Chapter 1095

Then, Fiona answered the phone right in front of Darwin.

"Wyatt?" she began.

There was a lot of static on the other line.

The signal probably wasn't very good.

"How did you know?" Wyatt's voice came through.

Fiona raised an eyebrow at Darwin, as if to say, "Impressive, right?"

Darwin smiled and gave her a thumbs-up.

"At this time, for any unknown overseas number, I'll just assume it's yours," Fiona replied.

There was an awkward laugh on the other line.

After a moment of silence, Wyatt said, "I just found some signal and saw the news about Stella online. Is she okay?"

"What do you think?" Fiona retorted.

"Not good," Wyatt answered after a moment of silence. "What is Alexander doing? Why did she have to go through this so soon after getting married?"

"You're wrong." Fiona tapped the table lightly. "What does this have to do with Alexander?"

Wyatt's breathing was heavy.

There was the sound of wind on the other line.

"Think of something to cheer her up," Wyatt said absurdly.

"Wyatt, what's wrong with you? You want my wife to cheer up your ex-girlfriend?" Darwin interjected.

"Are you there too?" Wyatt exclaimed.

Fiona laughed and replied, "It would be strange if we weren't together, wouldn't it?"

Wyatt fell silent.

Compared to the last time they met, his despondency and hopelessness had lessened, showing he had more energy now.

Wyatt ansered, "Alright. I won't disturb your sweet daily life. Tomorrow morning, a pastry chef will deliver a cake. Just say you ordered it; she loves that chef's cakes."

"Wyatt, when are you coming back?" Fiona asked instead of responding.

Wyatt was currently in a state of complete unreachability.

It was hard enough to get in touch with him.

But the Durham family matters needed to be clarified.

"Who knows? The world is much bigger and more interesting than I imagined. It might take a lifetime to see it all," Wyatt said with a self-deprecating tone, "I never understood why Stella loved going to these remote places. Now I know that every plant and tree in these places is truly impressive."

Hearing Wyatt say this, Fiona had some words on the tip of her tongue but hesitated to say them.

Wyatt was born as the heir to the Durhams, carrying that halo and shackle all his life.

Now, he was starting to become free. But she had to persuade him to put the shackles back on.

"Did you know something happened to your family?" Before Fiona could hesitate further, Darwin put down his fork, elegantly wiped his mouth, and coldly spoke.

Fiona fell silent.

There was silence on the other line too.

"I no longer belong to the Durham family. Whatever happens to them has nothing to do with me," Wyatt replied calmly.

Darwin showed no expression.

He bluntly said, "Because of your grandfather's relationship with the Rhoads Group, my wife and Grandma Janna will support the Durham family for a few months to ensure your parents and others won't be harmed. But it can only last a few months. I'm telling you the worst-case scenario; the choice is yours."

"Darwin, have you regained your memory?" Wyatt asked.

"No, why?" Darwin frowned, instinctively looking at Fiona across from him.

"Nothing, just hearing you talk makes me want to punch you."

"Goodbye."

Darwin hung up directly.

Fiona hadn't finished speaking. She looked helplessly at the disconnected call screen.
