Chapter 1151

As Fiona wrapped up her spiel, she caught that lost puppy look in Darwin's eyes.

"Forget it, let's track down Dr. Hubert first. We'll sort this mess out later." Fiona sighed and carefully cleaned up the wound and slapped on a waterproof bandage. "Don't mess it up again."

"I won't," Darwin shot back.

"I'm beat, gonna hit the shower." Fiona hesitated but then gave his hand a tight squeeze.

Darwin squeezed back, almost on autopilot.

Fiona made her way to the bathroom.

As the door clicked shut, Darwin's face twisted.

He shot daggers at the dude lounging on their bed.

"Why don't you look at me when she's around? Scared she'll figure out I'm here?" the other Darwin sneered. "But dude, it was me whispering sweet nothings in her ear, making her fall head over heels for you. That was all me."

"You don't exist!" Darwin said, slow and steady. "You're just my messed-up past. Fiona loves me, just me!"

"If you're so sure, then spill the beans to her." The other Darwin's voice dripped with sarcasm. "If you don't, it means you don't really buy that she loves you."

"She doesn't need to know you exist." Darwin's face turned icy. "You're just a figment of my messed-up mind. I'll see a shrink and get rid of you."

The other Darwin's smirk turned into a snarl. "Fine, go see a shrink!"

He stood up, glaring. "Do you think either of us is the real Darwin? You just hijacked my body when I had memory issues. You, a sad little thing born from my amnesia, will be wiped out!"

Darwin stayed cool until that last line made him freeze.

The other Darwin grinned and then poof, he was gone.

"No," Darwin muttered, shaking off the daydream. "He's just a piece of trash I split off from myself. We were one, can't tell us apart."

Limping, he grabbed the medicine bottle Fiona had tossed on the bed.

He popped two pills and swallowed them.

After a hot shower, Fiona felt a bit more human.

When she came out, Darwin was there with a hairdryer, just like old times.

He helped Fiona dry her hair.

Then they lay down on the bed.

After Darwin returned, he was severely injured and had to undergo a long period of recovery. During this period, he and Fiona exercised significant restraint in their sex life.

But tonight, Fiona couldn't keep her panic in check.

In the dark, it started with a long, pent-up kiss.

As they kissed, both started to lose it.

Usually, Fiona was the one in control. But tonight, that cool, calm vibe was MIA.

She needed something real to cling to, to calm the storm inside her.

Even after all this time, Darwin knew her better than he knew himself.

Time ticked by.

Soon, it was 1:34 a.m.
