Chapter 532 Failed Provocation

Crystal forgot how she left the place.

She returned home and headed straight into Chris’s study.

After scanning the room, she started rummaging around.

She searched for a long time and found nothing.

Growing frustrated, it struck her that Chris had a safe.

She headed to the bedroom, where she found it.

She tried Chris’s usual code.

It wouldn’t open.

After a pause, she decided to text Justin. "Do you have Thalassa's birthday?"

Justin replied promptly.

Though she was loath to try,

she clenched her teeth and used Thalassa’s birthday.

The safe opened.

Crystal’s heart leaped to her throat.

Trembling, she took out the contents.

A crystal picture frame, a keychain, and, a wallet.

She pulled everything out.

Turning the picture frame around, Crystal felt as if she would bleed from her eyes.

In the photo, Thalassa and Chris were kissing, the sweetness of the moment clearly captured even in just a single picture.

She remembered Chris’s recent agony.

Then, she saw the joy in his eyes as he kissed Thalassa.

Her heart felt like it was going to burst from the pain.

She picked up the keychain.

It had a small acrylic tag with a photo of Thalassa and Chris kissing.

Lastly was the wallet.

The wallet was beyond worn, the leather cracked and peeling.

Inside, it was empty except for a small, transparent sleeve on the side that held a passport-size photo.

In the photo, Thalassa looked like a middle schooler.

With a ponytail and big, sparkly eyes, there was a laugh lurking in her expression.

In the bottom right corner, faint markings remained.

It looked as if it had been peeled off from some form of identification.

Crystal's breath became heavy with difficulty.

It wasn't just four years.

Chris had been harboring feelings for Thalassa since back then.

Carefully stealing her ID photo and treasuring it in his wallet.

“Despicable,“ Crystal hissed through gritted teeth.

For Crystal, this day felt worse than being in hell.

She had always thought, since she was so smitten with Chris, she could eventually win him over no matter who he harbored in his heart.
However, now, Pandora's box had been flung open.
She discovered the person he had cherished in the depths of his soul for over a decade.

There was no way she could possibly win him back.

Unless they never saw each other again.

Crystal’s fists clenched tightly.

She took a photo of Thalassa and Chris kissing and sent it to Justin.

“I’ll make arrangements as soon as possible to settle abroad with Chris after the wedding. Please make sure you keep everything under control here,“ Crystal said with gravity.

Justin, on the other end, was nearly hysterical with joy.

He never imagined Crystal could be so efficient.

"Fine, I don't have much to look forward to here either. I've also been considering going abroad. Crystal, to prevent any complications, it's better you and Chris get married soon," Justin spoke genuinely with concern.

Once married, the two families would be tied together.

If any issues arose afterward.

They would be family matters, easier to handle.

"I got it." Crystal ended the call.

She put the items back and secured the safe.

Meanwhile, Justin didn't hesitate to contact Kenny.

The communication process was unexpectedly quick.

Two hours later, Justin met Kenny at a teahouse.
"Mr. Kenny, my apologies for earlier, I didn't recognize your stature," Justin said amiably and respectfully.

He had always fantasized.

As a man, no one could accept that their wife had such a sordid past.

By telling him, he was offering help.

He ought to be grateful.

"You know who I am, and after messing with my wife, you still have the guts to come to me?" Kenny tapped the tabletop lightly.

Justin responded tentatively, "Mr. Kenny, Thalassa must have told you a lot about our family's misdoings, right?"

Kenny observed him. "You've lived with her for so many years, don't you understand her at all? If she was the type to tattle, would you have enjoyed these past few years?"
Fiona and Fiona had long been dealt with.

However, it was all for the sake of Thalassa, regarding the face of the entire family.

Justin’s smile nearly cracked.

Kenny had indirectly said he owed his good life to Thalassa.

"You're quite fond of Thalassa." Justin didn't wait for Kenny to speak and seated himself opposite him. "I've noticed in our few encounters. I even advised Thalassa that even though you're not wealthy, it looks like true love. I told her to be serious about you..."

Kenny was silent, simply watching Justin with an unsettling intensity. Justin, feeling unnerved by the gaze but pressing on regardless, blurted out, “I asked to meet with you today because I don’t want you to be deceived by her innocent act any longer."

"What do you mean?" Kenny asked coldly.

"Let me just show you something." Justin pulled out his phone, scrolled to a newly received photo, and handed it over to Kenny.

Kenny glanced at the photo briefly. His expression turned darker upon seeing its content.

"Yes, it's exactly what you see." Justin fanned the flames immediately. "Shocking, isn't it? You're not the only one; I'm equally stunned! Even though there's no blood relation, Chris is supposed to be her brother of sorts. How could she do something like this?"

"You said it yourself; there's no blood relation. So, why can't she?" Kenny retorted.

Justin was taken aback. He stared at Kenny in disbelief. "What did you say?"

"There's no blood relation, so, why can't they? Besides, Chris is way older than Thalassa. Why don't you blame him for not controlling himself instead of blaming my wife? You must know how naive she is."

"It's not that..." Justin was flustered. This was not going as he had anticipated.

"When did she get together with you? I suspect she's been seeing you and my son at the same time," Justin continued to stir the pot, "That would be quite the cuckolding, wouldn't it?"

Kenny laughed, a chilling sound that made Justin's spine tingle.

"There's something you might not know." Kenny looked Justin in the eye. "From the moment I first laid eyes on Thalassa, I fell passionately in love with her. It then took me a mere half a day to dig up dirt on her and all the rubbish related to her—that includes you. I knew exactly when she split from Chris and why. It was I who, through meticulous planning and seizing the opportunity when she was being bullied by the lot of you, swooped in to marry her.

"I heard she was looking to buy land, so I personally presented her with the best plots available. Do you have any idea how anxious I was during those days? I was terrified that your useless pal son would try to win her back. Luckily, all of you played right into my hands."

Kenny glanced at the photo. "This trash? You think you can use it to drive a wedge between Thalassa and i?"

Justin had not anticipated this. Kenny seemed so tall, handsome, and wealthy. Perhaps, he could actually be such a pushover for love.

Justin gritted his teeth. Then, he would go to his parents. He was young, seduced by Thalassa. His parents wouldn't be.
