Chapter 839 Why Isn't the Dream Waking Up?

Rebecca was stunned for a moment.

"Ask them to leave. They don't need to be announced when they come back later. Just drive them away," Stella said the last thing she wanted to say, then looked at Alexander, "Let's go."

Alexander responded.

"Stella!" Adam shouted anxiously, "You talk to me again; let's talk alone!"

Stella looked at Adam.

Adam had shown her a lot of affection before.

But...

Stella shook her head and said, "No need."

After saying that, she ignored Adam's call, tightly held Alexander's hand, and left the hall.

Preston didn't leave. Holding his arms, he directed the bodyguards and servants to escort the White family out.

As Stella headed towards Fiona, she lowered her head, looking at her toes. "Rebecca didn't lie just now. When I was a child, I really lied to others, saying that I was her mother's daughter."

If there were one thing Stella felt most guilty about towards her mother, it would be this.

When Stella was about three years old, her mother, due to severe depression, could no longer take care of her.

Her mother entrusted her to her grandparents and went to seek treatment.

They could only meet once a month.

That incident happened a month before her mother's death.

Kids at school bullied her, saying she was the illegitimate child of a mistress.

Stella was terrified, and those words just slipped out.

After saying it, she turned around and saw her mother, who had bought her a birthday cake, standing not far away, looking at her numbly and despairingly.

After that day, the next time she saw her mother. Her mother was already in the cemetery. She didn't leave any words for her. Until now, whenever Stella occasionally thought about it, she firmly believed that that lie caused her mother's death.

"I lied when I was a child, too." Alexander looked at her.

Stella's attention was immediately diverted, asking, "Didn't you join the church at the age of three? Does priests lie too?"

"I'm a priest, but I'm also a child." Alexander smiled and replied, "I didn't like eating lettuce before, but for a while, I had lettuce every meal every day. I quietly picked it out and threw it away, then lied to God that I had eaten it. After about seven or eight days of this, the church authorities caught me and made me copy the Bible as a punishment."

"How cute." Stella imagined that scene for a moment.

She had seen pictures of Alexander as a child in the album. It was quite different from when he grew up. He was chubby and very cute as a child. Imagine such a cute Alexander being caught by the church authorities, with tears in his eyes, copying the Bible; it was even more adorable.

"There was another time," Alexander continued as Stella seemed to enjoy listening, "Another time, it was too cold in winter, and I couldn't get out of bed, so I lied and said I was sick. When the church authorities asked me where I was uncomfortable, I said I was uncomfortable everywhere. The church authorities were shocked and took me to see a doctor, but after the examination, there was nothing wrong. The church authorities were angry and made me write the Bible three times and clean the church for three months."

"So many punishments? It looks like the church authorities were really angry!" Stella remarked.

"Yeah." Alexander nodded.

Stella looked at him and saw a hint of melancholy in him.

"When you returned to society, did the church authorities get angry, too? Did you get punished?" Stella asked.

Alexander seemed taken aback by Stella's question.

He subconsciously held her hand tighter. "The church authorities are wise. When they asked me why I wanted to return to society, I said I had developed sexual desires for women. The church authorities made me pray in the church for three days, and then they agreed."

"Did he know about you marrying me?" Stella didn't see any churchgoers at the wedding.

Alexander shook his head and said, "When I left the church, the church authorities said that after returning to society, I shouldn't go back or contact them," Alexander's eyes reddened slightly. He had been with the church authorities since he was three years old until he grew up and returned to society.

The church authorities were like parents to him.

"You're not allowed to get back by him, then you followed the order so many years. What if he just said that, but he really misses you?" Stella had been living outside the rules for these years, and now that she was free from constraints, she was even more unruly. "Once things here are settled, I'll take you there!"

Alexander was somewhat surprised.

"If he makes you copy the Bible, give me half, and we'll pray in the church together!" Stella said very generously.

The clouds of worry on Alexander's face disappeared. He nodded gently, "Okay!"

"Hey, not worried anymore?" Stella asked.

Alexander shook his head, thinking, 'Wyatt is really ungrateful.'

'How could Wyatt betray such a good girl like Stella?'

'Fortunately, Wyatt is ungrateful; otherwise, where would he fit in?'

In Bay City.

Wyatt returned to the house where he and Stella had last lived.

There was still a faint trace of her presence in the house.

After using the shower gel she often used, Wyatt lay down in Stella's room and fell into a deep sleep.

It was the longest time Wyatt had ever slept after he knew Stella was getting married. It was so long that Mike was worried he might be dead in there.

Wyatt had a very long dream. In the dream, he went back to the beginning, to the day when Stella was bullied, and he didn't go skiing.

He answered her call immediately, went to her side, and dealt with those who bullied her right away.

They never had a breakup.

After Stella finished her studies, they got married right away.

Later, they had a pair of twins who looked just like her.

But this beautiful dream turned into a nightmare the moment his mother appeared.

His mother hit Stella, and suddenly, the house was engulfed in flames, and the children disappeared in the fire.

He wanted to rush in to save Stella.

But he was held back by his parents and elders.

Then, Alexander appeared.

He rushed into the fire without hesitation and picked up Stella from the flames.

In that instant, the fire disappeared.

It turned into a wedding scene full of delicate flowers.

Stella was in a beautiful wedding dress, kissing Alexander passionately.

"Wyatt!"
"Wyatt, wake up!"
His mother's voice tore through his ears.

Wyatt slowly opened his eyes.

His parents were by his side. He glanced at them, then looked up at the ceiling.

Tears surged from his red eyes.

"Mom, is Stella back?" His voice was hoarse as he looked at his mother.

Ms. Durham frowned, looking at Wyatt with concern, and said in a very gentle tone, "Wyatt, Stella has already married someone else. Don't think about it anymore, okay? Don't do this; Mom and Dad are very worried about you."

Married?

Wyatt's heart was torn with pain.

The scenes from the church kept flashing in his mind. His tears welled up even more. He curled up, clutching his chest, and asked in great pain, "How come this dream... isn't waking up?"
