Chapter 1395
Rose had just moved into Emerald Pool, and for the past few days, she was on cloud nine, brimming with hope for the future.
Just a bit ago, as she walked through the door, all she could think about was the mouth-watering food she was sure would be there tonight.
But then, everything went south.
It was all a scam!
Rose shot a glare at Fiona, her eyes welling up with tears of anger. "Fiona, people who mess with real feelings never end up well! Whatever my mom did has nothing to do with me. Since you don't trust me and decided to play me like this, there's no reason for me to stick around. Now that Darwin's back, you can't stop me from leaving. I quit!" With that, Rose turned to leave.
But then she heard Fiona chuckle softly behind her.
Rose's heart clenched.
She started to realize something was off.
She picked up her pace.
Just as she reached the door, it swung open before she could touch it. A guy with light blue eyes stood there.
Seeing him was like a lightning bolt on a clear day for Rose.
"Rose, what a coincidence," Leto greeted her with a smile. "Mr. Graham asked me to bring the meds. He and the team are flying back to Armie with Mr. Solomon on a private jet. My flight was a bit later and just landed."
He looked genuinely surprised. Someone else was supposed to handle the meds today.
But early this morning, that person suddenly got sick, so Hubert had Leto take over.
Leto was thrilled.
Because Rose had promised him that once everything was settled, she'd agree to date him.
Looking at Leto now, Rose felt a chill run through her entire body.
If she still didn't realize this was a trap, she'd be utterly foolish!
"What's wrong? You look terrible..." Leto asked, concerned.
A large hand from behind suddenly pushed him forward.
Leto stumbled and turned back angrily to face Christopher. He exclaimed, "What are you doing? I almost fell! These meds are really expensive. Can you afford to pay if they break?"
Rose also looked at Christopher.
Christopher stood at the door like a menacing figure, his tall frame casting a shadow. His expression was tense as he stared at Rose.
"Expensive, huh?" Fiona walked over. "A few hundred bucks for a lethal dose, and you call that expensive?"
Leto was stunned. "Lethal? No, Mrs. Solomon, this is Mr. Solomon's treatment medication!"
"Didn't you switch it out?" Fiona said slowly.
Leto's face turned pale, and he was about to argue when Fiona raised her hand. She said, "The surveillance cameras caught everything. You can't deny it."
"Leto, did you switch the medication?" Rose spoke first, giving Leto a meaningful look before turning back to Fiona, her eyes filled with tears. "Do you think I had anything to do with this?" Rose asked.
Fiona looked at her with a skeptical expression.
"Leto, tell her, does this have anything to do with me?" Rose asked Leto again.
Leto's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed.
Then he looked at Fiona and answered firmly, "Mrs. Solomon, this has nothing to do with her. I wanted to sell the medication for money. Such medication can fetch a very high price. So, I replaced it with a semi-finished product. But rest assured, the semi-finished product has the same efficacy as the medication Mr. Solomon has been using. It's just these few doses, and it won't cause him any harm. I..."
