Chapter 1105
The adults were acting like kids.
Burl and Preston were arguing over a game.
Fiona tried to step in but got brushed off as too childish.
Finally, she convinced Burl to take on Preston and glanced at Darwin.
Darwin was lounging on the sofa, texting, looking unusually gentle.
Fiona noticed Darwin acting weird today.
He used to be so busy even wouldn't text back all day, but he'd always call during lunch, even before they patched things up. Now, he wasn't as swamped with the Solomons' business.
Fiona stared at her fingertips.
Darwin's old scars had healed, but he hated how they looked and used a special ointment, giving him a faint medicinal smell. Today, though, he smelled like disinfectant.
After the adults messed around for a bit, it was time for the kids to go to bed.
Fiona asked Darwin to tell Chicago a bedtime story.
Once he was in Chicago's room, Fiona slipped out and found Xavier chatting with Christopher.
"Mrs. Solomon," Christopher noticed her right away and greeted her.
Xavier quickly followed suit, looking as usual.
But Fiona wasn't expecting answers just from his expression.
"Christopher, I need to talk to Xavier," Fiona said bluntly.
Christopher nodded and went off to patrol.
"Mrs. Solomon, what's up?" Xavier stepped forward. "Need something?"
"You work for Mr. Solomon, so I shouldn't pry into his business," Fiona said calmly. "But, Xavier, Mr. Solomon isn't the familiar. He's... different, you get me?"
"I get it," Xavier said, eyes downcast.
But he didn't elaborate.
Fiona was right; he was Darwin's guy. Between Fiona and Darwin, Darwin always came first unless he said otherwise.
If Darwin didn't want Fiona to know something, Xavier wouldn't spill.
Fiona nodded knowingly. "So, you're not gonna tell me where Mr. Solomon went today or who he met, right?"
Xavier looked up quickly. "Mrs. Solomon, Mr. Solomon only has eyes for you. There's no other woman!"
Fiona stayed silent.
"Did someone say something to you?" Xavier's face turned fierce. "Mr. Solomon and you have been through a lot. Is someone trying to mess it? I can't stand those people. Tell me who it is, and I'll handle it!"
Fiona gave Xavier a meaningful look.
Xavier felt a chill but stubbornly said, "Mrs. Solomon, Mr. Solomon is truly devoted to you!"
"I know better than you if he's sincere," Fiona said, turning to leave. "Remember to bring back Mr. Solomon's cane tomorrow. It's precious."
"Yes!" Xavier agreed immediately.
After Fiona left, he felt helpless.
How was he supposed to know where the cane was?
He'd have to ask Darwin tomorrow.
The next day, Darwin got up early.
