Chapter 1043
Burl was slightly taken aback, looking at Chicago in astonishment.
He thought that if Fiona continued speaking like this, Chicago would surely break down.
"First, do you know why Anna doesn't allow Brady to play in the water?" Fiona said.
Chicago nodded. "Brady said he always falls into the water, and Aunt Anna is afraid he'll drown."
"Exactly." Fiona wiped the tears from her face. "If you want to help Brady fulfill his wish, the best way is to persuade Aunt Anna and then go to the river with Dad, Mom, Aunt Anna, or Uncle Burl."
Chicago nodded. "I understand."
"As for helping people in need, sweetheart, you are still children. The most important thing for children is to ensure their own safety first and then call an adult to handle the difficulties of other adults," Fiona continued.
"I know, but she suddenly screamed in pain, and I couldn't help but run over," Chicago said, choking up.
Fiona knew Chicago too well. She always liked to help others, especially when faced with a pregnant woman lying on the ground, crying out in pain.
"I understand," Fiona said gently, "But when you went over, was there anything you could do?"
Chicago thought for a moment and shook her head.
Fiona said, "Exactly. So next time you encounter such a situation, keep a safe distance and tell her that you've already notified an adult to come over, and she shouldn't be afraid."
"I understand." Chicago sniffled a couple of times.
Fiona sighed softly. "Alright, go cry in Daddy's arms; I need to go out for a bit."
"Where are you going?" Darwin immediately asked.
Fiona looked at him. "Comfort Chicago, I'll call you in a while."
"Fiona, can I go with you?" Burl quickly spoke up.
Fiona glanced at him.
"Darwin, don't worry. Everything will be fine with me there," Burl immediately said.
Chicago returned to Darwin's side.
Darwin looked at Fiona, holding Chicago in his arms, his eyes always following Fiona until the door of the ward closed.
Charles looked at Darwin, and Darwin looked back at him. "Charles, is your Mommy mad at me?"
Charles thought for a moment and shook his head. "I don't know."
"Dad, did I make you and Mommy argue?" Chicago asked, choking up.
"No." Darwin gently patted Chicago's back.
If they had argued, it would have been fine, but she didn't even have a word of reproach.
A dozen minutes later, Fiona and Burl appeared in the monitoring room of the interrogation room.
Abigail was handcuffed, sitting in the interrogation chair. Her hair was messy, she had lost a lot of weight compared to before, and her eyes were still full of malice.
Anna and Scarlet, who had arrived a bit earlier than Fiona, were also in the monitoring room.
"She hasn't said a word for so long," Scarlet said, her face full of gloom, as if she wanted to drag Abigail out and beat her up right then and there.
