Chapter 241 Crafting a Romantic Persona Again?
The studio team was abuzz with energy as if they'd all been injected with adrenaline. Only Laura remained clear-headed amidst the excitement.
"Is Miss Robbins the current flame?" she wondered.
Curiosity had gotten the better of her earlier that day, leading her to do a quick internet search. The rumors linking Miss Robbins and Darwin had been persistent, yet Darwin had never publicly acknowledged any romantic involvement with her. Moreover, on the day of Darwin's car accident, he had called out for Chelsea as his 'wife'—a subtle but telling detail.
Laura mused over the delicacy of the situation as she scrolled through her phone's photo gallery. She found a picture of Secretary Woods, who had tragically passed away in a plane crash, and couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance to Chelsea. Chelsea had claimed that Darwin was once her fiancé. To the public's knowledge, the only fiancée Darwin had ever acknowledged—apart from the one he had personally denied, Hathaway—was Secretary Woods.
Could it be that Chelsea was actually the late Secretary Woods? Was the resemblance more than just a coincidence? Laura felt as though she had stumbled upon a monumental secret. Anxious that others might make the same connection, she quickly deleted the comparative photos that laid bare the uncanny similarity.
Fiona's warning to Darwin seemed to have had its intended effect. She had only received a friend request from Darwin on WhatsApp right before a meeting. His request was oddly charming: "Want to see a kitten?"
She accepted, and immediately, Darwin sent over a picture of a chubby orange cat perched on his lap. "A kid I know gave me a kitten. Thought I'd show you," he texted, followed by another photo of the kitten looking thin and sickly. The pocket the kitten was in looked familiar to Fiona. If there were no surprises, that kid had to be the little one from Chicago.
"I'm about to start a meeting," Fiona responded.
"Okay…" Darwin's message trailed off, his use of ellipsis conveying a sense of forlornness.
After a moment, Fiona added, "Remember to get your shots."
She had figured out that Darwin needed to be handled with care; otherwise, he was prone to erratic behavior. For now, stabilizing the situation was her priority.
Darwin immediately replied with a cute nodding emoji.
Fiona was left speechless. Things were getting weird, but at least it seemed Darwin wouldn't be causing any trouble... right?
She still harbored some doubts, but what she didn't anticipate was the public's insatiable appetite for drama. A woman happened to encounter Darwin and, with her camera at the ready, recorded a video that also captured him kissing someone. The identity of Darwin's companion remained a mystery as her face was not captured.
The first thought that crossed the young woman's mind was that Darwin was cheating again! After Secretary Woods' tragic death, he seemed to be moving from one woman to the next. Driven by the rage of a fan turning into a critic, she was determined to gather incriminating evidence and expose Darwin online, hoping to kick the scoundrel to the curb.
She followed the couple discreetly, failing each time to catch a glimpse of the woman's face. Keeping her distance to avoid detection, she couldn't hear their conversations either, which only added to her frustration.
As Darwin and the woman finished their meal and headed to the parking lot, the young woman became even more anxious, fearing she might not capture the woman's face. But fortune favored her when a gust of wind blew the woman's hair back as they passed a tree, revealing her shoulder-length cut and beautiful earrings that sparkled in the sunlight. The young woman's camera clicked away in rapid succession, desperate not to miss the shot.
When she finally looked at the photos, she was stunned. The woman bore an uncanny resemblance to Secretary Woods. And that hair length...
She pulled out her phone and compared these new images with the widely circulated photos of the corporate tycoon's wife. The hairstyle, the eyes... It was the tycoon's wife!
Raising her eyes to the tall figure of Darwin, she captured his silhouette as he watched his wife drive away. A strange thought crossed her mind: was Darwin in love with this woman, or was he still pining for Secretary Woods?
The more pressing question was, what would the public's perception of this couple be??
Back at home, the young woman organized the photos and, capitalizing on the ongoing buzz about who Darwin's wife was, quickly uploaded them online with the caption: "I think I just ran into Mr. Solomon and his tycoon wife. Can someone help me confirm this?"
She posted all 12 photos, capturing everything from the kiss to Fiona's departure, with Darwin pitifully holding her hand, their lunch together, him seeing her off to her car. The comments started flooding in immediately.
"Sis, you just shot a whole drama series!" exclaimed the top comment.
Others expressed their amazement, "That part where he's holding her hand, Mr. Solomon looks like he's about to cry!"
The video went viral, with people both enamored and skeptical. Some doubted the woman in the video was the same one seen at the funeral, while others questioned the appropriateness of such public displays of affection by Mr. Solomon.
But the young woman had inadvertently stirred up a storm of speculation and sentiment. As the comments and views piled up, the question on everyone's mind was: What was the real story behind Mr. Solomon's romantic persona?
