Chapter 199 Honey, I Was Wrong!
The people from Fiona's studio heard the loud commotion outside and also ran out.
"Chelsea!" Laura cried out, hurried rapidly in her high heels.
Upon reaching Fiona and seeing her unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
But the next second, Laura covered her mouth with one hand; took two steps back, pointed at the person in Fiona's arms, and then looked at the wrecked car and wall, "When I arrived, the car was already here! Could it be that Darwin lost his mind? Knowing he couldn't secure the RH Company project, did he despicably ambush here to harm you, to obstruct our project's progress?"
Laura was always dramatic.
But Fiona hadn't expected her to be this dramatic.
"If Darwin was after me, couldn't he have just hired someone? Why come himself!" Fiona said while taking out her phone to call an ambulance.
After quickly reporting the address, she lowered her eyes to Darwin.
His complexion was indeed terrible.
At that moment, Darwin furrowed his brows, as if coming to his senses.
Fiona instantly became colder.
"Mr. Solomon, Mr. Solomon, can you hear me?" Laura and the others crowded over, all asking questions.
Darwin lifted his eyelids, didn't look at anyone else, only at Fiona.
"Hurts…" He managed to utter just one word.
"His arms and legs are fine, could it be internal injuries?" Laura said gravely.
Fiona was worried about that too.
At that point, Darwin's hand, like clutching at a lifeline, grabbed Fiona's hand.
Fiona was startled and instinctively tried to shake it off.
"Chelsea, you can't move him recklessly, if he really has internal injuries, one wrong move could cause severe bleeding!" a colleague reminded.
"Endure it for a little while!" Laura also advised.
Her boss didn't like the CEO Solomon, Laura knew that well.
Once there was a business magazine that featured Darwin on the annual cover.
The boss was very busy those few days.
She passed by, saw it, went into her office, and still came back out to throw the magazine straight into the trash.
Since then, Laura became much more cautious. She never brought magazines related to Darwin into the boss's office again.
There was a hospital near Fiona's studio.
The ambulance arrived quickly.
When the paramedics came to lift the injured, Fiona instinctively advised, "He may have internal injuries, so please be careful. Also, it seemed like he had a stomach ache before the car accident."
"We understand," nodded the attending doctor.
Fiona thought that would be the end of her involvement.
However, as Darwin was being loaded onto the stretcher, he still held onto Fiona's hand.
"Mr. Solomon, you're going to the hospital now, let go of me," Fiona said sternly.
It was unclear if Darwin was awake or what his state was.
After she spoke, the grip on her hand tightened.
"Don't..." she heard Darwin say with a frown.
"What's going on?" a friend next to Laura asked with her lips.
Laura just shrugged her shoulders.
"Honey, I'm sorry... don't be mad at me, don't ignore me..." At that moment, Darwin suddenly looked at Fiona dazedly and astonishingly uttered this sentence.
"...Honey?"
"He..." Fiona tried to explain.
"Family member, right? Family has to come along in case we need a signature at the hospital for any serious conditions," the doctor said hastily.
Darwin had a head injury and seemed not very coherent.
The doctor was worried he might have a cerebral contusion.
"I'm not..." Fiona began.
"Move quickly, after this one, there's another fall injury nearby to pick up!" the driver urged.
The medics hurried to get Darwin into the ambulance.
Darwin clung to Fiona's hand and wouldn't let go.
She was pulled along passively, then boarded the ambulance, which headed to the hospital with its siren wailing.
On the ambulance, the doctor conducted a preliminary check-up on Darwin.
No major issues were found.
"We still need to do an MRI for his head," said the doctor.
Fiona nodded.
She took out her phone and called Laura.
Laura picked up instantly.
"First off, I'm not his wife, I don't know him, and we're not close!" Fiona said impatiently.
The doctor and nurse turned to look at her.
Fiona, expressionless, continued, "Carry on preparing for the meeting as usual, and if I can't get back in time, I'll join via video call."
"Got it!" Laura responded decisively.
Fiona hung up and tried to pull her hand away. It was still stuck.
She shouldn't have called an ambulance.
She should have stuffed Darwin into a car and taken him to a deserted place to get rid of his offending hand.
Soon, Darwin was brought into the hospital.
A public hospital isn't a private place. It was crowded everywhere.
Darwin was settled in the emergency room ward waiting for an MRI.
After the medical staff had left, Fiona gently patted the back of his hand, "Darwin, I'm not leaving. Let go of my hand. You're hurting me."
Darwin opened his eyes, red and filled with an incomprehensible grievance.
"Don't lie to me," he said, his voice full of hurt.
"Mr. Solomon, although I don't like you very much, I wouldn't just leave you alone in the hospital," Fiona said, eyes downcast, trying to withdraw her hand again.
This time Darwin let go.
She pulled her hand back and took a disinfectant wipe from her bag, frowning as she cleaned the blood on Darwin's hand.
"Do you dislike me that much?" Darwin asked softly.
Fiona didn't look at him as she said, "Mr. Solomon, if you were targeted by a lunatic, a stalker, would you like him?"
Darwin furrowed his brow slightly, his eyes redder now.
He looked at Fiona with deep intensity, his gaze swirling with a myriad of emotions.
In the end, he remained silent, not saying a word.
His hand pressed against his stomach, brows and eyes downcast.
Fiona glanced at his hand and pondered for a moment, "Mr. Solomon, do you need me to call someone for you?"
"There's no one to call," Darwin replied coldly, "I've broken ties with the Solomon family."
"What about your assistant? Your secretary?" Fiona asked.
"I don't need them here, they're irritating," Darwin said with a deep frown.
Fiona licked her somewhat dry lips, "Understood."
She took out her phone.
Darwin looked at her, "Understood what?"
Fiona turned the phone around to show him, Miss Robbins' name on the screen.
"I'm calling Miss Robbins over."
"Fiona!" Darwin suddenly stood up, snatched her phone away, his pale face finally gaining some color in anger.
"Darwin, give me back my phone!" Fiona stood up as well.
But in the next second, Darwin suddenly curled up in pain, clutching his stomach like a shrimp.
"You…" Fiona was baffled.
Despite the pain, he still clutched her phone tightly.
What a man!
