Chapter 755 Gentle Indulgence
[To be honest, has anyone ever doubted the whole process of Darwin's accident? It all started because his wife was kidnapped, and he rushed to save her, and then the accident happened... But it seems that his wife wasn't actually kidnapped, right? I heard she was there when Darwin had the accident!]
[Yeah, she was there, but she didn't help!]
[I've been wanting to say this. A friend who knows Secretary Woods mentioned that Secretary Woods was actually fed up with Darwin because of Lilian's matter. Maybe Fiona thought about getting rid of him... Now that the Solomon family wants to divide the inheritance, a Darwin suddenly appears by her side. It's really terrifying!]
[If the story goes in that direction, I actually think it's quite exciting. Isn't Secretary Woods a ruthless and powerful woman?]
[I advise you to think more rationally. Marriage is not a life sentence. If she's fed up, she can just get a divorce. Why does she have to kill someone? Darwin has been good to Fiona, right? Besides, it was later confirmed that Fiona was his true first love, and he mistook Lilian for someone else, and nothing happened between him and Lilian, right?]
[Come on, only naive people would believe that case of mistaken identity. Can't you see the obvious signs of a scripted drama? As for whether Darwin and Lilian had a relationship, unless you were in their bed, how would you know?]
Late at night, Thalassa sent screenshots of these Facebook comments to Fiona.
"These idiots, are they just looking for trouble? They're making up all sorts of things."
Fiona finished her walk, dealt with some work, and then finished her homework while waiting for Chicago. Just finished showering and ready to rest, Fiona glanced at the screenshots and noticed something.
"Thalassa, it's late, why are you still online arguing with people? Be a good girl, turn off your phone and go to sleep immediately!" Fiona sent a voice message. Thalassa was the kind of person who wouldn't care even if she was being scolded online, but if someone spread rumors about Fiona, she would spare no effort to retaliate.
"Look at the first few comments from the Solomon family. Are the people from the Solomon family causing trouble and spreading rumors?" Thalassa replied. "Darwin's father came to claim the inheritance last month!"
"I'll have someone look into it. You go to sleep."
Thalassa reluctantly agreed. Fiona turned off her phone and pushed open the door. The next day, Chicago and Charles were on vacation, and the two little ones were still awake. The 3A game Burl participated in was launched. Charles was playing with Darwin. Chicago didn't know how to play, so she sat next to her dad, cheering him on. She saw Fiona come in and quickly waved.
"Mommy, Daddy is so amazing! I can't understand this complicated game, but my brother and Daddy explained the rules to me, and Daddy can play! So smart!" Chicago kept praising.
Darwin felt a little embarrassed.
"Daddy is amazing," Fiona replied with a smile, then looked at the time. "After this round, you should stop playing. The children should go to sleep, and both you and the children shouldn't stay up late."
"Got it," Charles and Darwin said almost simultaneously.
The game ended quickly. Chicago was too excited to sleep, so she pestered Fiona to tell her a bedtime story.
"Mommy hasn't told me a bedtime story for a long time!" Chicago coaxed in Fiona's arms, "Can you tell me one?"
"Sure!" Fiona agreed.
Chicago immediately lay down obediently. Fiona used to tell stories to Charles and Chicago. Those stories were already familiar to her. She dimmed the indoor lights, her voice was melodious and gentle, and she began to tell the fairy tales her grandmother used to tell her.
Darwin leaned back on the bed. His deep and gentle gaze settled on Fiona. He wanted to drown in her tenderness. Chicago, who had just been making a fuss, quickly fell asleep in Fiona's gentle voice. Charles had no trouble falling asleep. He could sleep as soon as his biological clock struck.
After finishing the story, both children were already asleep. Fiona tidied up their blankets, and then gently kissed the foreheads of the two children. It's probably time for school. Charles and Chicago have changed a lot this year. They seem to have suddenly become little adults from children who couldn't leave their mother. Their features are less blunt and more three-dimensional. They are becoming more and more like Darwin. Tonight, Charles and Chicago didn't sleep on either side, they obediently made room for Fiona.
"Last year, our family slept in a bed of about the same size, and it felt empty, but now it's crowded." Fiona turned to look at Darwin and couldn't help but sigh, "They grow up so fast, it feels like if you blink, they will all grow up and leave us."
Darwin reached out to her. Fiona held his hand tightly. Darwin embraced her again, holding her and kissing her forehead. "It's okay, I'm with you."
Fiona gently laughed, then she looked at Darwin, and leaned over to kiss his pale lips. The poison Gray gave Darwin had not been completely eliminated. To some extent, it had caused some coagulation problems for Darwin.
"I have to go to the company tomorrow, I probably have to stay all day, and I'll leave Charles and Chicago to you." Fiona gently stroked Darwin's cheek and said, "Chicago took over the job of teaching you to read today, she is proactive, and she will probably start teaching you tomorrow."
"Chicago has already mentioned it." Darwin kissed her fingertips gently.
"Can we go home the day after tomorrow?" Darwin didn't feel safe staying in the hospital. On the island, the first thought that came to his mind when he woke up was to go home. After Fiona found him, his desire to go home became even stronger.
Fiona nodded, then whispered in his ear, "Once we're home, I'll ban these two little things from sleeping in our bedroom! It's quite a hassle. You worry that they might wake up suddenly."
Darwin's ears turned red, but he smiled and nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you."
"Sleep well and get enough rest, that's how you'll recover quickly."
"Okay." Darwin gently touched Fiona's lips and held her hand tighter.
In the late night, Chicago woke up from a nightmare again. She looked around in panic. When she saw Darwin, she crawled over, crying. Fiona and Darwin both woke up.
"Mommy!" Chicago went to hug Fiona first.
"Did Chicago have another nightmare?" Fiona hugged her and kissed her.
Chicago choked out a reply. Fiona comforted her for a while, then let her sleep between her and Darwin. Then she looked at Charles. Seeing that he was sleeping soundly, Fiona lay down and patted Chicago's back, who was still sobbing.
