Chapter 1266
Fiona shot her a grin. "You know, it's pretty rare to see someone as cocky as you when job hunting, Ms. Everhart."
"Ms. Woods, isn't it because you pushed me into this?" Rose shot back.
"Ms. Everhart, do you realize? Right now, I'm really glad I pulled you out of Mr. Graham's lab for a bit." Fiona tilted her head, still smiling. "Looks like my gut feeling about you was spot on."
Rose's face darkened. "Gut feeling? What gut feeling?"
"You've got your sights set on Darwin," Fiona said slowly, "I don't know if it's good or bad, but you definitely have some kind of agenda with him."
Rose's expression shifted.
"The Solomon Group's website has job listings. Send your resume to the HR email. If you're qualified to be my secretary, someone will reach out," Fiona finished, then hopped into her car without another word.
As the silver Bentley drove off, Rose's face twisted in anger.
She pulled out her phone and texted Fiona.
Rose: [So, you've made your choice. I'm heading back to Cyberia right now!]
No reply.
Rose was fuming.
She bought a plane ticket and was ready to leave Armie.
But before she could get to the airport, her ticket got canceled.
A quick call revealed her passport was temporarily restricted.
She was livid and called Hubert immediately.
He picked up fast.
"Hubert, I'm being blocked from leaving Armie! It's Fiona's doing! Why is she doing this? I just want to go home. I don't want to work at your lab. Can't I just go home?" Rose was practically shouting.
Hubert's voice was calm, "Take it easy. Weren't you settling in fine over there? Why the sudden urge to come back?"
Rose couldn't really explain it.
Seeing Fiona surrounded by people that morning had made her feel uneasy.
Thinking it over, she felt like Fiona was controlling her.
She wanted to live her own life, not one dictated by Fiona.
Her mom always said that people like Fiona get a kick out of bossing others around.
"I'm just not used to it here!" she said flatly.
"Come on, you were doing fine before. Rose, ever since we found out about Darwin's illness, you've been acting different. What's going on?" Hubert's tone was serious, "Even Chelsea thinks you have it out for Darwin!"
"I don't, I swear! I want to protect him!" Rose quickly said, "My mom and I don't hold anything against him or Aiden, you know that!"
Hubert sighed, "If that's true, then good. The medical team has a full treatment plan for Darwin now. Ideally, within six months to a year, his condition can be stabilized."
"Hubert." Rose cut him off.
"What?"
"Aiden and Darwin ended up like this, what's the real reason?"
"Rose, what are you getting at?" Hubert didn't answer directly.
"Sure, there are genetic issues, but things got worse because of Brooke and Fiona, right? As long as Fiona's around Darwin, no matter what we do, he'll end up the same. Don't you get it?" Rose's voice was rising, "My mom told your dad the same thing back then, but he ignored it. If you ignore it now, Darwin's doomed!"
