Chapter 1355
"Hey Mike, do you believe in anything?" Fiona asked out of nowhere.
Mike looked a bit confused but answered honestly, "Depends. If it's about Mrs. Rhoads and you, then I don't really have any beliefs."
Fiona chuckled softly, "Well, in that case, I need you to do something for me..."
She leaned in and whispered, "After Rose leaves Cyberia, dig up Odette's grave for me."
"What?" Mike was taken aback.
"If your beliefs stop you from doing it, find someone who doesn't mind and have them open Odette's grave. See if there's anything besides bones in there," Fiona's tone turned serious.
Mike knew Fiona well.
She was usually pretty reasonable. Even if someone had wronged her, once they were dead, she considered the matter settled. Of course, Robert was an exception; he was a monster in life and didn't deserve any respect, even in death.
Digging up a grave, especially of someone you don't know, felt really invasive and disrespectful. But Fiona said, "Just do it."
Mike replied, "Got it."
The call ended.
Fiona got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
The view from the top of the city was amazing.
She rubbed her knuckles.
Ever since she met Vespera and found out Nathaniel's death was no accident, Fiona had been thinking about everyone who had access to Nathaniel's meds.
There was one person she had overlooked because of their age and status.
That was Odette, who was only about ten years old at the time.
Marisole took care of her, and they were close.
Odette seemed like a minor character in Marisole and Aiden's story, only mentioned when talking about Marisole's family.
Otherwise, she was practically invisible.
But when Fiona thought about it, she realized Odette had been living with Marisole since Marisole started seeing Aiden.
No one could confirm it back then, but what were the chances Marisole would let Odette live alone after coming back to the country, considering how young she was?
Aiden wouldn't ignore Odette's importance to Marisole.
Wouldn't he bring Odette to live with Marisole?
Fiona had no idea what kind of person Odette was now.
But where did Rose's twisted values come from?
Odette died young, and later, Rose was raised by Brooke, surrounded by Hubert's gentle presence. Fiona guessed Rose's values probably came from Odette.
Plus, Rose had said more than once that Aiden and Darwin got sick because Fiona and Brooke were too domineering.
Those words.
If nothing else, Rose must have heard them from Odette.
The thought sent a chill down Fiona's spine.
Just then, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
"Come in," Fiona said, walking back to her desk and sitting down.
