Chapter 1442

Carla plopped down on the ground, laughing.

Fiona looked confused. "Carla, you can't laugh. I worked hard to get 100 points so I could give you a prize!"

She huffed and shoved the pinwheel into Carla's hand. "You're mean. I don't wanna be friends with you anymore!"

With that, Fiona started to run off again.

But Carla grabbed her, pulling her into a hug, and kissed her chubby cheeks repeatedly. "No way, Fiona. You gotta be good to Mommy forever."

Fiona was easy to cheer up.

Carla kissed her a couple more times, and Fiona giggled, reaching out her chubby little hand to gently hold a strand of Carla's long hair.

Carla's hair was beautiful, long and shiny, and it always smelled nice.

That evening, Aishah cooked up a feast, making it feel like a holiday at home.

Before dinner, Carla bathed Fiona.

Fiona changed into a little outfit that Aishah had made herself, a floral top and matching pants. Aishah had also bought her new sandals, pink and cute, perfectly matching her clothes.

Fiona was overjoyed, eating heartily.

The three adults couldn't help but laugh from time to time.

After dinner, Fiona's belly was round and full. The four of them sat by the wisteria in the yard, with Joshua and Aishah gently fanning the air.

The night sky was filled with stars.

Fiona stared at them and suddenly said, "When I grew up, the stars seemed to drift away. I haven't seen such a beautiful sky in a long time."

She paused, surprised at her own words.

Then Fiona suddenly looked to her sides.

"That's how it is when you grow up," Carla said, still as gentle as Fiona remembered. She smiled with tears in her eyes, looking at Fiona. "My darling, I'm so sorry for leaving you so early, making you grow up so lonely."

"Yeah, we promised to be together forever," Fiona cried, tears streaming down her face.

"Luckily, you have a resilient spirit and grew up so well, making me so proud," Carla said, gently tucking Fiona's loose hair behind her ear. "It's almost time."

"Time for what?"

Fiona suddenly felt anxious.

"Time to say goodbye," Joshua's large hand gently rested on her head, and she could even feel the roughness of his fingertips.

"Are you leaving me?" Fiona was frantic.

"You don't need us by your side anymore. He will be with you from now on," Carla said, turning around.

Fiona instinctively followed her gaze.

On the big bed inside, Darwin was holding her, fast asleep.

She turned back, crying.

The three people beside her had already stood up, waving at her as they walked towards the door.

"Don't go."

Fiona hurriedly got up.

The door opened, and the three of them stepped out one by one.

Little Fiona jumped off the porch, and in her haste, she fell hard.

"Fiona."

A worried voice called from afar.

Fiona looked towards the door.

Joshua was holding Aishah's hand, Carla standing beside them, waving at her with a smile.
