Chapter 492 It's Not Like Nobody Loves Her

Actually, Thalassa herself didn’t know.

Her subconscious complains were really a test for Kenny.

After marrying Kenny, little by little, he rescued her from the muddy errors of her past.

He taught her what being loved should feel like, and that she was worth it.

Today, Fiona's words weighed heavy on her heart.

However, fear kept her from being totally honest with Kenny.

So, when she heard what Kenny said.

She was caught off-guard, and an unprecedented sense of grievance overwhelmed her.

Maybe, she thought, she should just wait a little longer.

Give it more time.

Strengthen her relationship with Kenny a bit more.

She shouldn't just believe him at his word.

Thalassa buried her head in Kenny's chest, wrapped her arms around his waist, and wept, "I'm sorry, I lied."

Kenny was a bit flustered at that moment.

"Don't cry, don't cry, take your time and talk to me, okay?"

Later, Thalassa told Kenny everything about how Maria had come to the company demanding money and after being refused, used the excuse of divorce to take away over seven hundred thousand dollars.

Kenny sat across from her, wiping her tears with a tissue.

He knew Thalassa had given the money.
However, he didn't know that Thalassa had given it because Maria had threatened her with divorce.

"I knew ninety-nine percent she was scamming me, but I just couldn't help wanting to prove something," Thalassa sobbed, looking at Kenny with pitiful eyes, choking up. "We're married now, so that seven hundred thousand should count as part of our marital assets, right?"

Kenny looked at her, feeling both heartache and helplessness.

"First of all, the money was earned before we got married, so it doesn't count. Second, when we got married, you signed a prenuptial agreement stating that whatever you earned was yours."
Thalassa was utterly unaware of this.

Seeing her bewildered expression, Kenny felt helpless. "Honey, if I were a human trafficker, you might have already been sold by now."

"I did read the marriage agreement very carefully..." Thalassa mumbled, then sniffled again.

She had scrutinized the marriage agreement—how much it had disadvantaged Kenny.

"Since my wife has been honest with me, I feel I should be upfront too." Kenny took Thalassa's hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze.

Thalassa's eyes widened instinctively. "You've been keeping something from me too?"

Perhaps, a love triangle.

After all, with Kenny's looks, physique, family background, and intellect, it was unimaginable that no one would set their sights on him.

"Actually, I know about the money you gave Maria," Kenny said, looking up. "You weren't yourself that day, and Justin had just made a payment, a sum that was supposedly unaffordable."

"You knew?" Thalassa blurted out, then suddenly remembered what Fiona had said during the day.

If she didn't tell him everything, he would be hurt.

"Why didn't you ask me about it?" Thalassa lifted her hand to caress Kenny's cheek.

"I just suspected you gave some money, but I didn't expect it was for that reason." Kenny's eyes were full of concern as he continued to hold Thalassa's hand. "Are you still planning to test Maria?"

After a momentary silence, Thalassa shook her head while looking at Kenny. "I don't want to test her anymore."

"Why?" Kenny asked patiently.

He didn't see any issue with Thalassa not being able to let go of her mother.

She gave birth to her and raised her. She had been the dearest person in the world to Thalassa.

For over two decades, her every word and action had been influenced by that woman.

Considering all that, the fact that Thalassa was still mentally and physically healthy, positive, kind, and without any psychological distortion was remarkable.

Thalassa gazed back at Kenny, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's not like I'm unloved."

Kenny paused, then smiled and asked, "By whom?"

"Fiona," Thalassa replied.

"And who else?" Kenny's tone softened even more.

"Grandma," Thalassa continued.

Kenny let out a sigh, persistent as ever. "And who else?"

Thalassa looked at him and finally smiled, "Kenny."

"Right." Kenny nodded with approval. "Remember that I love you, and don’t ever forget it."

Thalassa nodded vigorously as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Kenny reached up and gently wiped away her tears.

Thalassa used to watch movies where one person heals another and always scoffed at the idea as unrealistic.

However, in the brief time she had known Kenny, she was constantly being healed.

"Forget about the Shaw family business, from now on, don't answer calls from any of the Shaw family, and don't pick up calls from unknown numbers either," Kenny whispered assertively. "I promise, within three months, you won’t be bothered by the Shaw family ever again."

"No!" Thalassa quickly shook her head. "Don't get involved with them; don’t let them find out who you are. Justin's greed knows no bounds…"

Thalassa's concern made Kenny even more delighted.

"It's alright," he said tenderly, interrupting her. "He won't get the chance to be that greedy with me."

Thalassa paused, taken aback, then her face registered shock. "You don't mean you're going to kill him, do you? That’s illegal!"

Kenny laughed. "I'm not breaking the law!"

"As long as it's legal, then, I'll follow your lead," Thalassa said softly.

"Good." Kenny leaned in and gave her a kiss.

Thalassa shivered slightly.

"No wonder you suddenly wanted to go out, you were trying to keep me hidden, weren't you?"

"Exactly." Kenny nodded. "But there's no need for that now. You should work when you need to, spend time with Charles when you should, and we can go out when we have a vacation."

"Alright."

After agreeing, Thalassa hugged Kenny tightly.

"Kenny, thank you."

His hand gently soothed her back. "But, Thalassa, I'd rather you focus more on me than on those troublesome people."

"I know."

"So, how much longer do I have to wait for my ring?" Kenny asked, freeing one hand and presenting it to Thalassa. Her ring finger was conspicuously bare.

"Very soon," Thalassa reassured, having already drawn up the design but not having had the time to have it made.

"Good." Kenny said with a smile, not pressing her on how soon 'soon' was.

That night, the Daren family was finally reunited in a foreign land. Daren was eager to start learning again, hoping his mother could be cured, and his sister could have a safe future.

Fiona and her husband were filled with anticipation, hoping Charles would recover fully after his bone marrow transplant.

After an honest conversation, Thalassa and her husband had made leaps in their relationship. However, Maria still hadn't satisfied her desires, once again doubting her allure to Kenny.

The most unfortunate was the Shaw family.

Chris, having been hung up on by Thalassa, cried his heart out in the car.

Maria took a cab home alone, sending many vulnerable texts to Justin, all of which went unanswered.

Of course, Justin didn't ignore her on purpose.

He spent the night drinking at a bar and was assaulted in the restroom, left beaten half to death. By the time Maria's messages came, he was already unconscious in a toilet stall.
