Chapter 1432
Before Darwin fell overboard, a producer she had met a couple of times suddenly contacted her. The producer was planning a reality show about couples and asked if she and Darwin would be interested in participating.
Fiona didn't even think about it before she declined.
First, she didn't like the idea of showcasing her private life to the public.
Second, her relationship with Darwin was quite unstable at the time, and shortly after, the whole Lilian pregnancy drama unfolded.
"If you're happy, that's all that matters," Fiona said, squeezing Darwin's hand, which was tightly interlocked with hers.
She was considering that if the producer approached her again, she might give it some thought.
It would be a way to make Darwin happy and give him a sense of security.
Even though it was a midnight movie showing, the theater was nearly full because it was a popular new release.
After the movie ended, Darwin was fuming.
"His wife loved him so much, and he killed her just for money!" Darwin was still seething as they left the theater.
"Yeah, it's outrageous. I heard it was based on several true events combined," a girl behind them said, equally indignant.
"True events?" Darwin turned around, frowning.
The girl looked up, ready to join in the shared outrage, but froze when she recognized Darwin.
"Sorry," Fiona said apologetically, dragging Darwin away.
"Was it really based on true events?" Darwin asked Fiona.
"That's what I heard," Fiona said, gently patting his back. "Calm down, calm down. Those bad guys were all brought to justice."
"Death penalty?" Darwin pressed.
Fiona hadn't really followed up on that.
"Probably!"
"People like that deserve to be cut into pieces!"
"For someone who's infamous online as a jerk, you sure have high standards," Fiona muttered.
Darwin's arrogance immediately deflated.
"I've changed. I'm not a jerk anymore," Darwin mumbled.
"Okay, okay, I'll find a way to clear your name. Let's go home first," Fiona coaxed him.
Darwin was very pleased.
He didn't really care what others said about him or about clearing his name, but he was happy that Fiona was willing to comfort him.
The girl who had locked eyes with Darwin slowly came back to her senses.
She pulled out her phone and quickly tweeted.
"Oh my God! Just saw Darwin after the movie! Even a jerk like him was furious at the movie's jerk of a main character. Ms. Woods is so beautiful! Still mad at Darwin for stealing my wife!"
Since she mentioned Darwin, the comments quickly started rolling in.
"Wasn't there a rumor recently that Darwin died from an old injury?"
"What? Darwin is still alive?"
"I told you guys not to believe everything you read. Darwin has been recovering abroad. He was even at the Solomon Group AI base last month. Stop hating! Darwin and Fiona are still in love!"
"Twitter isn't a wishing well. Darwin may be a jerk, but he can't die!"
"Seriously? Ms. Woods took Darwin to see that movie?"
Someone even posted a fresh photo in the comments.
It was a side shot of Fiona and Darwin, shoulder to shoulder, fingers intertwined, talking.
"Not sure what they were talking about, but Darwin was really pissed at the movie's jerk of a main character. Ms. Woods seemed to be comforting him. I almost died laughing. I managed to snap this one photo before Darwin was all cheered up. Too bad I didn't capture the whole transformation!"
"After all these years, the 'Ms. Woods can calm Darwin in three seconds' joke still holds true."
"Am I the only one who noticed their matching outfits? Darwin looks so young when he's not in a suit. He doesn't look like an old man at all!"
