Chapter 1338
No wonder Vespera didn't want to give Jasper anything.
He didn't even show up for her funeral, but here he is for the inheritance.
"Hey." Fiona ignored Jasper's outstretched hand and responded coldly. "Is everyone here? Has the lawyer arrived?" she asked.
"Right here!" Jasper pointed to the few people standing with him.
"Alright, let's get this over with." Fiona sat down and said, "Vespera always wanted everyone to get along. Since my husband was raised by her, I ask that you all stay calm and handle any issues respectfully. Let's not make this harder than it needs to be."
The Blacksmith family members had mixed reactions.
"Before we get to the will, let's figure out what's missing from my grandmother's room," Jasper said. "We all know what she had, but now some valuable items are gone."
"Christopher." Fiona cut Jasper off before he could get any more sarcastic.
Christopher brought over a big TV.
He said, "Now, I'm going to show you records of Ms. Vespera's donations to various charities over the past twenty years, along with the legal documents."
Hearing this, the Blacksmith family members started whispering. "Donations?"
"When did this happen, and why didn't we know about it?"
Fiona pretended not to hear, playing with Chicago's hand.
Soon, the screen showed Vespera's earliest donation record, even before Emrys was born.
The donated item was a pair of diamond earrings that originally belonged to Vespera. They were given to her by Brooke, who didn't want them anymore. Vespera felt she didn't deserve such luxury and, after seeing an ad for a charity supporting girls' education, decided to donate the earrings.
This was the start of Vespera's charitable journey.
"That's impossible! Emrys, you must have forged this! You might fool us, but do you think you can deceive Mrs. Solomon's trust in you?" Jasper shouted angrily.
If it weren't for Fiona's bodyguards, he might have started a fight.
Emrys, no longer silent and cowering like yesterday, said, "Jasper, I didn't know about Grandma's donations to charity either! Stop making things up!"
Jasper yelled, "Mrs. Solomon, Emrys is very deceitful. Don't be fooled by him; these must be fake! Grandma had so many children; why would she donate her things? She would definitely leave them to us!"
"You misunderstand." Fiona's gaze was cold. "These records weren't provided by Emrys. I had someone investigate them. Since your family mentioned it, we had to find out where they went, didn't we?"
"You investigated?" Jasper was stunned.
"All the information was obtained from legitimate institutions, and the legal documents have codes you can verify at any time." Fiona looked at the lawyer Jasper had brought. "You know how to do that, right?" she spoke gently, without any intimidation.
For some reason, those facing her felt oppressed and couldn't lift their heads.
One of them replied, "We know."
"Good." Fiona turned her gaze back to Jasper. "You just said Vespera had so many children. I'm also puzzled as to why she donated her things."
Jasper's face turned sour.
"Mrs. Solomon, after all, this is our family matter. Aren't you interfering too much?" he asked.
Fiona smiled and said, "Today, I will personally handle this matter to the end. Vespera loved Emrys, and I can't let him be bullied after her passing."
Jasper's mouth twitched.
Christopher stood next to Fiona, his gaze sharp and penetrating as it locked onto Jasper.
Then Vivienne, Jasper's mother, immediately stepped forward to pull Jasper away.
