Chapter 509 It's Only Right to Pay Back Your Mother's Debts

"What do we do now?" Brad said, glaring in the direction of the vanishing Bentley. "Thalassa can definitely afford to pay us back; we’ll just go to her!"

"Alright, I'll find out where she lives!" someone suggested.

"I know!" Brad's wife suddenly exclaimed, smacking her forehead. "Didn't we send her a care package of fiddlehead ferns to her hometown before? She loves those!"

"Find that address, hurry up!" Brad urged her.

Meanwhile, Thalassa, oblivious to her stroke of bad luck, headed straight to the hospital. "Didn’t I tell you there was no need to rush back?" Fiona said with a hint of frustration as she greeted Thalassa.

Charles's surgery was scheduled for Monday. Kenny and Thalassa were supposed to spend the weekend with the elders at home.

"I wouldn’t trust leaving Chicago to Mrs. Janna," Thalassa declared with conviction. "How is Charles doing?"

"He’s doing alright," Fiona replied.

"That’s a relief," Thalassa sighed before diving into the latest gossip about Grandma Solomon and Great-Grandma.

After listening to Thalassa's tale, Fiona was quite astonished. "It's good that Kenny's family is friendly," Thalassa reflected. "You have no idea, these past couple of days have felt so unreal to me, like I'm just floating through life."

"I know, right? Honestly, I never worried about your past," Fiona admitted.

"Why not? Even Charles worries about me, so why don't you?" Thalassa pouted, crossing her arms in mild annoyance.

Fiona looked at her with a smile and said, "I know you're good. Anyone with eyes and brains would be fond of you!"

Thalassa was momentarily taken aback.

Then, casting her eyes downward, she muttered, "That sounds about right. Except for those folks over there, I can't think of anyone who dislikes me."

Even Janna had won her over too.

At the mention of 'those folks,' Fiona slowly began to speak, "So, make sure you handle the greeting money I gave you, and don't let me find out you've been giving money to them. Otherwise, I'll go to the black market and buy ten or eight hitmen to wipe out the Shaw family once and for all!"

Thalassa looked at Fiona with reddened eyes. "You knew about it too..."

"Your husband is worried sick about it, but afraid to ask you directly. He's only got me, his sister-in-law, to talk to," Fiona teased.

Kenny just didn't seem to get it.

He refused to change his tune, stubbornly calling her sister-in-law.

The source of the money remained a mystery. It could have been Darwin who slipped it to him discreetly.

"Don't worry," Thalassa said, glancing in Kenny and Darwin's direction before whispering to Fiona, "I've had the company's legal team prepare the paperwork for the house, and the substantial cash transfer I sent to Maria. If they get greedy again, I'll sue them outright and make them give it all back."

"Good for you!" Fiona wholeheartedly approved.

The domestic property, like the detached villa where Maria and Justin now lived.

The international property that they probably hadn’t managed to deal with yet.

Getting all this back meant Thalassa wouldn't be at such a loss.

Fiona glanced at Kenny.

Perhaps it wasn't just these assets. Kenny might help Thalassa reclaim even more.

Kenny and Thalassa didn't stay at the hospital for long and were ready to head back.

Fiona had to go check on Chicago, so she left with them.

However, as they approached their doorstep, they were met with a commotion.
Fiona's guard instantly went up.

After parking the car, she quickly pushed open the door and got out.

"Who are you people? What are you doing?" Fiona demanded angrily.

"Ms. Fiona!" Mike looked distressed. "These people claim to be Ms. Thalassa's relatives, making a fuss to get inside, holding photos with Ms. Thalassa. We feared they might be real relatives, so we didn't intervene."

"Relatives?"

Fiona turned to the group.

She didn’t recognize any of them.

"Where is the lady and the old matriarch?" Fiona inquired.

"They're over..." Mike stepped forward, whispering to Fiona, "With Ms. Thalassa and Mr. Kenny."

"Uncle Terry?"

Thalassa got out of the car as well and hurried over.

From a distance, she felt she recognized these individuals, which set her on edge.
When she finally got a clear look at the faces of the people there, she was both shocked and angry.

"Thalassa, I finally found you!" Brad immediately started yelling, turning to the bodyguards, "You hear that? I'm her uncle!"

Kenny trailed closely behind Thalassa.

At the sight of these people, a dark shadow crossed Thalassa's eyes.

"Is this Ms. Fiona?" Brad's wife, with a keen eye, recognized Fiona.

She was inwardly astonished.

Maria hadn't lied after all. Thalassa, that wretched girl, was actually good friends with the heiress of the Rhodes family conglomerate, Solomon's mistress.

"Mike, get these people out of here," Fiona commanded coldly. "In the future, if such people come, if they're compliant, just send them away. If not, assert your rights to defend private property, and if you break someone's arms or legs in self-defense, it's all justified."

"Ms. Fiona, we're not here to cause trouble," Brad quickly interjected. "Thalassa, are you mute or what? Won't you say something?"

"I've already cut ties with Maria. What do you want with me?" Thalassa asked sternly.

"Thalassa, your aunt and I are desperate. Your parents owe us over five million, and your siblings are overseas waiting for their tuition and living expenses. They asked us to get the money from you. Please, for the sake of how I treated you in the past, even sending you bamboo shoots, give us the money."

"Yeah, you've got it. Keeping a gigolo, buying him million-dollar sports cars, isn't it only right to pay off your mom's debts?" Brad had always looked down on Thalassa from the bottom of his heart.

To be honest, he looked down on any woman who made a living in the public eye.

Women should stay at home and bear children.

Otherwise, they were being immoral.

The future of humanity relies on both men and women participating in various aspects of life, including financial contributions and family planning.

"Who are you calling a gigolo?" Thalassa exploded.

Pointing at Brad, she said, "Get out, right now! I won't give you a single penny!"

"Hey, you ungrateful girl, is that any way to talk to your elders? I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of your mother today!" Brad raised his hand to slap her.

He had never been courteous to Thalassa.

Especially right after Thalassa's father had passed away.

When he had come to the funeral, he had brought his whole family to stay in Bay City for over half a month, bossing Thalassa around constantly.

Thalassa would never forget how drunk Brad had ranted about the family line ending without a male heir like Charles at her father's wake.

At that moment, she had wanted to confront Brad.

However, her mother had stopped her.

Brad still seemed to think Thalassa was that timid soul who would take the abuse without a fight.

Thalassa was never a pushover.

It was just Maria’s presence that had kept him subdued.

Thalassa was about to snap when someone stepped forward from behind before anybody could react.

With a swift kick, he landed his foot right into Brad’s chest.

Brad let out a pained howl as he hit the ground, and Kenny didn't stop there.

He stepped directly onto Brad’s face.

"Uncle Brad, I guess I haven't introduced myself yet?"
Screams erupted from around them.

Kenny kept his gaze fixed on Brad, pressing down with his foot, and introduced himself word by word, "My name's Kenny, Thalassa's new husband. I look forward to getting to know you."
