Chapter 1361
Hearing Fiona's words, Rose in the front row immediately straightened up.
When Fiona hung up the phone, she turned around and asked, "Has Hubert made any new progress with his drug research?"
"Yep." Fiona nodded with a light smile.
Rose, who was beside Fiona, was used to seeing her either bossy or emotionless.
This super happy look on her face was something Rose had never seen before.
"Even though it's not the final result we want, the progress is so fast. I'll allocate more funds to Hubert, and he'll move even quicker!" Fiona's eyes sparkled as she looked at Rose. "This way, Darwin can come back to me soon."
Rose smiled and nodded. "That would be awesome!"
Fiona, in a great mood, looked out the window.
If Rose were a bit smarter, a bit more observant, and paid more attention to Fiona, she might have noticed.
In Fiona's cheerful state, the spark of joy in her eyes quickly vanished, replaced by a chilling coldness.
On the last working day, the streets and alleys of the city were completely jammed with traffic.
Sitting in the car, Rose started to feel a bit irritated.
But Fiona didn't mind. When they were stuck at an intersection, she saw a dessert shop and got out to buy several large boxes of freshly baked cakes.
"My best friend loves the desserts from this place," Fiona explained to Rose when she got back in the car. "She lives with me, and you'll get to meet her this time."
"Is it Ms. Carey?" Rose asked.
"Yep." Fiona nodded.
Rose said, "She's amazing too."
Fiona smiled. "Don't be nervous; she's very sweet."
Rose responded with a smile.
After passing the most congested area, the internal roads of Emerald Pool became clear.
Rose kept looking out the window.
She had read online about the layout of Darwin and Fiona's mansion.
Looking at the shadows of the trees on both sides of the road, she couldn't help but think to herself, 'Are all these their properties?'
"Mrs. Solomon, I should have gotten out of the car with you earlier to buy some gifts!" Rose suddenly seemed to remember something and patted her forehead.
Fiona replied, "No worries, just say the desserts are from you."
"How can I do that?" Rose looked embarrassed.
Fiona said, "There's nothing wrong with it."
Rose pursed her lips and softly said, "Thank you."
Fiona responded, "Don't mention it."
As they were talking, the car pulled into the garage.
Fiona opened the car door and got out.
A soft figure immediately jumped into her arms. "Mommy, I missed you so much!"
Chicago knew that sneaking out with Charles might make Fiona angry.
On her way back, she had already thought of a strategy to deal with it.
Before Fiona could start getting angry, she rushed up to hug Fiona and acted all cute, hoping to distract Fiona and make her forget about being angry!
"Stop being so clingy," Fiona said, putting her hand on Chicago's little head. "Why didn't you stay out and play for a few more days?"
"Because I missed you." Chicago looked up at Fiona.
She was so adorable that no one could bear to be angry with her when she acted cute.
Rose got out of the car and saw this scene.
This was the first time Rose had seen Darwin's children.
Chicago tilted her head to look at Rose.
"This is Rose Everhart," Fiona introduced.
