Chapter 738 Got You
Upon hearing that voice, Aura's hair stood on end.
She instinctively turned back.
She saw Fiona running down the spiral steel staircase.
Aura's hand was trembling uncontrollably as she looked at Darwin beside her.
He didn't turn around.
But his face was flushed with a sickly shade that wasn't there before.
"Yes, don't look at her. You can't look at her; you are mine," Aura murmured in a deranged manner.
"Aura!"
At a glimpse of the figure, she instantly recognized that the person Aura was clinging onto was the lover she had yearned for and searched for months.
Her heart broke.
After calling out "Aura," she suddenly missed a step and fell down the stairs.
Though just three steps were remaining, the fall was quite intense.
"Madam!"
"Sister!"
"Fiona!"
Three voices rang out one after another.
Darwin also heard the commotion and immediately turned around.
He saw Fiona, pale-faced and wearing eye protectors, standing up with the support of an elegant man.
Darwin's heart ached.
He turned around, intending to go to her side.
But Aura went completely crazy and forcefully pulled Darwin back. "Look at how many men are around her! She is not loyal to you at all. Be with me; I am the only one who will be loyal and devoted to you!"
As she spoke, Aura pushed Darwin toward the dangerous edge of the mast.
"Aura, what are you doing?"
Fiona's knees were already not in good condition since being attacked last year. And she had just fallen heavily again. Now, her knees were throbbing in agonizing pain.
When she saw Aura pushing Darwin toward the edge of the mast, she immediately became alert.
She couldn't care less about the pain and wanted to rush over immediately.
"Don't come over! No one is allowed to come over!" Aura grabbed Darwin and hysterically shouted at them, "He is not Darwin; he is my fiancé Blaise!"
Fiona's eyes turned red.
She looked at the man next to Aura. He had grown his hair long and seemed to have become thin as a skeleton. He turned his face away, unwilling to look at her for some reason.
"Aura, I'll give you one last chance. Give him back to me now, and I won't hold you responsible for hiding him," Fiona said word by word, "If you dare to harm him, I will personally kill your brother and mother right in front of you! I always keep my word!"
"Who are you to treat me?" Aura shouted hoarsely, "You have so many outstanding men. The one beside you, and the ones who haven't even come to the island! With so many men for you to choose from, why do you have to snatch mine?"
"You're talking nonsense!" Burl, who had just snapped out of his shock upon realizing that Darwin was really on this island, heard Aura's grandiloquence and couldn't help but speak up, "Darwin is her only lover. Don't you dare tarnish her reputation!"
Darwin suddenly froze. And then his headache began to throb again, almost splitting his head apart.
"Darwin, what's wrong with you?" Fiona saw him clutching his head, looking panicked, and wanting to go to him.
"No one is allowed to come over!" Aura screamed excitedly.
"Aura, please calm down, even if it's for the sake of Cyrus and Gray," Darwin struggled to speak, "Let go!"
"It's impossible!" Aura looked at Darwin, her tears streaming, her eyes filled with bottomless despair. "Since that woman won't let us live together, then let's die together!"
As she finished speaking, she held on to Darwin and lunged toward the sea.
In the critical moment, Christopher drew out his gun and shot Aura in the shoulder without hesitation.
Aura winced in pain and loosened her grip on Darwin instinctively.
But even before they could shoot, the two of them were already flipping over the barricade, getting very close to sea level.
Even though Aura had loosened her grip slightly, Darwin still fell down.
But at the last moment, Darwin grabbed onto the edge of the ship's deck.
However, the effects of the medicine on Darwin's body wore off, and he lost his grip instantly.
Just before he was about to fall, a pair of delicate hands grabbed onto his failing hand.
Darwin looked up in astonishment. He saw the face that he had longed for.
"Don't be afraid. I've got you!" Fiona's tears flowed uncontrollably.
Darwin had a splitting headache, and tears streamed down uncontrollably from his eyes.
Soon, Christopher, Burl, and others soon rushed forward to help Fiona pull Darwin up.
In the next moment, Fiona hugged Darwin tightly.
"I'm sorry, I should have found you earlier." Fiona choked, sobbing while holding onto Darwin.
From the time before Christmas when Darwin went missing at sea to now when spring was blooming and summer was approaching,
Fiona had never cried like this before.
She had been holding back, but suddenly, she lost all restraints, and emotions burst forth all at once.
"I..." Darwin's head still hurt.
He raised his hand and gently hugged Fiona. The next moment, he tightened his arms around her with all his strength.
"I forgot, I don't remember anything. I thought you didn't want me anymore." His words were somewhat incoherent.
"Forgot?" Fiona instinctively touched his head.
Darwin, as if instinctively, rubbed her palm lightly.
"It's okay; it's all okay." Fiona repeatedly shook her head, pushing away his embrace while holding his cheeks with both hands, carefully looking at his current appearance through tear-filled eyes.
Darwin thought of the scar on his face and tried to avoid it, but Fiona held his cheeks firmly, gently rubbing her fingertips on his face.
"Let's go home. Chicago and Charles miss you every day." Fiona's tears fell on Darwin's hand.
"Chicago and Charles?" Darwin slightly furrowed his brows.
Fiona sobbed. "They are our daughter and son."
Darwin's headache worsened.
There was a sharp pain in his chest, and then he turned his head aside and spat out blood.
"Darwin!" Fiona was startled.
"Quick, call a doctor!" Fiona hugged Darwin and immediately shouted.
The dock was already in chaos.
After Darwin spat out blood, he lost consciousness in a dazed state, but before losing consciousness, he tightly held onto Fiona's hand.
Darwin was really scared that it was just a beautiful dream he had while in pain, in which she loved him and didn't want to leave him and would do everything to bring him back to her side.
So instinctively, Darwin grabbed Fiona's hand.
Darwin was rushed to the hospital in the capital overnight, and Fiona immediately mobilized all the doctors, medical resources, and medical equipment available.
In short, she had done her best.
The results of each examination were sent to Fiona immediately.
Fiona looked at those shocking results, and her heart broke again and again.
"Poisoning?"
Finally, when Fiona saw the toxic reaction report of Darwin's body.
She was shocked.
"Yes, since the time of ingestion was short and the dosage was small, the impact should not be significant," the doctor replied, "but if the dosage is large or taken for more than two months, it may cause nerve necrosis and paralysis." "
