Chapter 1476

Melissa looked frustrated. "Go ahead, keep pretending! Don't think I don't know. Ever since I spilled your paint when I was seven, you've hated me!"

Chicago couldn't help but laugh. "Melissa, you were such a little troublemaker at six or seven, even a dog would steer clear of you!"

"Speaking of dogs, I wonder where Jessie ended up in her next life?"

The mood instantly turned icy.

Charlotte had no idea that so many emotions were flaring up between Chicago and Melissa just a few steps away from her.

She took the elevator down to the garage, carrying her laptop, and headed to a quiet little garden. There, she opened her laptop to discuss some issues with her students.

Her right hand was pretty badly injured.

A slight misstep, and the wound would brush against the edge of the wrought-iron table, making her wince in pain.

Charlotte had no choice but to let her right hand hang down to one side.

The student who came to ask questions was a blonde with blue eyes, very lively and cheerful.

When the video call ended, he blew several kisses to Charlotte from his side.

Charlotte remained calm, as if she were used to it.

After closing her laptop, she stretched her neck.

Previously, due to an infection in her wound, Charlotte had a high fever for two days. During that time, she had booked a flight in a daze and ended up booking the wrong time.

By the time she realized it, only the back row of the economy class was available.

When she was younger, she often flew economy class and didn't think much of it.

But it had been a while since she last flew economy class.

This time, the flight left her with a sore back and swollen feet.

She stood up and slowly stretched her limbs.

Suddenly, Charlotte's slender figure tensed up.

She turned her sharp gaze back.

On the small balcony, Charles was standing there, seemingly on a phone call.

Charlotte's piercing gaze collided with Charles's cold, indifferent eyes.

She froze for a moment.

Their eyes met for just an instant before Charles, with a cold expression, turned away and walked back inside without looking back.

Charlotte slowly came back to her senses.

Thinking about Charles's cold face and displeasure, she lowered her eyes and smiled sadly.

'Grown up, huh?'

'Not as cute as before, who are you trying to scare with that cold face?'

Charlotte thought.

A wave of bitterness suddenly surged up.

She turned around. The little garden was empty, so no one saw her eyes quietly redden.

'Father.'

'I finally understand what you meant when you said life is spent in constant pursuit of what we can't have.'

'When I was young, I always wanted to grow up quickly.'

'After growing up, I wish time would slow down.'

The sunlight was particularly nice at that moment.

Charlotte thought for a bit.

She simply lay down on the table and quietly basked in the sun.

Charles finished his call and walked back.

Burl happened to come over.

They exchanged a few words, and then Burl noticed Charlotte lying in the sun. "What's she doing?"

Charles didn't even look. "Sunbathing."

Burl looked surprised. "Charles, has Charlotte been around plants and insects so much that she thinks she's a plant and needs sunlight?"

Charles was speechless.
