Chapter 1090

Hubert stood there, slightly stunned.

To him, the fact that Fiona was willing to spend money and time to find him for Patricia showed that Patricia was quite important to her.

"Got it." Hubert didn't ask for a reason. "Do you remember the promise you made over the phone last time, to treat me to a meal when I get back to Bay City?"

"Of course, Dr. Hubert. Whenever you're available, just let me know, and I'll arrange it."

"Alright."

Hubert hadn't finished speaking, then came the sound of a door opening.

"I have something to do now, I'll contact you later," Hubert said immediately.

"Okay."

The call ended.

Hubert put away his phone and looked at Betty, who had just walked in.

She asked, "Dr. Hubert, how is it?"

Patricia's treatment had been going well, and Betty had been very happy during this time.

However, in just one night, she seemed to have aged twenty years, with most of her hair turning white.

Betty never expected that a momentary lapse on her part would lead to such a big problem.

When Alexander, whom she had been able to contact all along, called yesterday, she had no idea that something so terrible was happening on the other end.

It wasn't until a kid at home went online and saw Angela that Betty was informed of what had happened.

She hurriedly called Alexander, whom she could still reach.

She wanted to apologize and explain, but the call couldn't go through anymore.

Patricia's treatment had shown initial results, and Betty was very worried that her treatment would be stopped because of this incident.

She barely slept all night.

Betty couldn't count how many times she had slapped herself.

After thinking it over, she could only turn to Hubert.

"What happened between you two?" Hubert asked.

He wasn't interested in online news, so he naturally didn't know the current hot topics.

"It's really not our fault! I never thought Angela would have such an idea!" Betty immediately started crying, "When I told her about it before, she said I was being scammed. Who knew she would take her daughter to the church right away!"

Through her intermittent sobbing, Hubert roughly pieced together the whole story.

"So, because you didn't keep your promise and told others about the kind person who generously paid for your daughter's treatment, a child who was about to be adopted was killed on the spot by a patient with a sudden illness. And the person who was about to adopt the murdered child was one of the kind people helping your daughter?"

"That's right!"

"Got it." Hubert nodded. He spoke calmly from start to finish, even when hearing such shocking news, it didn't stir his emotions. "She asked me to tell you that she wouldn't take out her anger on Patricia because of your stupidity. The treatment will continue."

Betty was shocked.

Suddenly, her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the ground, covering her face and wailing. "If I had known that I would cause that child's death, I would have sewn my mouth shut with a needle rather than say anything!"

Hubert stood up, walked over to Betty, squatted down, and gently patted her shoulder. "Patricia is still affected by the emotions of her family. It's okay to break down and cry here with me, but don't take those emotions outside."

Betty nodded repeatedly.

She calmed herself down at Hubert's place.

After wiping her tears and thanking him, she left.

Hubert stood up, looking at the door that hadn't closed completely.

Betty's thin figure had already disappeared.

Hubert walked back to the table, picked up some alcohol, sprayed it on his hands several times, and slowly wiped them dry.

Then, he called his assistant.

"Confirm my schedule for the near future." Hubert looked at the calendar, as if he had thought of something, and added, "Avoid the time when Armie's kid starts school."
