Chapter 1231
After Lucian yelled, he was ready to leave with his crew.
"Uncle Lucian, this is a meeting, not a party. The meeting isn't over yet and you're already heading out? Are you planning to quit?" Wyatt's voice turned serious.
Most of Lucian's crew held positions in the Durham group.
Hearing this, everyone froze.
No one expected Wyatt to be elected as chairman.
So, a few of them were now feeling pretty confused.
"Isn't your goal to become chairman? Well, I'm out of the race!" Lucian said, "This shareholders' meeting is pointless now. Congrats, Wyatt."
Wyatt stood up too.
Rumor had it that Lucian had been sick as a kid, with a high fever for days, which stunted his growth, making him barely 5 feet tall.
Wyatt was nearly 6 feet tall. Standing up, he towered over Lucian.
The tension was thick.
Wyatt tapped the documents in front of him. "I haven't settled the accounts yet, why are you leaving?"
Lucian dropped his act.
Wyatt showed he wasn't backing down either.
Lucian's breathing got heavy. "In business, there are always profits and losses. What accounts are you talking about? Your dad never settled accounts with me. Why are you coming after me now?"
"My dad trusted you and even put up with you during your tough times. But that doesn't mean the mess you made won't be dealt with by the group. Now that the leadership has changed, it's time to settle things!" Wyatt said firmly.
"Mr. Durham, I'm all in for the company. I don't belong to any of your upper circles, nor do I belong to any team!" A shareholder who almost sided with Lucian quickly raised his hand to show his stance and then sat back down.
Then more people showed their stance and sat back down.
In no time, only a few of Lucian's closest allies were still standing behind him.
But now, they were feeling uneasy too.
"Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Durham, let's calm down and talk this through," someone tried to mediate.
Lucian struggled to keep his anger in check.
"Settle accounts?" He smirked, then straightened his wrinkled suit and sat back down. "Fine, as your uncle, I won't argue with you, and this will completely end our relationship!"
How could Lucian not know about the current chaos in the Durham group?
Not only was the upper management in turmoil, but even the factories were a mess.
The tricky issue he mentioned was real.
What Lucian couldn't fix, Wyatt shouldn't even think about fixing.
'Even if the Rhoads group and Darwin were willing to help Wyatt spend money to save it, so what? This is just the final struggle!' Lucian thought.
Wyatt would come asking him for help.
The more glorious it seemed now, the more awkward it would be when Wyatt came pleading later.
Lucian originally thought Wyatt would use the suspicious points in the projects he had been involved in to humiliate him in front of all the shareholders.
But Wyatt didn't.
