Chapter 763 Don't Let Dad See His Son
Mr. Soloman Sr. lost his ability to think clearly due to the woman's seduction. He didn't think much about it and immediately contacted Antony. After a few attempts, Antony finally answered the call.
"Antony, please tell Fiona that I've seen all the online rumors, and the inheritance is not that important to me. What I want now is to see Darwin and confirm if he's really alive!"
Antony replied, "I will convey your message."
He was about to hang up. Mr. Soloman Sr. hurriedly asked, "Antony, you've known our Darwin for a while. Have you met the person Fiona brought back? Are you sure he's Darwin?"
"Mr. Solomon Jr., this concerns my client's privacy, so I'm afraid I can't disclose that," Antony paused, then added with a smile, "But your people are really something. Even when they are not sure if Mr. Solomon Jr. is dead or alive, they dare to buy those strange trending topics online."
"Antony, you need to be careful with your words. When did I buy any trending topics? Don't make baseless accusations; I can sue you for defamation!" Mr. Soloman Sr. quickly retorted.
Antony didn't respond to his words and simply said, "I will convey your message to Fiona, whether she agrees or not is another matter."
After that, Antony hung up the phone. He sat alone in the law firm's office, with only one light left on. He stared at it for a long time, lost in thought, until his phone lit up in the dimness.
He picked it up and instantly a pained expression appeared on his face.
After Mr. Soloman Sr. called Antony, he still felt uneasy, so he decided to try calling Fiona. Surprisingly, she answered after a few rings. "Fiona, you finally answered my call!"
Mr. Soloman Sr. stood up, his tone a mix of surprise, reproach, and anger.
"What's the matter?" Fiona asked.
Before Mr. Soloman Sr. could speak, he suddenly remembered what his girlfriend had said earlier. Fiona was indeed setting a trap for him. She hadn't been answering his calls before, but today she did! She must be playing mind games with him!
"Have you seen the discussions online these past few days? Many people suspect that you brought back a fake Darwin to prevent the division of his inheritance. Is it true?" Mr. Soloman Sr. immediately assumed the posture of an elder and asked sternly.
"Do you have any doubts?" Fiona's voice carried a hint of amusement.
To Mr. Soloman Sr., Fiona's voice sounded mocking. His male pride was immediately pricked.
"Stop with the sarcasm. Let me see Darwin. If he's really alive, I'll be relieved!" he said, leaving the rest of his sentence unspoken.
If the person in the hospital was indeed a body double, then the inheritance would have to be divided. As long as the money was distributed, he would be willing to cooperate with Fiona to clarify those rumors online.
On the other end of the phone, Fiona laughed again. "You're putting on such a caring father act that I almost believed it."
"Fiona!" Mr. Soloman Sr. reprimanded.
"Darwin never wanted to have anything to do with you before, and now he definitely won't. There's no need for a meeting."
"Fiona, aren't you afraid that you won't be able to control public opinion and your reputation will be completely ruined?" Mr. Soloman Sr. threatened, "As long as I confirm that Darwin is alive, I will help you clarify things online. Why are you resisting?"
"Time will provide the answer to Darwin's life and death. As for my reputation, I've never cared about such things." Fiona paused for a moment. "But you, you're making a big fuss about your identity as an artist online. Aren't you afraid of being exposed and embarrassed?"
"I am an artist. What do I have to fear?" Mr. Soloman Sr. reflexively retorted.
"I don't have time to waste on this nonsense with you. Do you have anything else to say? If not, I'll hang up."
"Fiona!" Mr. Soloman Sr. became exasperated. "I've seen the photo that the reporter sent out. You may have fooled others, but you can't fool me. That's not Darwin at all! You're afraid of being exposed by me, so you dare not let me see Darwin, right? Why bother? I'm not greedy. Let's sit down and have a proper discussion about the distribution of the inheritance. As long as you're not too unreasonable, I'll agree to it!"
Fiona remained silent for a moment. Mr. Soloman Sr. thought he had hit a nerve and was eagerly waiting for her to make a counteroffer or agree to sit down and talk.
"I used to think that Anniston was exaggerating, but it turns out you really don't care about Darwin at all. You can't even recognize his appearance."
Mr. Soloman Sr.'s smile instantly froze on his face. Then, he heard Fiona say, "No wonder he despises you so much."
"Fiona! Just give me a straight answer. Will you let me see him or not?" Mr. Soloman Sr. gritted his teeth and asked, each word distinct.
"No."
"Fine, don't regret it!" Mr. Soloman Sr. then hung up the phone.
The beautiful woman had been listening at the door from the beginning. When she saw the call end, she immediately stepped in. "So, she really won't let you see him, right?"
"She's just a fake. If I go to see him, won't it expose her? Of course, she won't let me see him!" Mr. Soloman Sr. laughed in anger. "A despicable woman who slept her way to the top, suddenly became rich, and now she dares to be arrogant in front of me! Even if it's not for those inheritances, I won't let it go!"
"Honey, don't get angry with such a woman!" The woman coaxed Mr. Soloman Sr., rubbing along his back. "Since she's not cooperating, let's use public opinion to force her!"
"Okay! I'm not very good at this, so I'll leave it to you, my dear!"
"Don't worry!" The woman hugged Mr. Soloman Sr.'s neck and kissed his not-so-young face. "I'll make a call to my friend and have him arrange it. You've worked hard just now, so rest well while I'm gone. We'll have some fun when I get back."
Mr. Soloman Sr.'s bones turned to jelly. He watched his girlfriend sway her waist and walk out. Not long after, another round of revelations began on the internet.
[I just heard something outrageous. Although we netizens have seen what appears to be a photo of Darwin, in real life, Darwin's family (his father) and friends are not allowed to see him!]
[I've heard that too. Mr. Soloman Sr. is practically begging Fiona. I don't think it's right for Fiona to stop Darwin's father from seeing his son, no matter what disputes they've had recently.]
[Why does this matter seem to have no end? It's like another twist.]
[Well, it's not a twist. It's being revealed that Fiona is holding onto Darwin and not letting anyone see him. Hmm... why wouldn't she let him be seen when everything was fine?]
