Chapter 444 Daily Madness of Mr. Solomon
The bystanders shared the news far and wide.
Darwin's name skyrocketed to the top trend, crashing Twitter.
Perhaps too many had come to Twitter for the drama, as the site soon crashed.
Fiona was in the hospital, scrolling through Twitter.
Seeing the crash, she looked incredulous.
"Darwin is the head of such a major corporation. How can he be so reckless? Shouldn't he have consulted with the PR departments on both sides for such a big reveal first?"
Laura wanted to change Darwin's approach.
"He's always done things his way." Fiona's voice was flat. "Let it go; this isn't on Monsoon Investment to handle. You've done enough here, and RH Company needs you back to keep things in check."
"I've already bought my return ticket." Laura nodded. "You just focus on Mrs. Rhoads. As for Monsoon Investment..."
Laura looked at Fiona with admiration and said, "Bringing in that aunt was a brilliant move. She's barely been here two days and has already given us such a boost. I was worried about her being a handful, stirring up trouble, but there's been none of that."
Fiona smiled.
It was all within her calculations.
She was always a formidable talent; it's just that she had been seriously stifled before. Now that she's got the chance to flex her muscles, she will surely push it to the limit.
"Yeah!" Laura nodded emphatically. "Okay, Chelsea, I'm heading out now."
"Alright." Fiona nodded back, then opened her arms to embrace Laura. "You've worked hard."
Laura's steps were exceptionally light as she left.
Her cheeks were flushed with a rosy glow, and her radiant smile couldn't be hidden.
Hehe! Chelsea hugged me—wow!
Gorgeous women are a delight to hug!
After Laura departed, Fiona entered the hospital room to sit beside Janna.
Twitter had crashed briefly before the techies got it back up and running.
She chatted with Janna for a bit, then rechecked Twitter.
Darwin was still ranting like mad.
Bored, he was in the comments section, chatting with users.
The comments he replied to were already topping the trending lists.
User A: Your flesh and blood?
Darwin replied: Yep, yep, yep!
User B: Considering the kid's age, were you juggling three women simultaneously? Secretary Woods, Chelsea, and Lilian?
Darwin replied: There has only been one woman from start to finish.
Below this reply, users exploded with reactions.
"Damn! Did you see what he said? What about Lilian? Do you remember Fiona by the beautiful lakeside? Weren't you the one with those public declarations of love?"
"Who's the bigger player, you or Darwin? I hope the angel, Secretary Woods, never comes across you again in her life!"
"My friend saw the child face-to-face and asked me if Secretary Woods couldn't let go of Mr. Solomon and reincarnated to come back. How heartbreaking!"
"Mr. Solomon, your ruthlessness is real!"
Comments like these practically flooded the comments section.
Darwin, reading through them, was at a loss for words too.
After some thought, he decided to call Fiona.
But she rejected the call.
He then sent a WhatsApp message.
"Honey, should I tell them that Chelsea is you? Now I've become the poster boy for jerks.” He ended the message with a crying emoji.
The message was sent but ignored.
He'd anticipated this outcome before his online meltdown but still felt a tad downcast about it.
He switched back to Twitter.
He commented on his post: "Never mind, my wife's mad at me now."
This comment quickly drew a torrent of player bashing.
Darwin added one more comment: "Forget it. Time will reveal the truth."
With that said, he left the users confused and exited Twitter.
Fiona couldn't help but laugh out loud as Thalassa murmured to herself.
Clearly worried she might miss the incident on Twitter, he sent her a screenshot of Darwin's tweet and a voice message that ran for thirty seconds.
When she played it, there was nothing but the sound of laughter for over half a minute, setting Fiona into fits of giggles.
Following closely, Thalassa's message came through: "But seriously, your hubby's changed a lot. If anyone had talked smack about him in the past, he'd have tracked them down through the internet for revenge, right?"
It was an exaggeration, sure.
But Darwin did have a history of holding grudges.
Even if it was his fault, to begin with, those who crossed him rarely ended up unscathed.
Fiona pondered for a moment.
She tapped the screen and replied, "Well, he's a father now. He ought to have grown up a bit."
After a short pause, Thalassa finally answered, "Yeah, right. Darwin's gone soft for love. No, let's be more precise. He's changed for you."
Fiona was briefly taken aback.
Then, she mocked herself with a wry smile.
She had long given up hope of that sort of change.
Rather than wishing Darwin would turn over a new leaf for her, she'd instead continue to grow stronger and cut off at the root any chance of Darwin's old ways causing harm to her and those around her.
"Alright, get some rest. You've got to accompany Kenny to his class reunion tomorrow. Stay sharp," Fiona replied.
Thalassa tumbled twice in her bed, a twinge of anxiety creeping in at the mention.
Over the years, she'd weathered many storms, and it was rare for her to feel this nervous about attending a social event.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Thalassa opened it to find Chicago clutching her sleep teddy bear, looking pitifully up at her.
"Aww, my baby, what's wrong?" Thalassa quickly scooped up Chicago.
Chicago snuggled into her arms. "Godmother, I miss mommy."
Patting Chicago's back, Thalassa cooed, "There, there, baby. Mommy and Daddy will be back once they finish their work."
Chicago buried her face in Thalassa's shoulder and sobbed.
Hearing the commotion upstairs, Kenny made his way to check on them.
"What's going on?" he asked, approaching the pair.
"She misses her mom," Thalassa said with a heavy heart while comforting Chicago.
It took a while to soothe Chicago back to sleep.
She was a lot heavier now than when she was smaller.
Thalassa's arms were sore, and seeing this, Kenny carefully took Chicago from her arms, carrying her back to the children's room and gently tucking her into bed.
Tears of distress still clung to the corners of Chicago's eyes.
Thalassa gently wiped them away.
She glanced over at Charles again and noted that he had taken his medication before bed and was sleeping more deeply than usual.
Exiting the children's room, Kenny stood by the doorway, giving Thalassa's arm a playful squeeze. "I'm a bit nervous," Thalassa blurted out to Kenny unexpectedly.
Kenny chuckled lightly. "They're just some students who've just returned from studying abroad. You've handled negotiations with big shots without breaking a sweat. What's there to be nervous about?"
Poking Kenny in the arm, Thalassa muttered, "I’m just worried about embarrassing you." "
