Chapter 998

He recalled the time he was caught secretly cooking. The church intended to punish him.

Father Alexander knelt outside the church and said, "The food in the church's dining hall is inedible. One cannot grow tall without eating."

Although his protest did not ultimately save him from punishment, they allowed him to cook afterward.

It was said that Father Ben, at the time, even called the head chef of the church's dining hall for a serious conversation, hoping to improve the taste. In retrospect, that chef was quite stubborn, as the food had remained unpalatable for decades.

"For so many years, you young ones have found your ways, some leaving the church, some going to other churches. Only I have stayed by Father Ben's side," Liam remarked softly.

Stella, full of empathy, said, "Father Ben and Liam must miss everyone a lot, right?"

Liam took a bite of his food. "There's nothing to miss."

Stella blinked. She thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and the entire table of dishes was devoured.

In the end, Alexander helped her out of Liam's room.

Liam, though not particularly dislike Stella, looked resigned. "Father Alexander, you should at least teach her some moderation in eating."

"Liam, the main responsibility lies with you. It was so delicious, I couldn't control myself," Stella protested.

Liam remained silent.

"No worries, I'll walk with her more," Alexander said with a gentle smile.

Stella waved her hand. "No need, I'll walk by myself. You go check on Father Ben."

"No..." Before Alexander could finish his refusal, Stella made a stopping gesture.

She said, "Are you afraid I'll get lost in my own home? Be good; I'll wander around and then take a nap!"

With that, Stella brushed off Alexander's supporting hand and left.

Alexander found it both amusing and exasperating.

Liam reacted. "Wait, when did this place become her home?"

Alexander laughed as he walked with Liam towards Father Ben's room. "She was just speaking casually, Liam. Don't take it to heart."

"Are you just going to indulge her like this?" Liam said, who held rules close to his heart, felt that Stella was somewhat too unruly.

"What else can I do?" Alexander glanced at Liam. "She is the one I once longed for."

Liam blushed.

"I don't understand you people! Anyway, don't talk nonsense in front of Father Ben!" he said, quickening his pace and rushing forward.

Alexander's eyes were filled with laughter.

Stella, feeling too full to be sleepy, decided to find Mason to play.

When she found Mason, unfortunately, she saw Patricia, in a fit of rage, pushing Mason down. Mason fell to the ground, landing painfully on his backside.

"What are you doing?" Stella immediately rushed over, picked Mason up, and then looked at Patricia.

"Stop!" Mason grabbed Stella's arm, dragging her away from Patricia.

"I'm sorry!" Patricia suddenly changed her expression, looking terrified as she held her head. "I didn't mean to."

"Useless!" In the next second, Patricia's face changed again, becoming extremely fierce. "All you know is to say sorry. You'll be saying sorry for the rest of your life. Who exactly are you apologizing to?"

Stella stood there, shocked.

She watched as the church's followers and Patricia's family members held her down.

Then, she saw those family members take out ropes and quickly tie Patricia up tightly.
