Chapter 1429

Rose struggled desperately.

Her ankle was instantly chafed by the iron chain from her efforts, but she seemed oblivious to the pain, reaching out to grab Hubert.

But Hubert easily took two steps back, widening the distance between him and Rose.

"Hubert, you can't do this to me, you can't!"

"I've been with you for so many years, even if I were a pet, you couldn't treat me like this!"

"You promised my mom you'd take care of me!"

"Hubert, I'm begging you."

Ignoring Rose's terror and pleas, Hubert glanced at her indifferently and turned to leave.

"Hubert, you'll go to hell!"

"You say I'm pitiful, but aren't you? Is there anyone who loves you besides me?!"

"Hubert!"

Beckett saw Hubert out.

When he returned, Rose was still cursing.

Beckett's face was grim. He had wanted to invite Hubert to stay for a cup of coffee, but Hubert seemed eager to leave, handing over his business card before quickly departing.

Beckett had heard Rose's curses and thought Hubert didn't want to stay for coffee because he was upset by her words.

Beckett wanted to make connections with people like Hubert, who were knowledgeable and held academic positions.

Losing this rare opportunity made him very irritated. When he got back and heard Rose still cursing, he was furious.

He kicked Rose hard,  shouting, "You ungrateful wretch, Mr. Graham came to see you out of kindness, and even reminded me to take good care of you, specifically noting your food allergies. And you repay him with such vile curses!"

Rose clutched the spot where she had been kicked, trembling all over.

"Take her to the isolation room. She won't be coming out for the next six months."

Rose's eyes filled with terror, and she frantically waved her hands, apologizing, "I won't do it again, I promise I won't! Please don't send me to the isolation room! Please!"

But resistance was futile.

Rose was quickly taken to the isolation room, and Beckett kept his word, locking her up for six months.

Fiona had been feeling exhausted these past few days.

Even when she was awake, she felt weak and lethargic.

Christopher called to inform Fiona that Hubert had gone to see Rose.

"Who knows what he said, but Rose went completely mad, chasing after Hubert and cursing him. I heard it was pretty nasty," Christopher said in a serious tone. "I was worried Mr. Graham might come to you to plead for Rose once you calmed down, but given the current situation, I doubt it. In fact, I suspect Mr. Graham went to see her just to provoke her."

"Rose was spoiled by him, mistakenly thinking Hubert would always tolerate her," Fiona replied lazily. "Let the staff know that Hubert can come and go freely from now on, just make sure he doesn't get hurt by anyone inside."

"Understood," Christopher replied. "By the way, I received a stack of workbooks last night. Did Mrs. Solomon buy them for Charlotte?"

Fiona paused, then realized: "It must have been Charles. He probably bought them for Charlotte's exams."

Christopher was a bit surprised.

He and Charlotte had become good friends, and their relationship was great.

But Charles? They barely exchanged a few words. He bought workbooks for Charlotte?

"He's really a softie at heart!" Christopher said sincerely.

"Yeah," Fiona responded absentmindedly. "Anything else?"
