Chapter 1130

Stuart saw Janna and Fiona every day. He grew delicious fruits and veggies for them. Watching them enjoy the food made him feel like he’d harvested the whole world, not just a few fruits and veggies!

"Why aren't you happy?" Fiona asked, pulling a big tomato from the basket.

Chicago tried to stay upbeat but couldn't. "A lot of people asked me today where Ethan went. He hasn't replied to my messages or anyone else's."

Fiona was a bit surprised.

Chicago continued, "He organized all his wrong answers and review materials into electronic documents, sent them to his friends, and then just stopped responding."

Ethan might seem cold, but his upbringing made him that way. Fiona knew he cared about those who were good to him. Would he really stop contacting everyone just because he went abroad to study? That didn't seem like Ethan.

"Ethan might be lonely overseas. He might need time to adjust," Fiona said, pulling her thoughts back. "Maybe once he settles in, he'll start contacting his friends again."

"Will he contact me too?" Chicago asked quickly.

"Anything's possible!" Fiona gabbled.

Chicago's head drooped. "Goodbyes are the worst. I hate them!"

Fiona gently rubbed her head. "Sweetheart, life is full of goodbyes and reunions," she said softly.

With tears, Chicago buried her head in Fiona's arms. "But I just don't like being apart."

Fiona could tell Chicago was genuinely sad. She didn't scold her, just patted her back and comforted her gently.

After a while, Stuart came over with two big crates of tomatoes, and only then did Chicago stop crying. Her first lesson about the pain of goodbyes came suddenly and was hard to accept.

After bringing the tomatoes back, she took an early bath and went to her room. Darwin knew why she was upset. This time, he didn't try to comfort her. He stayed in his study, dealing with work.

After Fiona finished her tasks, she video-called Ashton for a while. Hearing that Chicago was so upset because of Ethan's departure and lack of contact, Ashton angrily said, "I thought Ethan was a good kid. I even mentioned to you that I wanted him to be close to Chicago. How did it turn out like this? Forget it, I've changed my mind. Any guy who makes Chicago sad isn't worth it!"

"Don't be like that, they're still very young," Fiona shook her head. "Besides, I always felt something was off about Ethan going abroad this time."

"Why?" Ashton asked while trying to get Melissa to sleep.

"I don't have any experience studying abroad. Is it normal for someone like Ethan to go without applying to a school in advance?" Fiona asked.

Ashton blurted out, "Of course not. You usually have to apply at least six months in advance. Unless you have financial support or outstanding grades."

"Ethan definitely doesn't have financial support. Are his grades particularly outstanding?"

Ashton teased, "Could it be that Darwin was jealous of Ethan and used his financial power to send him abroad?"
