Chapter 828 I'm Not Worthy

After Fiona said this, she held Darwin's hand and walked towards Stella.

Wyatt stood still.

Fiona's final question felt like a loud slap across his face.

Wyatt suddenly recalled many times when she returned, looking at him with a grievance and helplessness in her eyes.

"Son, don't listen to their nonsense! If she really wants to marry that Beaumont guy, let her! She never deserved you!" Ms. Durham said angrily, clutching her chest.

Wyatt looked at his mother numbly, "Did you insult her mother last time?"

Ms. Durham was slightly taken aback, "I... I was just stating the facts. Wasn't her mother the third party who destroyed someone else's marriage?"

Wyatt felt a sharp pain his chest.

Facing the stern faces of the elders, he suddenly felt absurd.

He had promised Fiona confidently that he could break away from these people.

But when they were actually standing in front of him, Wyatt couldn't even say a harsh word.

And that man...

In his mind, Alexander appeared, unhesitatingly protecting Stella.

Right.

And there was this guy named Preston.

He was Alexander's family, and his attitude probably represented the attitudes of most of the Beaumont family.

"I'm not worthy," Wyatt muttered, his thin figure staggered, his eyes red.

"Wyatt..." Ms. Durham had never seen her son like this.

He had always been the proudest person.

"You will get what you want, but the Wyatt you knew no longer exists." After Wyatt finished speaking, he glanced in the direction Stella had left.

His gaze was full of longing and heartbreak.

But her figure, which he had been longing for, was long gone.

He withdrew his gaze despondently, ignoring the noisy chatter around him.

He turned around, like a soulless walking corpse, ignoring the elders, and walked out of the coffee shop into the bright sunlight outside.

But...

Why did the warm sunlight feel so cold to him?

Wyatt looked up at the clear sky.

Whether it was sunny or rainy in the future, Stella would no longer be by his side.

Alexander got an ice pack, furrowing his brows slightly as he sat next to Stella, massaging her cheek.

"Stella, I'm sorry." Fiona said sincerely.

Stella seemed quite happy, "What are you sorry for, you couldn’t stop the Woods family members from coming, could you?"

Stella paused for a moment, then said quite happily, "Besides, I slapped Ms. Durham today. That was quite satisfying!"

"Stella, you're quite fierce. But now you’ll probably be tagged as someone who beats up elders!" Preston sat on a nearby stool.

"Who cares?" Stella raised her head slightly, looking as if nothing could faze her.

As a result, Stella became complacent.

She moved too abruptly and the movement triggered her injury, causing her to wince and gasp.

"Wait a moment!" Alexander hurriedly said.

"It's okay..." Stella smiled at him.

"It's all swollen." Alexander was still angry about the slap Stella received today, as well as the two slaps she received when he wasn't around.

Just then, a servant came in quickly.

"Sir, Madam, the Madam's family has arrived at the hotel."

The smile on Stella's face gradually disappeared, and she visibly tensed. She looked at Alexander, "Did you really invite them all?"

"Yes." Alexander nodded. "I promised you."

Stella was numb.

She had only mentioned it casually before.

Earlier, when Alexander had said he had invited all her family members, and she had been half skeptical.

Who knew...

They would actually come.

"I've arranged for someone to receive them." Alexander continued, "Your face is still swollen, so we won't go see them now."

"Okay." Stella nodded.

Fiona sensed her unease.

After Alexander finished applying the warm compress for her, she pulled Stella aside and asked, "Your family is here. Why are you so nervous?"

Stella felt a bit dejected, "It's been a long time since I've seen them, so I'm a bit nervous."

But that wasn't the whole truth.

She had seen Alexander's guest list, and her eldest sister's name was on it.

Over the past decade, she had been drifting aimlessly, while her eldest sister had become their father’s most prized successor.

"With Alexander by your side, are you still afraid they'll bully you?" Fiona comforted her, patting her back. "Right now, the most important thing is to reduce the swelling on your face. Ms. Durham knew your wedding was approaching and still slapped you. Does she want you to get married or not?"

Stella sneered, "Of course she wants me to get married, but not to Alexander, but to a notorious man, or an insignificant nobody."

"Is she that hateful?" Fiona frowned.

"Let me tell you a little secret that no one knows." Stella lowered her voice, leaning in close to Fiona's ear.

"Go ahead."

"Actually, my mother and Ms. Durham were classmates."

Fiona was shocked.

"I only found out when Wyatt had the accident. Apparently, in college, they both fancied the same handsome guy in their department. Later, the handsome guy chose my mother, which made the proud Ms. Durham lose face."

Stella sighed, "Unfortunately, that handsome guy turned out to be a scoundrel. My mother suffered deep emotional wounds because of that guy, and while backpacking in Europe, she met my father."

Like the beginning of all clichéd stories, A wealthy man, hiding his married status, seduced a deeply wounded innocent woman.

After a passionate affair lasting several months, the woman discovered the man's true identity and that he was married with three children.

She immediately wanted to break it off.

But the day she decided to break up, Stella's mother fainted in front of the man and was taken to the hospital.

She was pregnant.

Her beliefs didn't allow her to have an abortion, so Stella was born.

"Even though my mom went through hell with that guy and died early, Ms. Durham’s hatred didn’t fade. Instead, when she found out I was dating Wyatt, she directed that hatred at me tenfold.” Stella leaned against the window, looking at the bright, clear sky outside.

"The grudges of the previous generation transferred to you are unfair to you." Fiona said solemnly.

"Who says it isn't? It's a pity..." Stella looked at Fiona, "None of those people have a heart as kind as yours."

Just like...

Her once beloved older sister, who she used to rely on when she was young.

Clearly such a good sister.

But one day, she turned into a terrifying woman who tried to push Stella into the bed of a disgusting man.

If she hadn't passed out completely that day and managed to escape while the man was showering, she would...
