Chapter 180 Mr. Solomon

Upon Sophia's return, she was greeted by the sight of her grandmother proudly introducing Chelsea to everyone. The situation left her breathless with irritation.

Then her gaze swept the room and finally rested on a butler carrying a tray of champagne.

A quick exchange of glances between them, and he headed towards Fiona.

Arms crossed, Sophia thought, "Trying to steal the spotlight in my own home? Let's see if I allow it!"

Because of Mrs. White's announcement, Fiona was pushed to the front of the crowd.

Surrounded by gazes filled with a mix of emotions, she felt particularly scorched by one.

This unsettled Fiona, causing her mind to wander just as an accident occurred.

A server bumped into her while carrying a tray.

The crowd gasped in shock, even Mrs. White, speaking on stage, looked on in panic.

It seemed inevitable that Fiona would be drenched in champagne when suddenly, a strong hand wrapped around her slender waist and yanked her back.

Champagne glasses shattered on the floor, and most of the liquid missed Fiona, but a splash stained her right hand.

"Chelsea!" Mrs. White, lifting the hem of her gown, rushed over frantically.

Fiona stared at the diamond-studded watch on her wrist, thinking five years should have been enough to forget all traces of him.

But the hand at her waist, the broad chest, and that familiar yet strange scent overwhelmed her in an instant. She didn't even need to look back to know who it was.

"Mrs. White, I'm fine—thanks to this gentleman..." Fiona turned and gave Darwin a friendly smile, "Thank you."

As she spoke, she attempted to step out of Darwin's embrace.

But his hold on her waist didn't loosen, instead, it tightened slightly.

"You're welcome." Darwin spoke to Fiona with a gentle intensity.

"I'm so sorry! My wrist just cramped up, that's why..." the server frantically apologized.

At that moment, Sophia approached.

"Why the panic? Chelsea is such a kind person, do you think she'd hold a grudge over a ruined dress against a server?"

Sophia's eyes darted towards Darwin's arm still around Fiona's waist. This was not how she pictured this to go.

Chelsea was supposed to be soaked in champagne, desperately embarrassed and disheveled.

How could it be that she was in Darwin's arms instead?

"It's all over now, what is she still doing, hanging onto his arms!"

"There's a spare dress in the changing room upstairs, Chelsea. I'll take you to change out of that gown." Mrs. White said.

"Okay." Fiona nodded, and then looked at Darwin. "Mr. Solomon, your hand..."

Darwin stared at her, his deep eyes storming with emotions, looking as if he could consume the woman in front of him the next second.

"Sorry." Darwin finally spoke, releasing Fiona at last.

Then, Fiona followed Mrs. White upstairs. Her short, shoulder-length hair revealed a slender back and beautifully visible shoulder blades, which were quite attractive.

Darwin's gaze followed Fiona with an intensity that felt like a branding iron, unyielding and searing. Fiona could clearly feel it. Fortunately, that burning gaze disappeared after she went upstairs and turned a corner.

Fiona let out a sigh of relief.

"Grandma, is that Mr. Solomon also a guest of yours tonight?" Fiona asked, though she was sure Darwin, or anyone associated with him, had not been on the guest list.

"Yes, Antony, my grandson, just signed a contract with Solomon, and Mr. Solomon happened to be free today, so they came together." Mrs. White answered.

"I see." Fiona nodded.

Perhaps this was the so-called 'inescapable fate'.

Mrs. White did not take Fiona's status lightly. She found a museum-quality velvet dress for her to wear. It was a simple design, but on Fiona, it enhanced her complexion and her figure remarkably.

"If only I had brought a set of emerald jewelry with me today, it would have been perfect, but alas!" Mrs. White said, full of regret, and also feeling sorry that her grandson was not married to a woman like Fiona.

Home and family of the highest order, looks and abilities the same, what a perfect daughter-in-law she would make, far superior to the actresses he had been dating.

"I think this is very nice as it is." Fiona replied gently.

"What a good girl you are!" Mrs. White admired her warm and gentle nature.

After changing, Fiona found an excuse to not hurry downstairs. Mrs. White, being the star of the evening, couldn't stay away for too long and went back down on her own.

Fiona sat in the dressing room, her eyes spotting the wrist that Darwin had grabbed. Her waist was still faintly aching.

That jerk had been too forceful just now.

After sitting in the dressing room for a while, Fiona calmed her emotions. She was no longer the Fiona of the past; Darwin no longer had any leverage over her.

She didn't need to be afraid of him.

Opening the door, Fiona turned around and froze.
Darwin was leaning against the wall, clearly waiting for her.

"Mr. Solomon, were you looking for me?" Fiona asked with unparalleled composure.

Darwin looked at her, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Fiona."

Fiona frowned slightly. "Who?"

Darwin's brow furrowed in response. "Are you pretending not to know me now?"

"Mr. Solomon, you are a legend in the business world. I've heard about you from my elders a long time ago, how could I not recognize you?"

"Fiona!" Darwin's heart felt as though it was being shredded by countless claws.

Pain and rage. She's alive, yet she let him believe she was dead. For five years! Five whole years, she let him suffer a fate worse than death.

"Mr. Solomon, you've got the wrong person, my name is Chelsea." Fiona stared at Darwin, her eyes devoid of any fear.

Darwin's eyebrows remained tightly knitted.

Her gaze towards him was far too unfamiliar.

"I appreciate you helping me out tonight, but I'm not the person you're looking for. Sorry, I must take my leave." Fiona nodded slightly.

She was about to walk downstairs. Just as she took a step, her wrist was grabbed, and then the dressing room door was pushed open again, Fiona was pushed back in by Darwin. He then locked the door.

After five years, this man had become even more domineering.

"Do you think I'm some kind of fool who'll believe anything you say?" Darwin pressed Fiona against the wall, his eyes gradually reddening.

Fiona's brows were tightly locked.

"Mr. Solomon, according to the rumors, you have the power to obscure the sky with just your hand. Is it difficult to find out who I am?" she asked, staring at him.

Darwin stared back at Fiona intensely.

"Or perhaps, Mr. Solomon doesn't care whether I'm the person you're looking for, and this is just a way for you to hit on me?" Fiona sneered mockingly. "But isn't there a lover by your side, Mr. Solomon? I just heard someone discussing Miss Robbins at the party."
