Chapter 1211
"Can you find out how many times they've met? And what Aldrich and Brooke talked about?" Fiona asked in a low voice.
"Nope, can't do. They always met in private," Kenny replied.
It was thanks to him finding the personal assistant who was with Brooke during that time that he could even get this much information.
At first, she was tight-lipped, no matter how he asked.
Kenny discovered her husband had heart issues and was waiting for surgery. He promised to get her husband immediate surgery at one of the top hospitals in the world. Only then did she spill the beans.
"That doctor came by a lot, and every time the chairman saw him, his mood tanked. The office atmosphere got so heavy, it was hard to breathe. It's unforgettable." These were the exact words of the personal assistant.
Fiona nodded, "Got it, Kenny. Thanks for your hard work. Ashton must be really affected by all this."
Kenny reassured her, "Don't worry, Fiona. I'll take care of her. You don't need to stress about things here at Emerald Pool; Ashton and I will handle them for you. Just focus on Darwin's situation."
"Okay." Fiona didn't say much more and hung up.
She let out a long sigh.
Mike came back with some desserts. As if a treasurer offering a hard-to-find gem, he handed them to Fiona, saying, "Chelsea, they said this is a new product, and it's really good!"
Fiona took it. Without a word, she opened it and quickly devoured the dessert, leaving Mike stunned.
After the sugar rush, Fiona felt a bit better.
She pulled out her phone and made a call. "Bring Hubert to see me, use force if you have to."
Since the person involved was still around, if she couldn't find out, she'd just ask them directly.
Hubert didn't sleep well all night. For once, he slept in at his own hotel, Starry Century.
First thing after waking up, Hubert checked his chat with Fiona; no messages from her.
But someone named Rose had sent a bunch of messages.
Rose: [Has Fiona contacted you?]
Rose: [Mr. Graham, I still can't believe you told Fiona everything.]
Rose: [What if she doesn't choose to treat Darwin with you? What then?]
Rose: [Why aren't you at the office yet?]
Rose: [Mr. Graham, are you safe?]
Hubert sighed.
He called Rose.
She picked up immediately, "Mr. Graham!"
"Rose, I was just exhausted and overslept. I'm safe, nothing's wrong. Ms. Rhoads is a serious businesswoman; she won't do anything extreme to me," Hubert said calmly, "As for your concerns, stay calm. Even if she doesn't choose our institute, she'll find other top experts for Darwin."
"That's not the same!" Rose said.
"How is it not the same?" Hubert asked.
After a long silence, the call ended. Hubert shook his head helplessly. He slowly went to the bathroom, freshened up, and changed into a comfy set of pajamas.
