Chapter 918
"Sorry, I don't understand what you mean," Fiona said calmly. "But I have heard about the gang fights on your side. So, has Atticus, who's been entrenched and undefeated for two generations under the protection of The Rhoads family, started to falter as soon as The Rhoads family withdrew its support?""
Lucia gritted her teeth, glancing back at Atticus, who had lost an arm in an attack earlier that day.
At first, Lucia just wanted to use Atticus to avenge herself. But watching over the past two months, no matter how much Atticus was suppressed, no matter how much he was betrayed, he always insisted that he would never give up on her.
Lucia had loved many men in her life, but none of them had loved her as Atticus did.
She couldn't bear to see Atticus end up in a situation where he died because of her.
"Will seeing my corpse make the Rhoads family restore its support for Atticus?" Lucia asked.
After listening, Fiona chuckled lightly, "Mrs. Bennett, this episode has already been played out. Atticus rejected the Rhoads family's demands for blood in return."
"So what do you want me to do now to let him go?" Lucia asked angrily, "Fiona, do you really think you did nothing wrong in the past? Moreover, up to now, my daughter, Robert, has died! You are unscathed, and the missing Darwin has returned alive! What else are you dissatisfied with? What else do you want to vent?"
After Lucia finished shouting, Fiona calmly replied, "Lucia, we are all adults. You should understand that everyone is responsible for their past actions. The Rhoads family has a debt to Atticus, but he doesn't care. He even looks down on my grandmother, who helped him and his father rise to power. This ensured that even without you, Atticus would lose The Rhoads family's support. If he collapses and is replaced by other gangs after losing our support, it shows that Atticus is fundamentally incompetent. The Rhoads family does not support incompetence or those who do not obey them."
"Fine!" Lucia said fiercely, "Since you are not going to give us a way out, then our deep hatred is completely settled; let's wait and see!"
When Lucia hung up, Fiona heard a man's voice on the other line, calling Lucia's name in pain.
After the call, Fiona casually made another call to Janna.
"I was just chatting with Chicago about her little crab," Janna answered the call cheerfully.
"Chicago has been having a blast these days. I'm worried she won't want to leave when the vacation ends," Fiona said helplessly.
"She likes that kind of house; let's buy another one in the Bay City," Janna said boldly, "During dinner, Burl kept mentioning wanting to move to a bigger estate."
"There are big estates available, but it would be inconvenient for Charles and Chicago to go to school," Fiona replied.
"We'll discuss it later," Janna said, changing the subject. "Are you calling me just to chat?"
"Hathaway's mother called me," Fiona replied.
"Lucia?" Janna chuckled coldly. She had been extremely arrogant lately, spouting one set of harsh words after another. I thought she wasn't afraid."
Janna sneered, "She's afraid that I am too harsh. Knowing that you have a kind heart, she dares not call me, only bothering you!"
Janna's words amused Fiona.
"Grandma, do you ultimately want Atticus and Lucia to die?" Fiona asked.
"I've said before, if Atticus relinquishes all his power and hands over Lucia, the matter can be resolved. Unfortunately, Atticus is unwilling to give up his rights or his woman. He insists on resisting; what can I do?" Janna's tone was cold.
Since finding her granddaughter and having Charles and Chicago, Janna's mindset has undergone a significant change.
In the past, she wouldn't have given Atticus a chance to choose.
She wouldn't have let him linger on for over two months. She would have killed him.
