Chapter 333 Kenny Steps In
Kenny had gotten to know Thalassa. She might play favorites, and sometimes her loyalty might blind her, but she would never spread rumors or slander someone just because she was biased against them.
"Don’t you believe me?" Thalassa asked when she noticed Kenny was silent.
Kenny shook his head, "Of course not. I was just thinking, Darwin's always been cautious and skeptical. He wouldn't have just taken Lilian's word for it. He must have confirmed it before believing her."
"Who knows what kind of spell Lilian cast on him? And yes, Anniston and Grandma Solomon set up the royal connection, but Lilian was one hundred percent a willing participant!" Thalassa locked eyes with Kenny. "I’m not just making it up. I have evidence!"
A few moments later, Thalassa retrieved the surveillance video she had come across in the hospital, which showed Lilian arguing with her mother and brother. She handed it to Kenny. Kenny's furrowed his brows as he watched intently.
Meanwhile, Thalassa was relieved. “Thank goodness I was quick. When I saw what was happening, I had Burl, my amazing tech guy, swipe the video for us!”
After watching the video, Kenny turned to Thalassa with a smile, ruffled her hair affectionately, and said, “Mrs. Walker, you’re brilliant!”
“Of course I am!”
Thalassa was surprised to realize how accustomed she'd become to Kenny's praise, and just how much she enjoyed it.
“Let's go find Darwin and show him the video,” Thalassa said, turning serious. “If we don't deal with Lilian, it won’t just be my treasure who’ll be in danger. Charles and Chicago will both be at risk too!”
Charles and Chicago were just fragile children.
How could such a malicious person be allowed to linger around them?
“This video just shows that Lilian’s a liar who deceived Darwin, but it doesn't negate the fact that she saved his life.” Kenny’s hand tapped on the steering wheel thoughtfully. “Handing it to Darwin won’t do much.”
“So, what then...?” Thalassa's eyes met Kenny’s, which were filled with immense fondness.
Thalassa had a heart of gold. If she was handed a knife, she wouldn't dream of using it to hurt anyone.
“Mrs. Walker,” Kenny said gently, “what good does it do if only Darwin knows Lilian’s true colors?”
Thalassa was momentarily dumbfounded.
She might not harbor ill will, but she was no fool.
“Are you suggesting...?”
Kenny nodded slightly.
The couple shared an understanding without words.

That night, Darwin wasn’t at the hospital. He had gone back to his apartment.
It had been so long that the flowers in the vase had withered.
He wandered through his home, eventually pushing open the door to his study.
Many of Fiona’s belongings were still where she had left them.
Seating himself at the desk, he gazed at the crib for a long time before pulling a small stack of stationery from a drawer on the right.
He flattened a piece of paper and took up a pen.
At the top, he wrote, “Dear Charles. This is your father.”
Darwin spent the entire night writing two letters.
After sealing them in envelopes, he looked up at the window across from the desk.
The sparse lights twinkled dimly.
That year, she must have sat there, filled with joy and anticipation, composing those letters in a childlike manner.
She must have been sincere, looking forward to her new life with him as parents.
A sourness touched Darwin’s eyes.
He secured the two letters and dragged his weary feet out of the study, returning to the bedroom. He grabbed a pillow and a light blanket before heading back to the living room. He curled up his tall frame on the couch, tossing and turning for a while before finally drifting off into a shallow sleep.
Just as he fell asleep, someone posted a video with the provocative title: "The Secret Romance of Darwin and His First Love Unveiled" on a popular anonymous online forum.
The rubberneckers were jubilant and excited, anticipating a juicy scandal. They believed Darwin's seemingly fragile first love had finally had enough of being deceived and dishonored and were about to launch a fierce counterattack by releasing a passionate video with Darwin.
But when they clicked on the video, the mood of the viewers shifted from eager anticipation to somber seriousness. The comments exploded with ire.
"I was ready for some action, and this is what you give me? But seriously, has Darwin been kept in the dark about this?" one ranted.
"Oh, come on. Her image as his sweet first love has just been shattered. I thought they were deeply in love, and her family forced that wedding on her. It turns out she ditched him for royal splendor because she thought he was as good as a vegetable," another commented in disbelief.
"I have some inside information. Mr. Solomon really didn't know, guys. He thought that his own mother and grandmother worked together with the White family to force Lilian into marriage. And he believed that he was partly responsible for the domestic abuse and hardship Lilian suffered. That's why he went out of his way to look after Lilian over the years —emphasis on 'look after,' nothing more! Mr. Solomon has been a true gentleman for Secretary Woods," another user clarified.
"There’s no need to white-wash Mr. Solomon at a time like this. The internet never forgets. There were pictures of Darwin and Lilian on a business trip with suspicious marks on his neck!" someone else pointed out.
"Guys, it's been explained a hundred times—that was a mosquito bite..." a follower tried to dismiss the claim.
"So, has Lilian been stepping on Secretary Woods to build a facade of grace, beauty, and generosity all these years, only to turn out to be a manipulative witch?" another user questioned.
"I'm disgusted. I've shipped her and Darwin for years, and now it feels like I've swallowed trash," a disappointed fan expressed.
"Let's talk about something else. In the video, Lilian's relationship with her mother and brother seemed strained. Her brother even demanded money from her... And now, Lilian's mother has passed away, and no one knows where her brother is... It’s scary to think about!" someone speculated darkly.
As the forum debate raged on, the post and the video quickly spread across various platforms.
Unsurprisingly, Lilian's name shot to the top of the trending searches due to the shocking nature of the video, fueling a sudden surge in discussions.
Just yesterday, when Darwin announced his marriage, there were still people defending Lilian.
Today, they were turning their backs on her.
“I used to pity her for waiting five years for Darwin, thinking it was all about love. Turns out it was just business, huh? She ditched him for a life of luxury when he was at his lowest after that car wreck. But once he made a name for himself, she came crawling back, playing the devoted lover.
