Chapter 846 His Pride
Wyatt's inherent pride, Stella understood it the best.
He would come from afar to seek reconciliation with her. In Stella's eyes, it was already the limit of Wyatt being able to set aside his pride.
After all, in the end, at the wedding, he was no different from a regular guest. He didn't do anything extreme.
How did he suddenly end up in such a critical condition?
Stella really couldn't understand.
Was he really doing this for her?
Actually, even if Wyatt came to reconcile, Stella didn't think Wyatt really loved her.
At most, it was just something he had been accustomed to for a long time, suddenly no longer belonging to him.
He was a domineering young master, not used to it, unwilling to accept it.
But if it was just a matter of being unaccustomed and unwilling, would he go to the point of life and death?
With these doubts in mind, after a long and tiring flight, Stella and Alexander landed at the international airport in Bay City.
They had just come out when Stella saw Preston excitedly holding a sign waiting for them.
Along with him was Fiona, wearing a mask and sunglasses.
When she met Fiona, without saying a word, they hugged each other tightly.
Fiona gently patted Stella's back, saying, "You've had a long day."
After the plane landed, Stella and Alexander didn't rush to the hospital immediately. They first went to the hotel arranged by Fiona. After freshening up and changing into clean clothes, they finally went to the hospital together.
Perhaps because Fiona had told Wyatt yesterday that Stella was coming, he seemed to have heard it. His overall condition today was not bad.
"Miss White!" Emma, who had also changed into a different outfit and looked a bit more refined, saw Stella and immediately walked up to her, tears welling up in her eyes, and held Stella's hand before anyone could react.
"I'm sorry; I'm sorry for what happened between you and Wyatt!" Emma, who used to be assertive in front of Stella, now apologized without any hint of arrogance.
"Ms. Durham, please don't be like this." Stella was not one to hold a grudge, especially seeing Emma, who had visibly aged ten years in just a few days, and all her resentment had disappeared.
"Let Stella go see Wyatt first," Fiona reminded Emma.
Emma nodded quickly and then led Stella towards the ward.
She said, "Wyatt has been waiting for you."
She wiped away her tears as they walked.
Stella still felt surreal. It wasn't until she looked out the observation window and saw Wyatt lying there with tubes all over his body that a buzz rang in her ears. Instinctively, she turned to find Alexander.
Emma may not have noticed, she said, "You go to that small room, the nurse will give you protective clothing, and then you can go in to see him. Miss White, Wyatt has no will to live right now. I beg you to say some comforting words to him so that he can find the will to live."
"I understand." Stella then gently pulled her hand out of Emma's grip.
Instead of heading in the direction Emma had indicated, she took a few steps back and returned to Alexander's side. She handed him her phone and belongings, saying, "I'll be out soon."
Stella always had a clear mind. She knew what was most important to her right now.
"Okay." Alexander patted her head. "Go ahead."
"Alright!" Stella nodded and then headed in the direction Emma had gestured earlier.
Emma stood still, witnessing the interaction between Stella and Alexander. When she looked at Alexander, there was already a hint of annoyance and resentment in her eyes.
Just then, Fiona's phone suddenly rang.
After exchanging a few words with Alexander, she walked straight to the fire exit to take the call.
Seeing this, Emma walked over to Alexander.
Alexander didn't have a good impression of her and didn't want to engage in much conversation.
However...
"Mr. Beaumont, I didn't expect you to come along. Are you so possessive of Stella?" Emma took the initiative to speak.
Alexander's expression was cold, he said, "We were on our honeymoon trip and rushed over here. You didn't even say thank you; you just started with unpleasant words, which is quite astonishing."
Ryan noticed the situation here. He knew Emma might be about to lose control again. He hurried over.
As soon as he arrived, he heard Emma say, "You know, in fact, Stella still loves Wyatt, right? Otherwise, she wouldn't come back when she heard about Wyatt's accident, abandoned the honeymoon with you. You followed her because you were afraid that once she came back, she couldn't bear to leave Wyatt again, right?"
"Emma, what are you talking about?" Ryan pulled his wife back.
Unexpectedly, Emma was incredibly strong and pushed Ryan away, continuing to speak to Alexander, "Mr. Beaumont, I know this is cruel, but everyone can see that Stella married you because I opposed her marrying Wyatt. She just wanted to provoke Wyatt. We are all respectable people. When Stella comes out later, you should take the initiative to discuss divorce. It's better for both of you."
"What? Do you agree to this marriage now?" Alexander asked coldly.
"Yes, Wyatt likes her; I have no choice." Emma replied.
"Alright if Stella wants a divorce, she will come to me to discuss it. There's no need for you to meddle." Alexander retorted indifferently.
Upon hearing this, Emma's face turned pale. She cursed, "If you want to humiliate yourself, there's nothing I can do!"
Then, Emma sneered and walked away.
She kept encouraging herself in her heart. 'Stella loved Wyatt the most. A woman who had given her best sixteen years to a man would never forget him in her lifetime! As long as I asked for forgiveness, Stella would surely soften her heart!'
In the hospital room, Stella entered and saw Wyatt in his current state. Her emotions were complex.
Sitting down by the bedside, Stella remained silent for a moment before speaking, "How could you let yourself end up like this?"
It seemed like Wyatt's hand on the hospital bed moved slightly.
Stella didn't notice. She lowered her head and fidgeted with her own hands, saying, "Emma said you have no will to live. Do you really want to die?"
"Wyatt, you can't do this!"
"When we were together, I never did anything to hurt you. Even our breakup was straightforward. If you die because of me, do you know how many people will blame me? You can't do this!"
As she spoke, she felt genuinely aggrieved.
She added, "When we were together, you didn't protect me, let others bully me, and now that we're not together, you want to leave me with a lifetime of infamy? Wyatt, I don't want this. I finally took off the shackles I'd carried for over a decade. I don't want to carry any more burdens!"
