Chapter 592 Let Me See Him!
In the wake of a frantic search for the vanished nameplate, an outcry erupted in the social media.
"Oh my god, when I went to see the nameplate, it was already gone," the commenter lamented, her frustration palpable. "I even complained that Darwin was being stingy, taking it away so quickly and not letting me see it. Turns out, it's true! My favorite couple has taken the love story's beginning back!"
The accompanying picture showcased the lost and found area, with a conspicuous void marking the absence of the once-displayed nameplate.
A comment hailed her adeptness with words. "Hey friend, you've got a way with words! Thumbs up for that line about the beginning of love."
Meanwhile, others chimed in, reflecting on the emotional resonance of the situation. "People with a need of emotional purity are directly moved by them," one remarked. "Fiona giving Darwin her own nameplate, he must be so happy. The person he fell for on the brink of life and death, going in circles, has finally been found!"
Speculation and admiration continued to pour in.
"They went to get the nameplate. Does that prove that Fiona is Darwin's savior? Darwin, oh Darwin, just think about how you used to bully your savior. Treat her well for the rest of your life!" another exclaimed.
"Just now, the park staff told me that when Darwin left, he donated ten million dollars to the park to replace old equipment!"
Excitement escalated as the implications sunk in. "Oh my god! You can tell that Darwin is truly happy!" someone exclaimed.
Others couldn't help but notice the physical dynamics at play. "Forget about the nameplate, what I see is Darwin leaning on completely against Fiona. Doesn't he know how tall and strong he is?"
The conversation took a playful turn as one commentator teased another. "Friend above, if you can't handle this, then think about what they would do late at night. Hanging on her isn’t too much stuff."
As the morning unfolded, netizens continued their fervent discussion. Suddenly, Fiona's alternate account reemerged, stirring fresh speculation. She reposted a Twitter post from over a dozen years ago, chronicling the day she saved Darwin, accompanied by a picture of the elusive nameplate. "The two points that were deducted have been regained," she announced cryptically.
Surprised reactions flooded in. "Oh my god, you didn't forget your Twitter password?"
In response, Fiona broke her silence. "I've always been using the account, I just haven't been speaking up. #LaughingTillCrying#"
Curiosity reached a fever pitch as users sought confirmation from the couple themselves. "So sister, is it true? Did you really save Darwin?"
Fiona didn't reply. Darwin responded instead, "It's true."
With the revelation confirmed, chaos erupted across the comment section and trending topics. Some decried the excess hype, while others reveled in the romance of it all. Amidst the chaos, pens were readied to document the unfolding love story, as everyone found their own way to partake in the excitement.
Emerald Pool.
Thalassa, her thoughts a whirlwind of worry, hurriedly made her way from the construction site. Biting her fingernail, she paced back and forth in front of Darwin and Fiona, her anxiety palpable in the air.
"Thalassa, why don't you sit down for a moment? You're making me dizzy with all the pacing," Fiona suggested, waving at her friend.
"Wait, you're the one who saved his life?" Thalassa stopped and looked back and forth between Fiona and Darwin.
Fiona nodded. "Yeah, don't you remember? I told you before, I pulled someone out of the lake a year ago..."
"It was the first kiss topic!" Thalassa exclaimed, a sudden realization dawning on her. "We were discussing first kisses, and you asked if giving CPR counted, and I said it did! But then you regretted saving the drowning boy and giving him CPR."
"And then you changed your mind, saying CPR didn't count," Darwin interjected.
"But it does!" Fiona insisted.
Thalassa turned her gaze toward Darwin accusingly. "You must have kissed Lilian. That's why you're so eager to define CPR as a first kiss!"
"No," Darwin replied, furrowing his brows.
The mention of Lilian's name only served to aggravate Darwin further, igniting a simmering frustration within him.
"You've been chasing Lilian for so long and still haven’t even kissed her. Darwin, you're not doing so well!" Thalassa remarked boldly, with Kenny and Fiona nodding in agreement.
Her words struck a nerve with Darwin, causing him to fall silent for a moment before expressing his discontent. "The car accident happened right after we got together. It was divine intervention that protected me."
In reality, Darwin, before he turned into a cold and heartless man, was indeed very innocent when it came to intimate relationships. Lilian took advantage of his innocence to slowly and gradually reel him in. It took over two years for Darwin to finally let his guard down.
Darwin always behaved himself and didn't do anything he shouldn't. They had never even held hands.
Later on, Darwin himself realized that deep down, he didn't really approve of Lilian, which was why he hesitated to get closer to her.
The car accident happened right after they decided to get together, and they had planned to go on a trip to the island a few days later.
If it weren't for the accident... Darwin didn't know what would have happened on that trip.
However, he harbored a realization deep within him. His feelings toward Fiona was primal, something he had never experienced with Lilian.
"You two are quite something," Thalassa remarked, shaking her head. "To endure all of that and still end up together."
"It's destiny," Darwin replied, a hint of pride in his voice.
Thalassa chuckled, rendered momentarily speechless. "Now the question is, how do you plan on dealing with Lilian? And with her being pregnant, it's complicated."
"After all this time, it's about time we wrap things up," Fiona stated calmly.
Later that afternoon, as the workday began, Darwin's proxy lawyer updated a new statement on the law firm's social media account. In simple terms, the statement accused Lilian of impersonating Darwin's benefactor and seeking protection, benefits, and profits under the guise of saving his life. It also mentioned how Darwin had taken care of her over the years due to the favor she had supposedly done for him.
With all the content stated, Darwin was now ready to hold Lilian accountable and pursue legal action to seek compensation. Any compensation received after the verdict would be donated to charitable organizations. In essence, Darwin didn't need the money, but he still wanted her to pay.
After the lawyer's statement came out, it settled once and for all whether Lilian had impersonated Darwin's benefactor. Anthony personally delivered the lawyer's letter to Lilian and was also shocked by the whole impersonation situation. He couldn't even muster his usual professional fake smile when facing Lilian.
"Anthony, I want to see Darwin. I can explain everything. I can explain all of it!" Lilian said as Anthony put down the lawyer's letter and finished his official business before preparing to leave.
Lilian immediately grabbed Anthony's sleeve. Anthony jerked it away, disgusted.
"Lilian, please control yourself. What are you trying to achieve by pulling these tricks, pretending to fall? Do you want to extort money from me? Do you want me to take responsibility for your unborn child?" Anthony's frustration was evident.
Lilian's face drained of color as Anthony continued, "Do you think Darwin would want to see you now? Even if he did, he would only want to kill you. How could you stoop so low as to pretend to be someone's benefactor? Thank goodness you sought a marriage abroad, otherwise Darwin would have been unfairly harmed by you for a lifetime!"
On the brink of a breakdown, Lilian pleaded desperately, "I was wrong. I'm truly sorry. Let me see him, please. The child in my stomach is truly his. I don't want any status; I just want him to take care of me and our child's future. I promise... I promise never to come back again!" "
