Chapter 1275

The meds kicked in fast.

Hubert called the nurse to take Darwin back to his room.

He didn't rush off.

He stood by the observation window, watching Darwin drift into a deep sleep.

It was the first time in days that Darwin had mentioned the New Year.

This morning, Darwin had told Hubert he remembered some dreams about last year's New Year prep, and he was really looking forward to it.

In Hubert's memory, Brooke had often said that ever since Darwin found out about his background, his sense of family had faded.

New Year was supposed to be a time for family reunions. But Darwin always locked himself in his house. It seemed he couldn't face Anniston.

This went on for five or six years before it got better.

So, when Darwin happily talked about last year's New Year prep, Hubert was a bit surprised.

It wasn't until just now that he understood why Darwin was so looking forward to the New Year. Because Darwin had never spent such a family reunion day with Fiona.

Hubert stood there for a bit.

After leaving Darwin's room, he went back to his office.

He turned on his computer and started recording Darwin's treatment notes for the day.

After thinking it over, Hubert included the part about the New Year in the log.

Fiona got back to Emerald Pool.

Chicago filled her in on the whole conversation with Darwin.

"Dad looks thinner. I wonder if he's not doing well over there," she said, sighing as she sat down.

"Sick people are always like that." Charles popped a grape into her mouth. "I lost weight when I was sick before, didn't I, Mom?"

"Yes." Fiona patted Charles's little head. "Why did you decide to play in the living room today?"

Usually, at this time, Charles would be in the study playing on the computer.

"Of course, because I wanted to play with Melissa!" Ashton placed Melissa on a new soft mat in the living room.

Melissa was super cute and lively.

Charles was speechless and looked at Fiona, confused.

Fiona smiled and touched his forehead with hers.

After a while, as usual, she took Charles and Chicago back to their rooms.

After saying goodnight, Fiona dragged her tired body back to her bedroom.

After a hot shower, the fatigue eased a bit. She still didn't go to bed but sat on the sofa and opened an app.

Probably because he knew he was going to meet Charles and Chicago, Darwin's eating was pretty good today, but there was an extra sedative in his meds.

Treatment notes.

Fiona read through the treatment notes.

When she saw the part about the New Year, her heart ached sharply.

Then her tears flowed like rain.

A strong sense of hatred suddenly welled up in her heart.

If it weren't for Robert and Annie, the accident before the New Year wouldn't have happened!

Darwin wouldn't have been severely injured and missing for half a year.

If it weren't for these life-threatening injuries, he wouldn't have post-traumatic stress disorder, which wouldn't have worsened his condition.

If none of this had happened, Fiona would have taken Darwin to see a psychologist after the New Year.

If any issues were found, she would have stayed with him for timely treatment.

How could it have gotten to the point where his illness was uncontrollable when it flared up?

An inexplicable flame burned in Fiona's blood.

The next day, an incident caused a stir abroad.
