Chapter 1365
Burl held Melissa close, watching her smile and drool at her parents.
"Your dad's always up to something," he chuckled. "Your mom got tricked by him just like this!"
He laughed again. "But if your dad didn't have these tricks, how would I have my adorable Melissa?"
Burl lifted Melissa up and continued to play with her. She wasn't scared at all; in fact, she was laughing heartily.
Kenny and Ashton pretended not to notice.
"Did you also buy desserts?" Ashton pointed to the two boxes on the table. "Fiona brought guests over today and bought two boxes too. How are we going to finish all this?"
"No worries. Burl eats a lot," Kenny said calmly, then noticed the stranger in the living room. Well, not a complete stranger. While investigating Hubert, Kenny had seen Rose's photo.
"I heard that!" Burl exclaimed, glancing over. Kenny completely ignored him; Burl was too noisy for someone who treasured peace and quiet.
They had been working together a lot recently, and Kenny had developed the ability to automatically filter out Burl's unimportant words.
He nodded politely at Rose as a greeting, then handed the food he bought to Ashton. Seeing Ashton take it, he went to his room to wash his hands, took off his watch, changed out of his suit, and came out in casual clothes.
He took Melissa from Burl. She was much more well-behaved in Kenny's arms, lying on his shoulder and quietly sucking her thumb.
Burl went to get some food and sat near Wyatt. In Burl's mind, Wyatt was absolutely a bad guy. If there was a ranking for bad guys, Wyatt would be at the top. He was worse than Darwin and Ashton's ex-boyfriend. However, Wyatt seemed to be getting better.
Burl thought for a moment and decided to share some experience with Wyatt. "Don't be fooled by Kenny's cold demeanor outside. At home, unless Ashton wants to hold Melissa, Kenny takes care of her most of the time."
Rose took small bites of the food Ashton handed her. She was very shocked by what she heard and couldn't help but glance at Kenny again. Kenny gently patted Melissa's back with his big hand. In no time, the previously playful Melissa was already showing signs of falling asleep.
Kenny, while comforting Melissa, kept his focus on Ashton. He occasionally gestured towards the food he had bought, eagerly watching as she tasted it. Each time she did, he looked at her with anticipation. When Ashton said it was delicious, he would immediately smile with satisfaction.
Rose withdrew her gaze. She suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable. Everything here was strange, unlike anything she had seen before.
After Kenny put Melissa to sleep, he handed her to the maid to be taken to the bedroom. Fiona and the others hadn't come down yet. Ashton, worried that Rose might feel uneasy, went over to chat with her.
As they chatted, Rose suddenly asked, "I heard from Mr. Allmond that your husband takes care of the child?"
Ashton smiled and nodded. "He does it much better than I do."
"But doesn't he need to work?" Rose asked, puzzled.
At this moment, Burl walked over and said, "That's a strange question. Ashton also needs to work."
Rose wanted to say something but seemed to hesitate. Finally, she just lowered her head and said, "That's true, Mrs. Walker is also a very famous entrepreneur. I was just curious because I heard Mr. Walker has an impressive educational background, and it seems like a waste of talent for him to stay home with the child."
"Not at all." Ashton waved her hand. "We agreed that before Melissa starts school, he would work for a while, and I would stay home to take care of her. Then I would work for a while, and he would stay home to take care of her."
