Chapter 63 No One Can Leave!

"Henry, did you check the surveillance?" Fiona shot a glance at him.

Henry looked like he was about to lose it. "Yeah, Mr. Solomon sent me to check it out as soon as he heard something went down. But the hospital said the whole system was getting an upgrade when it happened, so..."

"Surveillance? What surveillance?" People started pouring out of the ward.

A middle-aged woman, who Fiona didn't recognize, strutted out with a diamond ring so big it could blind you.

Fiona knew everyone in the Solomon family who had gigs at Solomon Group or Atlas Group, even if she hadn't met them. And if they didn't work there, Darwin would still have her send gifts to the big shots during holidays.

So, if this lady was a stranger, she was probably someone Darwin wasn't too fond of.

"Yeah, it's clear your screw-up got Mrs. Solomon hurt!" The voice came from someone Fiona did know—Darwin's cousin, Hestia Sharp. Her hubby was loaded.

"First off, Mrs. Solomon isn't hurt, just spooked," Fiona shot back at Hestia. "Second, whether it was my screw-up or someone being shady and using Mrs. Solomon, who knows?"

"Fiona! You're way outta line!" Anniston snapped, then turned to Darwin. "Look at her, she's even dissing the family elders! If you keep her around, who knows who'll be next after your grandma!"

"Everyone, back off. I'll handle this," Darwin said, ice-cold.

"No way!"

"No way."

Anniston and Fiona both shouted at the same time.

The room got tense real quick.

Then Hathaway, who hardly ever spoke, chimed in, "Aunt Anniston, the servants say Ms. Woods has always been good to Mrs. Solomon. That's why Mrs. Solomon likes her so much. Ms. Woods must feel awful that her mistake almost caused an accident. Since it wasn't on purpose, let Darwin deal with it."

Fiona shot a cold look at Hathaway.

Was Hathaway for real or just playing her?

She seemed to be sticking up for Fiona, but really, she was pinning the blame on her for Brooke's accident.

Yeah, Fiona shouldn't have gone after that stupid ball.

But if someone else set the whole thing up, it wasn't a mistake—it was a setup!

"Ms. Ross, don't waste your breath on the wrong person," Hestia sneered. "From what I hear, this woman is more than just Darwin's secretary."

Hathaway's face went pale.

"Enough," Fiona cut in, her voice icy.

Darwin frowned at her.

"This isn't over just 'cause you say so!" Fiona stepped forward.

Anniston was fuming.

"Fiona, what are you doing?" Darwin moved closer.

"Nothing, if some folks are just out to get me, fine. But going after Mrs. Solomon and almost causing her an accident? That's a no-go!" Fiona's voice was rock solid.

Her presence was just as strong.

"What do you mean?" Darwin's voice was low and serious.

"What else could she mean? She's in deep trouble and scared you'll kick her out, so she's making a scene and trying to drag someone else down with her!" Hestia sneered.

"Shut up." Darwin had enough of her nonsense.

He shot her a glare.

Hestia and Darwin didn't cross paths much.

But she knew all about Darwin's ruthless ways.

When he took over the Solomon Group, he didn't spare anyone, not even his own mom, so she knew better than to push him.

Hestia backed off, putting some distance between them.

Darwin turned back to Fiona. "You think someone set you up?"

"Yeah," Fiona nodded.

"Who do you think you are?" Anniston was fuming.

"Darwin, just now a girl asked me to help pick up a small ball. It was just a few steps away, so I told Mrs. Solomon and went over. In that short moment, a boy showed up, pushed her wheelchair, and ran. He let go at the slope, and after pushing her, he vanished. If I'm right, you won't find those kids now," Fiona explained seriously.

"The surveillance is down, so you can say whatever you want!" Anniston's mouth twitched with anger, then she turned to Darwin. "Darwin, whose side are you on?"

Darwin looked at Fiona.

He was quiet for a couple of seconds, then said, "Henry, find them."

"On it!" Henry nodded and quickly left.

"Darwin?" Anniston couldn't believe it.

"You just said she deliberately harmed Grandma out of spite." Darwin held Fiona's hand, shielding her, and turned to Anniston. "But that doesn't add up. Why would she be spiteful?"

"Because you're gonna marry Hathaway!" Anniston sneered.

"Actually, she's happy that I'm gonna get married," Darwin said coldly, gripping Fiona's hand tighter. "When the engagement news broke, she immediately handed in her resignation and bolted faster than anyone. She came back because I threatened her with her relatives."

Everyone in the Solomon family, including Hathaway, was stunned.

Anniston was livid. "Darwin, what are you talking about!"

"She doesn't want to stay by my side, so she wouldn't hold a grudge and take it out on Grandma." Darwin paused. "I also want to know if this was an accident or deliberate."

Anniston's face darkened.

She glared at Fiona like she wanted to strangle her.

At that moment, the unfamiliar woman spoke up, "Anniston, I have to get back for a party, so I won't stay!"

"If you have something to do..." Anniston started.

"No one leaves until we figure out what happened!" Darwin cut her off coldly.

The woman was stunned. "What... what do you mean?"

"Exactly what I said." Darwin signaled to the bodyguards, then took Fiona's hand and walked to the other side.

Fiona was a bit dazed.

Honestly, when she decided to break with the Solomon family, she was ready for Darwin to be furious.

Darwin always put family honor first. At least, more than he valued her.

"Darwin, what about I take Ms. Woods to treat her face while you talk to your mom?" Hathaway stepped forward.

"No need." Darwin didn't even look back and coldly shut Hathaway down.
