Chapter 99 Cancellation

Janna adjusted her wrist bracelet.

"Son, from the Solomon family, have you thought this through? Are you truly going to clash with the Ross family over a woman?"

Her tone was straightforward, devoid of any hint of joy or anger.

"They wouldn't listen," Darwin replied.

Janna gave him a significant look. "And now? Are you still planning to marry Hathaway? I heard your wedding date has been set."

Darwin's gaze turned icy.

"Do they even deserve it?"

Janna glanced at him. Ultimately, she refrained from inquiring about how he intended to handle his relationship with Fiona. Marriages among these influential families always relied on alliances. If they didn't marry into one family, they'd marry into another. Janna had a rough understanding of Darwin. She knew he was extremely pragmatic, so how could he marry Fiona, who held no power?

Certainly, if Fiona relied on her, things might turn out differently. The Solomon family's kid never acted without purpose. He wouldn't assume responsibility for her without a motive.

"I'll be taking a friend's ashes to Yunnan for about three to four days. I'll arrange for someone to pick up Fiona then."

"Thank you, Mrs. Rhoads," Darwin nodded slightly.

Janna glanced at him, said nothing, and departed in the car, heading towards the airport.

Stuart observed Janna holding the urn and asked, "Do you genuinely intend to designate Miss Woods as the heir?"

Janna stayed silent for a moment, then shook her head.

"I initially had that plan, but... now that I know Jane has another living daughter, I have to find her first. If she can be groomed, I intend to pass on these family assets to her!"

Stuart nodded. After some interaction, Stuart rather liked Fiona.

"It would be splendid if Miss Woods is your granddaughter!" he murmured.

Janna smiled.

Musing to herself, "Yes, that would be marvelous."

But Janna knew it was improbable. Fiona bore no resemblance to Jane or her disobedient son whatsoever. She had confirmed it. Fiona's parents had passed away when she was born, and she was raised by her grandparents. Raised by a grandmother, as the lawyer informed Janna.

Based on what Jane and Joshua had said, the child lived with her grandmother.

"Oh, right." Stuart straightened up, a hint of disgust in his expression. "The young master and young mistress are also dispatching people to locate that child! We mustn't let them find the child first!"

"Keep an eye on them!"

Janna scowled in disgust. Stuart acknowledged with a nod.

Meanwhile, at the Solomon family compound, Darwin entered with a chilling sensation.

Anniston was consoling Hathaway. Upon Darwin's arrival, she promptly slammed the armrest of the sofa. "Darwin, explain to me about Eric's situation!"

Hathaway wept while attempting to restrain Anniston. "Mom, there must be a misunderstanding. Darwin must have been manipulated too!"

Darwin regarded her coldly, then sat down and said, "Miss Ross, please tell me, what might this misunderstanding be?"

Anniston sneered and tossed a stack of documents in front of Darwin. "Take a look for yourself. This is the proof that Fiona has been covertly associating with our mortal enemies. The incident with Eric is her scheme, aimed at rupturing the relationship between the Solomons and the Ross family!"

Darwin took the documents and perused them indifferently.

"Fortunately, your father-in-law is rational and only insists that you surrender the mastermind, Fiona, to face the consequences from the Ross family. Our engagement with the Ross family remains intact. Oh, and what about Eric?" Anniston inquired in a low voice.

"Who knows?" Darwin flung the thick stack of documents he held onto the coffee table.

"Mr. Solomon, what is the meaning of that? Weren't you the one who broke into Mr. Eric's estate last night and took him away?" Jones couldn't bear it anymore.

Fortunately, Miss Ross was present to support Darwin.

"Where's the evidence?" Darwin demanded.

Jones's face froze. Upon learning about the incident the previous day, Jones promptly had someone retrieve all the surveillance footage from Mr. Eric's side.

But...

All the data had been wiped. And all the servants in that house had vanished without a trace.

"Enough, we'll discuss Eric's situation later. Hand over Fiona first!" Anniston detested Fiona so intensely that she could nearly breathe fire.

Now that she had the opportunity, how could she not strike a fatal blow?

Meanwhile, Hathaway remained silent, maintaining her gentle and innocent demeanor.

"Don't even dare claim that you fabricated this false evidence," Darwin chuckled coldly. "Even if Fiona truly betrayed me, I'll handle it personally. Hand her over to someone else? Not a chance!"

"You ungrateful child!"

Anniston suddenly stood up.

Hathaway's composure started deteriorating, her complexion growing increasingly ghastly.

"Do you realize, Hathaway, how long it took for her to plead for her father?" Hathaway's face turned ashen, tears occasionally rolling down her cheeks.

"Miss Ross, I have just one question." Darwin looked at her, his eyes a captivating whirlpool, capturing Hathaway's attention.

"Our families have maintained a strong partnership, yet Eric initiated hostilities against my people, disrupting the equilibrium in our relationship. Now... does your family imply that Eric can represent the Ross family?" Hathaway paused momentarily, then instinctively denied, "Of course, he cannot represent us!"

Darwin nodded. "Since he doesn't represent the Ross family, can we consider yesterday's incident a personal feud between him and me?"

"This isn't about you and Eric; it's about Fiona!" Anniston vehemently attempted to separate Darwin from the situation. "Darwin, what spell has Fiona cast on you? You've been acting this way because of her! Hathaway is your fiancée, and soon you'll be a family..."

Hathaway glanced at Darwin and suddenly recalled his warning about ending their engagement in the sanatorium parking lot. A shiver ran down her spine.

"Mom, please stop!" she spoke in a deep voice. "Darwin is right. It was Eric's recklessness that caused this incident!"

Anniston glared at Hathaway, grinding her teeth. "Darwin, I'll continue persuading my father not to trouble Miss Fiona." Hathaway paused briefly. "Please trust me, this incident truly has nothing to do with me. I've never harbored any hostility toward Miss Fiona!"

Anniston couldn't endure it any longer. She shielded Hathaway and yelled at the top of her lungs, "Darwin, don't you dare bully Hathaway too much! It was Eric who caused this, yet you sent his henchmen to Hathaway's place in the dead of night..."

"Does Miss Ross feel aggrieved?" Darwin enunciated each word deliberately.

Hathaway's countenance remained devoid of color. "It's fine," Darwin stood up. "I, Darwin, never coerce others. If you feel wronged, you can propose breaking off the engagement anytime."

Instantly, the living room of the Solomon family's ancestral mansion was so silent that a pin drop could be heard.

"Darwin, are you insane?" Anniston exclaimed, as

if fearful that Hathaway might agree. She immediately grasped Hathaway's cold hand tightly. "Hathaway, don't listen to his nonsense!"
