Chapter 1135

Darwin's chest and forehead throbbed, making it hard to breathe.

He didn't want to hear the kid's compromise, so he stormed out.

Brooke's voice cut through the air like a curse. "Darwin, being born here is both a blessing and a curse. If you want to survive, and for those around you to survive, you gotta strike first! Show no mercy. Only then can you stand at the top, unchallenged, an unshakable force!"

The door slammed shut.

Darwin felt like he was drowning.

Everything blurred, and he found himself back in his bedroom.

He collapsed into the armchair, sweated and panted incessantly

"Told you so," a voice echoed.

It was Antony, already captured.

He sat on the table across from Darwin, his long legs swinging, a smile both familiar and strange.

"Fiona's not that forgiving. You either tread cautiously your whole life, never slipping up, or she'll dump you in a heartbeat." Antony shrugged. "But deep down, you're bad. You can't help but mess up, so I knew you'd get what’s coming. And here it is."

"Shut up!" Darwin snapped. "I'll make sure you die if you still saying that!" Antony's smile grew even more eerie.

Then, right before Darwin's eyes, Antony slowly vanished.

Darwin felt a wave of panic like never before.

He got up, needing his meds.

But his injured leg felt like it was filled with lead, refusing to move.

After a struggle, he grabbed the pill bottle, his hands shaking as he poured a handful into his mouth.

With no water, he painfully swallowed them dry.

Darwin knew that whether it was Nathaniel, Anniston, or Brooke he had just seen, they were all hallucinations from intense stress, not real.

After taking the meds, they all disappeared.

"Still awake?" A pair of leather shoes appeared in front of him.

Darwin knelt on the ground, surrounded by scattered pills.

He slowly looked up and saw a stronger, younger, more superior, and indifferent version of himself.

The guy wore a sharp black suit.

The diamond cufflinks on his sleeves glinted coldly.

He looked down at Darwin, lightly flicking the diamond cufflinks with his fingers.

"Do you think that by concealing me and transforming into the obedient persona she desires, you can spend the rest of your lives enduringly together?" His tone dripped with mockery. "But look, after ditching the real me, what have you gained? Darwin, this isn't right."

"It's you!" Darwin panted heavily. "You're the one who made me get rid of Ethan, who made me think of killing Gray's family."

"Isn't that how it should be?" He spread his hands. "Grandma taught us not to leave any threats around, or you'll regret it when disaster strikes your loved ones. She also taught us to be decisive and ruthless."

"No, Fiona doesn't like it. Get out, get out of my head!" Darwin grabbed the pill bottle and threw it.

"This body is mine too. If you're useless, I'll take over," he said, picking up the pill bottle at his feet, glancing at the label, and sneering, "Weak people rely on this stuff to drive away their true nature. You're really suck."

Later, Darwin talked to the doctor about that night.

The doctor explained that the long-standing peace with Fiona had suddenly shattered. Facing Fiona's accusations, the psychological suggestions planted by others collapsed instantly, leading to his personality disintegration.

The house had excellent soundproofing.

While Darwin was struggling in pain, Fiona went to Charles's and Chicago's rooms one after the other.

In the end, she didn't sleep in Chicago's room either.
