Chapter 739 Fall For a Woman out of My League
Fiona was shocked.
Paralysis...
"Do the Gray family intend to keep Darwin by Aura's side forever using this method?" Burl exclaimed angrily, "Cyrus and Gray seemed honest and trustworthy, but deep down, they are malicious!"
"What about Mike?" Fiona's heart was torn apart. She took a deep breath and asked coldly.
"He is already on his way here. He brought Cyrus and Gray!" Burl replied, then became very worried about his sister. "Sis, you look terrible; are you okay?"
Fiona waved her hand. "I'm fine; I'm just furious."
She clenched the examination report in her hand. "What the hell did these bastards do to him?"
"Don't worry, we'll return everything twofold later! No one can bully our family," Burl said angrily.
"Madam, Mr. Solomon seems to be waking up!" Christopher hurried over.
Fiona immediately handed the report to Burl and rushed toward the ward.
Harold went to buy her some food.
He called Fiona, but she seemed to have not heard, so she went straight into the ward.
Harold stood still pitifully, looking at Darwin's ward.
Sure enough, when Darwin appeared, there was no one else in Fiona's eyes.
On the sickbed, Darwin frowned, breathing heavily.
Fiona sat next to him, holding his hand. "Darwin, are you awake?"
Darwin heard Fiona's voice.
Gradually, he calmed down. After a moment, he gently breathed and slowly opened his eyes.
"You're here," he said, his throat a little dry, "This isn't a dream."
"Of course not, I found you!" Fiona said, her voice choking up. "The doctor just examined you. Yes, there are some old injuries, but we'll take good care of them, and you'll recover soon."
Darwin looked at her greedily and intently. He knew his body well. What normal person would cough up blood so easily?
But...
"No big deal," Darwin held her hand tightly. "You really don't intend to leave me?"
"You are my husband, my only love. Why would I leave you?" Fiona quickly said, "Did Aura and others tell you that I don't want you?"
Darwin looked at her pitifully.
"I remember you didn't love me. You always wanted to leave me, and I was scared that you would leave."
Fiona's heart broke.
"We just had an argument back then!" Fiona didn't lie to Darwin that he was overthinking. "Afterward, we cleared up the misunderstanding and made up."
"Is that true?" Darwin's voice trembled and choked.
"Yes! I'm not lying to you!" Fiona took out her phone again and showed Darwin a video of Chicago and Charles. "They are our children. Before your accident, we were a happy family!"
Darwin looked at the video, seeing the cute girl happily playing in his arms and the handsome boy standing beside him.
Tears welled up in Darwin's eyes.
He almost missed it again, just because of some deep-seated memories that made him hesitate to acknowledge her.
"All right, let's stop here for today." Fiona put away her phone and gently looked at Darwin. "I'll take you home to meet them soon."
"Okay." Darwin nodded.
"Are you still having a headache?" Fiona asked anxiously.
After just taking the scans, the blood clot in his brain seemed to have disappeared. The doctor said that his memory loss was likely related to the accident. Of course, it couldn't be ruled out that his head had other injuries from the fall into the sea. It's been too long, making it difficult to determine.
"I'm fine." Darwin shook his head but continued to worry as he looked into her eyes.
Fiona immediately took the initiative and said, "It's okay. I just changed the fresh dressing for your wound. It wasn't a serious injury, just a superficial wound. You don't have to worry."
"Did you get hurt?" Darwin asked.
"No." Fiona shook her head and suddenly felt sad again. "Darwin, I want you to hold me."
Darwin's heart ached, and he wanted to get up, but Fiona was quicker. She took off her shoes, climbed onto the bed, and nestled into his arms.
Listening to Darwin's heartbeat, Fiona bit her lip and closed her eyes tightly.
Darwin encircled her with his arm and hesitated for a moment before lowering his head to kiss her forehead. "I'm sorry."
Fiona immediately shook her head and choked out. "It was my carelessness. I fell into the trap of a bad person. Knowing it was a trap, you still risked your life to save me."
Darwin didn't remember any of this. He held Fiona tighter. "We will never be apart again!" Fiona continued, "It was so painful. I thought of you every day, to the point of madness, but I couldn't show it. I was needed everywhere."
Fiona clung to Darwin's chest, tears flowing uncontrollably. Darwin felt both heartbroken and flustered, not knowing how to comfort her. All he could do was hold her tighter. After a while, Fiona cried herself to sleep, probably because she was exhausted and with Darwin by her side.
Darwin looked down at her, carefully tucking her in.
He held her all the while.
During his time on the island, Darwin actually felt very insecure, except when he was in a deep sleep due to illness or pain.
Otherwise, he could never sleep soundly, always alert to everything around him.
He thought that was the norm for injured people.
But now, holding Fiona, he felt a sense of security in his heart.
His soul was more relaxed than ever before, no longer filled with those inexplicable alerts.
Outside the ward, Harold, disheveled and with a stained shirt, paced outside the hospital room. Normally a dignified young master, he was now wearing flip flops with messy hair. The hot drink he bought had turned cold.
Christopher constantly answered phone calls from various people, while Burl responded to messages. Occasionally, Burl and Christopher had to deal with hospital staff. Only Harold had nothing to do.
Once Fiona entered the hospital room, she never came out again. Harold could imagine that she loved Darwin so much that she would never leave his side.
"Harold, go get some sleep. You look exhausted," Burl said, receiving another report and observing Harold, who was distraught and absent-minded with sympathy. Burl walked over and sat down beside him, showing concern.
"Burl, someone once told me that falling for a woman out of my league at a young age would be painful. At that time, I didn't understand, but now I finally do." Harold sighed deeply, leaning his head against the hospital wall. "If I can't be with her, I'll be trapped in endless regret and pain for the rest of your life."
Harold didn't know who to blame. Should he blame the beautiful sunset that evening? Should he blame himself for wanting to escape the party? Or should he blame Fiona for climbing out the window at that time?
