Chapter 150 Whose Good Babies!

Fiona was startled. She headed to Charles's room and found three small suitcases lined up. “Missing your little sister?” she asked, giving her son a kiss.

It was the siblings’ first separation since their birth. Stuart, unlike the emotionally vibrant Chicago, seemed detached. He seldom smiled and carried a solemn demeanor. Since his return, he hadn’t spoken of missing his sister.

“Mom misses my sister too,” Fiona said with a mix of laughter and tears.

At that moment, Burl approached the door sorrowfully. “Sis, are you leaving too?” he asked. Still in school, Burl couldn’t accompany them. Five years prior, he was the first to learn Fiona was alive by implanting a virus in their shared email address, which activated the computer’s camera upon login.

Four years ago, old Allmond didn’t survive the winter. Burl, gifted in IT, was accepted into a prestigious university in Country M and had founded a successful internet company with classmates.

“Charles and Chicago are five now; it’s time they met my mom and grandparents,” Fiona said. “It won’t be long.”

Burl glanced at Charles, concern in his eyes. Fiona understood without a word.

“They won’t have the chance to meet.”

“Just be careful,” Burl said, then turned to Charles, “I'm not convinced, so let's have another round!”

Charles looked at his mother, seeking her intervention.

Fiona smiled encouragingly. “You must let Burl win this time.”

Charles sighed to himself.

Upstairs, Fiona entered her room, removing her jewelry. Burl’s earlier hesitation came to mind. She unlocked her phone to a Chinese news article about Darwin’s proposal to Lilian. Encountering him seemed unlikely.

Even if they did, Darwin was preoccupied with Lilian. Besides, Fiona had changed in the past five years.

She closed the app and made a video call. Chicago’s face popped up immediately.

“What are you up to, sweetheart?” Fiona cooed.

“Auntie Mommy is taking us to eat yummy food!” Chicago said, her voice sugary. Then she began to cry, “Mommy, I misses you!”

“I miss you too! Just wait two more days for mommy and big brother, okay?”

“Big brother is mean!” Chicago pouted, hugging herself. “He ignored my call!”

“Is that so?” Fiona feigned surprise. “Ask him why when he gets here. Maybe he’s busy.”

“I won’t talk to him!” Chicago declared.

“You made Satuart cry yesterday, fought with Wendy today, and now you’re mad at your brother. Should a princess be so temperamental?” Ashton observed.

“I’m a princess; that’s why!” Chicago asserted.

Fiona laughed, and Ashton joined in.

“Why are you laughing? Am I not a princess?” Chicago was puzzled.

“You are, but a princess must be kind to others. How could you bully Stuart?” Fiona guided her.

Stuart had been emotional since the children’s arrival. He cried at every milestone, his tears flowing freely.

Chicago recounted a recent incident in the park, ending with her breathless from the effort.

Stuart had defended her in broken English, causing a scene. Chicago had scolded him, and he had cried.

“Mommy, you said kids should solve their own problems. So I shouldn’t let Chris scare my partners, right?”

“Right,” Fiona realized. “Stuart meant no harm.”

“I forgave him. If he doesn’t scare others, he’s still my good friend!”

They talked until reaching the restaurant.

“We’re here. Say goodbye, Chicago.” Ashton lifted her up, but Chicago resisted, waving to Fiona. “Mommy, I have to eat now. Bye!”

Chicago insisted on walking by herself, taking deep breaths to calm down from her earlier tension. Chris stood out too much, so Wendy was brought to look after Chicago.

Entering the private room, Chicago recognized someone. “Young Master!” she exclaimed.

Ashton’s mother pulled out a red envelope, and Justin handed one to Chicago too.

“Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma!” Chicago accepted the envelopes, bowing respectfully.

Justin and his wife laughed joyfully.

Justin pointed out that none of his children were married or had kids. “I can only envy others’ well-behaved babies!”

Young Master corrected him, “I am your well-behaved baby too!”

Justin beamed with pride and lifted Chicago high. “You’re our very own good baby!”
