at the moment. The part about Brooke remained a dark, incomplete piece.
Fiona briefly mentioned the incident with the slap.
Hubert and Fiona were in complete agreement.
That diary was a medium for Brooke's mental control over Darwin.
The painful words left by Aiden could all be visualized in young Darwin.
After the call ended, she was almost at Chicago's school.
Fiona perked up a bit, trying to look less irritated.
After Fiona left, Wyatt's assistant hurried to his side. "Lucian called home and said he wants to see your father."
"Okay." Wyatt nodded.
