Chapter 622 Get Buried with My Dead Child.

Initially, Lucas thought it was Darwin and Fiona engaging in jest. However, a confidant employed at a prestigious law firm clandestinely disclosed the reason behind the rejections. "They think you bully children, hence they won't take your case!"

Lucas stood stupefied.

‘He bullies children?

‘Look at the current situation, who is bullying who!’

After two tumultuous days, Lucas regained his senses. Yet, it was too late to rescind the impulsive Weibo post and subsequent self-destructive actions.

Before securing legal representation, a lawsuit notice arrived from Darwin's lawyer. Skipping the lawyer's letter, Lucas directly countersued.

The lawsuit centered on Lucas's involvement in online satire and an inadvertent like of a post regarding grievances with Darwin—alleged defamation and rumors, as per Darwin's consistent approach.

Nevertheless, Fiona intervened and heeded her son's counsel, mitigating the situation.

With the imminent Chicago art exhibition, Darwin delegated the legal matters to his team, preoccupied with the forthcoming event.

The address for Chicago’s art exhibition had been finalized months in advance. Preparations commenced two months prior.

Despite Chicago's modest standing in the art world, anticipation swelled, with many securing appointments and inquiries about purchases.

On the day before the exhibition, Darwin and Fiona conducted a final inspection together.

The venue, adorned in Chicago's distinctive style, emanated vibrancy, akin to another dimension.

"Chelsea!" Stuart's voice resounded, signaling completion of preparations. Fiona, however, appeared befuddled by the request to select a hanging time.

Stuart clarified, prompting Fiona's understanding.

Fiona chuckled. "Okay."

"I still have some things to attend to, so I'll be on my way. You two take a look on your own." Stuart's words hurriedly parted from his lips as he swiftly departed.

Ever since Stuart's memory loss, each day seemed to bring him joy, save for the day Lilian kidnapped Chicago.

Together, Fiona and Darwin stepped into the exhibition area. While the paintings remained concealed, meticulous cleaning had been completed. Compared to the flamboyant exterior, the interior exuded simplicity and purity.

Beams of light illuminated the white walls, marking the spots for hanging the paintings.

"It's truly remarkable. Our daughter is indeed having an art exhibition," Fiona marveled.

Darwin gently squeezed Fiona's hand. "This is just the beginning. More people will appreciate Chicago's masterpieces in the future."

Fiona smiled and nodded in agreement.

They meticulously combed through every corner to ensure nothing was overlooked before departing.

As Fiona passed a curtain, she halted abruptly.

"What's wrong?" Darwin asked.

Fiona lifted her gaze to the antique horn-shaped lamp above the curtain.

Despite the absence of wind, Fiona sensed a slight sway in the lamp.

Tomorrow, Chicago and the exhibition guests would gather here for speeches.

"Stuart," she called, turning to Stuart.

Stuart swiftly approached. "What's the matter?"

"Please remove this lamp. It doesn't fit the overall style," Fiona requested.

Stuart acted promptly, summoning someone to take down the lamp.

Before long, a tall, slender man arrived.

"Why remove such a lovely lamp?" The man's apologetic smile faltered. "We selected it meticulously to match the designer's vision..."

Fiona remained silent, her unease palpable.

"I simply dislike it. Please take it down," she asserted.

Despite the man's inclination to protest, Stuart intervened. "Enough talk. Get a ladder. I'll do it myself!"

"It's no trouble, let me handle it!" The man hastened to retrieve a ladder and carefully dismantled the lamp.

"What a beautiful lamp!" he remarked, covering it with a dust cover and stepping aside.

"Do you dislike that lamp?" Darwin inquired gently. "We have two similar ones at home. I can have them replaced."

The lamps at Emerald Pool were wall-mounted, leading to the cellar.

"No need." Fiona addressed Stuart before leading Darwin away, explaining her unease.

"I was concerned the lamp might fall and cause harm..."

Darwin nodded in understanding.

While others might perceive Fiona's caution as excessive, Darwin acknowledged it.

"It did seem unstable. Your caution in removing it was wise," he remarked.

The couple exited together, walking closely.

Meanwhile, the person who removed the lamp returned it to the warehouse, his expression darkening.

He retrieved his phone and sent a message, [The plan failed. I don't know if Fiona figured something out, but she had me take down the lamp.]

[Failed? How did you botch it?] came the reply.

The person frowned. [I was cautious. If not for my quick reflexes, they would've detected the lamp's tampering!]

[Think of another plan!]

[There's no alternative. You're not here, unaware of their tight security. They even restrict outside tools...]

[I don't care. One of the two children must die, to accompany that child!]

The man wore a helpless expression.

His aversion to harming children and pregnant women tormented him.

Regardless of the sum, it left him despondent.

[Very well, I'll handle it.]

[Don't forget, your disciple remains in my grasp. Hurry, or I'll send your disciple to accompany my wife and child first.]

The man furrowed his brow.

Curse Simon.

Despite his ex-wife's tragic demise, Simon remained fixated on her.

Simon's madness didn't concern him.

However, Simon's brazen abduction of his child compelled him to kill again.

And now, Simon demanded the death of a mere child!

"What are you doing here?"

A reprimanding voice startled him.

The man nervously bit his lip and pocketed his phone.

Feigning innocence, he smiled benignly. "Stuart, I'm just fixing a lamp. I'll be right there!" "
