Chapter 1102
Darwin took off his shirt again, grabbed an old one from the closet.
He'd lost a lot of weight from his injury and still hadn't fully recovered.
The shirt hung loose on him.
Without a second thought, Darwin tossed the blood-stained shirt and wound care items into the trash.
He then opened the blood replenishing potion he had bought with the medicine.
After downing several vials, he curled up on the sofa and soon passed out from dizziness due to blood loss.
He woke up to his phone ringing. It was Xavier.
Darwin's head throbbed.
He answered the call.
"Mr. Solomon, are you still busy?" Xavier asked.
Darwin frowned and glanced at the time; it was already 4:00 p.m.
"Is my wife looking for me?" Darwin sat up.
"Yes, she asked when you'll be done and if you'll be home for dinner," Xavier replied.
"Call a car to wait at the entrance of Emerald Pool. I'm heading over now."
"Yes, Mr. Solomon!"
Xavier didn't dare ask where Darwin had been.
Tom said Darwin got off near a park and mentioned he would contact him after he was done.
Xavier wasn't sure what Darwin was up to.
Judging by Darwin's tone, he was clearly not in a good mood.
So he didn't ask further.
Before leaving, Darwin took the trash downstairs.
In the lobby, he ran into Calista from the flower shop.
"Mr. Solomon, are you back? Every time I deliver flowers, it's your housekeeper who receives them. I haven't seen you in a long time!" Calista looked at Darwin. "Why have you lost so much weight? You need to take good care of yourself!"
Darwin looked at her.
Some hazy images flashed through his mind but quickly disappeared.
"Okay," he responded.
"Well, I shall leave you to your work. I have more flowers to deliver!"
"Alright."
Calista hurried away.
Darwin glanced around and then walked outside.
The car he called had arrived, and it soon took him to the entrance of Emerald Pool.
Xavier was already waiting there.
Darwin got into the car, where a spare suit of his was waiting.
After raising the privacy screen, he changed out of the ill-fitting shirt.
When he was ready, the car came to a steady stop.
Darwin got out.
"Daddy!" Chicago shouted happily and jumped into his arms.
A smile finally appeared on Darwin's face as he picked up Chicago. "Did you miss me?"
"Of course!" Chicago nodded vigorously. "My mommy missed you too! Daddy, you worked so long today! Was it difficult?"
"No difficulties, I have a meeting at the office tomorrow and wanted to be well-prepared." Darwin gently patted Chicago's back and then looked up at Fiona standing not far away. "Honey, today was so hectic, I forgot to text you."
"This isn't the first time," Fiona teased, waving at Chicago.
Chicago climbed down from Darwin's arms.
Darwin was always someone who would forget to eat when he worked, let alone send a text.
Fiona was used to it.
However, such a casual remark struck Darwin like a bolt of lightning.
"It won't happen again!" he blurted out in a panic.
Fiona looked at him in astonishment.
