Chapter 1406
Darwin locked eyes with a pair of venomous, hateful eyes.
"Did you really think you could get rid of me?"
It seemed like Darwin had regained his lost memories, and the other him looked different now. He was gaunt and skeletal, like a skeleton draped in human skin.
His eye sockets were deeply sunken, and his large eyeballs looked like they could fall out at any moment.
It had been too long since they last met.
His appearance was so grotesque and terrifying that Darwin stood there, pale and stunned.
Hubert had just returned to his office from the lab, ready to write today's observation report on Darwin.
Unexpectedly, both his phone and computer received alerts about Darwin's abnormal heart rate.
"Darwin, I am you. How could you possibly get rid of me?" The raspy, venomous voice continued to echo in Darwin's ears. "The day I disappear will be the day we completely merge into one! You've remembered everything; you should recall what you used to be like!"
"I will change! I have changed! I won't hurt her again!" Darwin gritted his teeth, speaking each word with determination.
Hubert opened the monitoring system for the room and heard Darwin talking to the air.
He slapped his forehead, a look of frustration appearing on his face.
How could this be happening?
"Change?" the venomous voice let out a sinister laugh.
"You think that way now because we haven't completely merged yet, but it won't be long." The skeletal hand reached out towards Darwin.
"Get away!" Darwin immediately dodged.
He rolled off the bed.
The piercing laughter filled the entire room.
Due to Darwin's fear, the other him seemed to become more substantial, his energy improving significantly. "I'm waiting for the day we become one. By then, I'll have my body back. I am your true nature, and soon I'll be able to do whatever I want."
The door to the room was pushed open.
The on-duty medical staff heard the commotion and came to check. "Mr. Solomon."
"Get out!" Darwin glared at the newcomer, his eyes dark and menacing.
The nurse hesitated for a moment.
Since Darwin arrived here, he had mostly ignored people, never showing such a terrifying demeanor.
The nurse backed out and pressed the emergency button.
After several months, Darwin was injected with a sedative again.
Under the sedative, Darwin fell into a deep sleep.
But he continued to frown, the monitor showing his brain waves were extremely chaotic, a sign of being trapped in a nightmare.
Hubert, with dark circles under his eyes and disheveled hair, paced back and forth.
From Darwin's brief words, Hubert roughly analyzed where this sudden change had come from.
After pondering for a while, he checked the time.
Confirming that Fiona across the ocean was not on her break, he dialed her number.
The call was quickly answered.
"So early, no, so late? What's happened?" Fiona asked.
Hubert heard the soft, sweet voice of a little girl beside Fiona.
