Chapter 719 Injuries

Most of the islanders were familiar with Christopher. Wherever Fiona went, he would follow, and his presence was strongly felt. Therefore, Christopher had a strong deterrent effect.

When Christopher appeared, the islanders who were pulling at Gray immediately stepped back a few paces. "Why are you coming over to our side?" one of the bolder ones asked.

"Your side? The whole island belongs to my boss. There is no place for you," Christopher sneered.

"We haven't moved yet. This is still our territory!" the same person shouted back with courage.

"Tsk, I already consider myself a fool, but how can you be even more foolish? What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You!"

Christopher didn't say anything pleasant, which infuriated the islanders.

"Now you are all squatters, refusing to leave someone else's place. Besides, you resorted to fighting. Are you trying to cause a death and extort money from our boss? Are you all going insane because of poverty?"

Christopher continued to provoke them.

"Christopher." Fiona's voice came from behind him.

The islanders' gaze shifted toward her.

Upon seeing Fiona, some people had a look of realization. "Gray, you still say you didn't collude with them? They came looking for you, didn't they?"

"No, I didn't!" Gray dared not look at Fiona and was also afraid she would discover Darwin in her house, causing her extreme distress.

"I heard someone just now yelling about my company giving this family extra money?" Fiona's tone was cold and carried an oppressive aura. "Do you have any evidence? If you do, bring them out. In addition to the money for your relocation, I will reward you with five million."

"Five million?"

Everyone was shocked.

"Yes, in my company, this kind of behavior, manipulating and extorting money to get things done, would absolutely not be allowed. If there really were someone who gave extra money to persuade these people to move, even if it was ten or twenty thousand dollars, I would severely punish them and consider whether to report them to the police for extortion," Fiona said calmly.

Gray's face grew livid, and she waved his hands repeatedly. "Fiona, I really didn't take any extra money. We just don't want to go through all this anymore. Cyrus said you are a kind-hearted person who always does good deeds, and I don't want to make things difficult for a good person, so that's why we decided to leave!"

Gray looked like a very honest and meek person.

Her teary-eyed appearance made Gray even more pitiful.

"Fiona, let me tell you the truth. Initially, we reluctantly agreed to move. It was this family's daughter and son-in-law who kept instigating us not to give up our homeland. They said there was a way to preserve our area, and it was because of their words that we decided to stand firm against you!" a woman shouted loudly.

"That's right! Now that Gray has given up and decided to move, suddenly, we are the troublemakers who try to extort more money!"

Everyone's emotions began to escalate again.

"In that case, why don't we all sit down peacefully and have a good talk with Fiona? They're moving away, so you've lost your leader. If you continue like this, I'm afraid you will end up losing more than you gain," Harold said calmly.

The islanders looked at each other, their faces becoming increasingly gloomy.

Those who were willing to leave had already taken the money and left half a year ago.

Some of the remaining people were aiming to get more money, but the majority of them simply couldn't bear leaving the home where they grew up.

Because of Aura's fiancé, they finally saw the hope of being able to stay.

And now they were asked to give up this hope willingly.

No one was willing.

Gray's gaze swept over Harold.

It was indeed the same man from that day.

"What are you all doing?"

At that moment, Aura's voice came from behind the crowd.

Everyone immediately looked over.

They saw Aura holding an iron rod, striding over with fierce momentum.

"You bastards, how many of you have received the kindness of my father and mother since you were young? If it weren't for our help, you would all be in dire straits by now! We don't want to cause trouble anymore. We just want to live peaceful lives. Who are you to not allow us?"

As Aura spoke, she noticed the two scratch marks on Gray's neck.

And then she broke out.

"Who laid a hand on my mother?"

As she finished speaking, Aura's gaze locked onto a woman who tried to avoid her eyes, and she raised the rod and pointed at her, "Is it you?"

"I did grab her collar, but it wasn't intentional. Why are you so aggressive? You should call me Auntie and show some respect!"

In the next second, Aura kicked her out.

The conflict between the islanders was about to erupt.

Harold wanted to keep Fiona away. He took two steps back. Suddenly, Fiona noticed a three or four-year-old child in the crowd, crying loudly as the adults bumped into him. The adults didn't even notice her.

Fiona could feel that the child's body was about to be stepped on. She was horrified. As a mother, she couldn't ignore a child in danger. It was almost instinctive. She ran toward the child and quickly scooped him up in her arms.

In the next second, a stone flew toward her from somewhere. Fiona felt a sharp pain in her right eye. She heard Christopher and Harold shout, "Ma'am!!!" and "Fiona!!!"

Christopher's voice was thunderous. The fighting crowd immediately stopped and looked toward Fiona.

"Lily!!" The child's grandmother ran over in shock when she saw her granddaughter crying in Fiona's arms.

"You're fighting when you are with such a young child? What are you thinking?" Fiona scolded the child's grandmother while covering her stinging right eye. The child's grandmother quickly held the crying child and then looked at Fiona in horror, saying, "Blood, blood."

Aura stood in front of the crowd, watching as blood dripped from Fiona's fingers onto the sandy ground.

"Don't be scared, Fiona. I'll call a helicopter right now and take you to the hospital. You're going to be fine. Nothing bad will happen!" Harold's face turned pale from fear. He wondered why he hadn't held onto Fiona earlier.

"I have a sand car where I live. Let the medical team come and assess the injury first," Fiona said with a pale face, worried about how to explain to her son and daughter later.

Christopher immediately made a phone call. Cyrus heard the commotion and ran out. He hadn't seen Fiona yet, but he heard the panicked islanders saying, "Fiona is injured. She won't let us go now. What do we do? We should have moved away when we took the money."

Injured? Cyrus's heart suddenly trembled. He pushed through the crowd and immediately saw Fiona. Her hand was covered in blood as she held her eye.
