Chapter 85 Another One Going Crazy for Fiona!
In the penthouse suite of some swanky downtown hotel, the round bed looked like a tornado hit it.
Eric shoved the chick in his arms away and stormed into the bathroom.
Soon enough, the sound of running water filled the room.
Eric was fuming. He leaned his ripped arm against the wall, letting the cold water cascade over him.
What really got under his skin was Fiona's sneering and mocking from the night before. It just wouldn't leave his head.
"Dirty? A chick who clings to Darwin and sells her looks for a living has no right to call me dirty. Damn it!" He gritted his teeth.
This was probably the first time he ran into a woman he couldn't handle.
Eric felt something was off with himself.
Even when he was with the other woman, he couldn't stop thinking about Fiona.
In the floor-to-ceiling windows and the mirrors, he could vaguely see her graceful figure.
This had been going on since last night, non-stop.
It was like he was poisoned!
He stood under the cold water for ages, but it didn't help.
This feeling of losing control over himself made Eric super uncomfortable.
His eyes turned red with anger. The more he thought about it, the more agitated he got. He swung his fist and punched the bathroom wall hard.
"Fiona! What did you do to me?" Eric's eyes were bloodshot. "No, I have to sleep with her, even if just once! Otherwise, who knows how long this weird condition will last."
After calming down for a moment, a woman's sweet voice came from outside the bathroom.
His eyes darkened. He took a deep breath, regained his composure, and turned to stride out.
Ten minutes later, Eric was busy when his phone rang sharply.
The caller ID showed Hathaway.
His eyes narrowed.
If it weren't for Hathaway, he wouldn't have noticed Fiona. He never liked such delicate women, who couldn't handle any trouble!
The call connected, and Hathaway's anxious voice came through. "Eric, can you help me check on something?"
Actually, Eric was her brother, an illegitimate child.
"What is it?" Eric asked.
Hathaway was about to speak when a woman's voice came from the other line.
She asked, "Fiona?"
Eric became more irritated. "No!"
"Eric, didn't you say you would handle Fiona andbring her back with you? Now is not the time to be fooling around with women!" Hathaway was a bit anxious.
"What do you want?" Eric definitely wouldn't say that he had already tried and was called a dirty man by Fiona.
"Janna seems to have found a potential heir, named Fiona." Hathaway thought of the expensive diamond jewelry.
"Fiona?" Eric was extremely annoyed. "What's her last name?"
"I don't know. I only heard her being called Fiona. I'm not sure of her full name," Hathaway said in a serious tone.
"Got it. I'll look into it," Eric replied.
Hathaway added, "Handle the Fiona situation here quickly. Darwin is getting more and more suspicious lately!"
Just now, her people told her that Darwin was renovating a standalone villa at Emerald Pool and had sent his winter haute couture to a high-end apartment complex. Clearly, he was planning to live with Fiona!
"Okay!" Eric impatiently hung up.
"Darling, who is Fiona? You called that name so many times last night," the woman pouted sweetly.
Eric sneered, "A woman who doesn't know her place."
Fiona had been feeling off all morning.
After bawling her eyes out earlier, even with ice packs, her face was still a bit puffy.
The new company's launch was a mess of endless arguments.
The meeting materials Fiona had prepped were barely touched all morning.
Instead, the bigwigs from Solomon Group and Atlas Group, all decked out in suits, were practically at each other's throats, almost pointing fingers and shouting.
The Solomon Group was a family business passed down through the Solomons.
The Atlas Group was Darwin's brainchild.
The two companies seemed like one, but to the management, they were separate beasts.
Everyone knew the energy company was gonna be a cash cow, and everyone wanted a piece of it.
Darwin sat there, listening to their bickering.
His eyes occasionally drifted to Fiona.
Knowing he liked straight hair, Fiona now always rocked curly hair, just letting it hang loose, making her face look even smaller.
She sat there, staring at the materials in front of her.
She was reading the materials, but Darwin knew she was miles away.
At that moment, an old-timer from the Solomon Group stood up. "Mr. Solomon! There's one more thing we need to clear up."
Darwin snapped his gaze back from Fiona and looked at the guy.
Darwin knew this old-timer; he was part of Anniston's crew.
"Go ahead." Darwin nodded.
"I heard that yesterday at the new factory, Mr. Porter said you planned to give the president position of the energy company to your secretary, Ms. Woods?" The old-timer's tone was dripping with disdain and contempt.
A woman, living off Darwin's support, became the president of the energy company?
Rumor had it Darwin even planned to boot Anniston for this woman.
The Solomon Group had been buzzing with gossip for days.
But in recent years, Darwin had risen fast. At first, these old-timers were thrilled, thinking the Solomon Group had a solid successor.
But gradually, they realized Darwin was ruthless, prioritizing growth over personal ties.
By the time they figured out he could easily deal with them, it was too late.
The core of the Solomon Group was firmly in his grip.
Now, even if they wanted to make a fuss, they couldn't.
If they pissed off Darwin, they might even get canned.
He wouldn't care how much they had done for the company or how many years they had put in.
But the energy company involved such significant interests.
How could he make decisions on his own?
"Yes." Darwin looked at him. "Ms. Woods is capable of handling it."
"Are you kidding? What capability? To climb into bed?" The high-level exec was fuming, even starting to mock her in front of everyone.
Fiona finally snapped out of it.
She looked at the high-level exec from the Solomon Group.
Because of his last words, the conference room was now dead silent.
"Mr. Gibson?" Fiona broke the silence.
Geoffery Gibson snorted, "You sure remember us high-level execs well."
"Remembering everyone's names and positions is my job as the president's secretary." Fiona looked at him with clear eyes. "But you, being old enough to be my dad, how could you say something so rude?"
