Chapter 1181
Fiona paid and made her way over to Darwin.
Seeing him on the phone, she slowed her pace a bit.
Darwin noticed her and said to Rex, "I'll get someone to pick you up. My wife won't be thrilled if she sees you biking here."
Rex replied, "Alright."
Darwin hung up and quickly caught up to Fiona. "Rex is back in Bay City. I'll have Xavier pick him up tomorrow for lunch. He even got you a gift."
"What gift?" Fiona asked, smiling at Darwin's excitement.
Mike still hadn't found any clues about Rex.
Since they were meeting, Fiona figured she could judge for herself.
If the kid was nice and Darwin liked him, they could stay in touch.
Darwin held Fiona's hand and thought for a moment. "He didn't say, just mentioned it's something tasty."
"Did I ever tell you? Your godmother's hometown is also there, but her family moved away generations ago." Fiona squeezed Darwin's knuckles. "She visits sometimes. Maybe you went with her when you were little."
Darwin thought hard and shook his head. "I can't remember."
"You have a strong connection with that kid," Fiona said softly.
Darwin nodded.
He almost mentioned that Rex reminded him of Charles but decided against it.
Charles and Chicago had a special place in his heart.
"I need to look nice tomorrow. Don't want to embarrass you in front of your friend," Fiona said, smiling.
Darwin's eyes were full of love.
He looked at Fiona, smiling with endless affection.
On the flight back to Bay City, Fiona flipped through her notes, looking for good restaurants, especially kid-friendly ones.
Darwin seemed tired. He leaned on Fiona's shoulder and fell asleep shortly after boarding.
The plane landed in Bay City, and they returned to Emerald Pool.
It was already 1:00 a.m.
Darwin and Fiona were exhausted but still checked on Charles and Chicago before heading to bed.
Fiona hugged Darwin and nuzzled his chin. "I need to go to Monsoon Investment first thing, so let's meet at the restaurant for lunch, okay?"
Darwin nodded.
"Sleep now!" Fiona kissed Darwin.
Though tired, she couldn't fall asleep.
She didn't actually need to go to Monsoon Investment.
She had to visit Hubert's hospital.
When they landed, she got a message from Hubert asking her to come by in the morning.
It was probably about Darwin's condition.
