Chapter 82 I can't Stand Dirty Men!

When the charity auction wrapped up, Janna snagged herself a set of primo pearl jewelry.

There were earrings, a necklace, a brooch, and a bracelet.

It was way more low-key compared to that $3 million diamond necklace.

After the auction, there was a cocktail party.

Janna had someone give the organizers a heads-up and then bounced with Stuart, who was all suited up and looking intense.

Seeing this, Hathaway tailed them.

She felt like she had a killer convo with Janna today, and Janna seemed to dig her.

So, she figured she'd strike while the iron was hot and find a slick excuse to swap contact info.

There was a curtain blocking the way from the venue to the elevator.

As Hathaway was about to step through the curtain, she heard the bodyguard next to Janna ask in some foreign language, "Ms. Rhoads, isn't it kinda over the top to give such a pricey gift to someone you just met?"

Hathaway knew Janna had lived in some small foreign country for ages, and most of her close crew were from that time.

To get on Janna's good side, she had even found a teacher to learn that language.

Unexpectedly, the first time it came in handy was for eavesdropping.

"What do you know?" Janna's tone was cheerful, not ticked off at the bodyguard's question. "Yesterday, I had dinner with William, and he also praised her. I checked out all the projects she's been through, and she's definitely talented and virtuous. If her character is also solid, she's got great potential with the right guidance."

"Ms. Rhoads, you don't mean..." Stuart was floored.

Before he could finish, Janna nodded knowingly. "Yep, I do have that thought."

She was getting older and found it harder to juggle the complex affairs of the conglomerate.

Even though she had a top-notch management team, there still needed to be someone to oversee the company. Otherwise, her useless descendants would wreck it.

At this point, the elevator arrived.

Hathaway stood behind the curtain and didn't follow them.

Janna had found a successor? Fiona?

Who the heck was this Fiona?

But one thing Hathaway knew for sure was that it definitely wasn't Fiona Woods.

She racked her brain, thinking of all the powerful families she knew with someone named Fiona, but came up empty.

However, the bodyguard just said it was someone she had just met?

So, it must be a powerful family in Bay City?

Is there anyone named Fiona among the powerful families in Bay City?

She bit her lip. 'No way!'

She had already gotten close to Janna; she couldn't let some random person snatch this opportunity to gain Janna's support!

But honestly, had she been at odds with anyone named Fiona?

One 'Fiona,' a secretary, was competing with her for a man, and now another unknown small-time mogul named 'Fiona' had somehow gotten close to Janna and was gunning for the position of successor.

Fiona distanced herself from the socializing and hid in the restroom.

At that moment, she sneezed twice.

"Who's talking about me?" Fiona muttered.

Then she took out her phone from her handbag and saw a message from Janna.

Fiona now had a rough idea of who Janna was.

She majored in business in college.

Janna was a figure in her textbooks, someone even more unreachable than the likes of Anniston.

She was like a goddess looking down on the world.

Janna wanted to give her a gift?

Fiona lowered her eyes and had a sudden thought.

If she teamed up with Janna, Janna could probably keep Darwin in check.

As soon as the thought popped up, Fiona squashed it.

Janna was being kind to her despite not being related; she should be grateful, not thinking of using her.

Fiona replied to the message: [Thank you, Ms. Rhoads, but there's no need for a gift. Let me know when you come to Serene City, and I'll be your guide if I'm free!]

She put away her phone, left the room, washed her hands slowly, fixed her hair, and left the restroom.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw two people in the hallway, making out like there was no tomorrow.

Fiona was startled.

The two, disturbed from their passionate moment, stopped kissing and looked at her.

The guy wasn't unfamiliar to her; it was Eric, who had given Fiona a hard time today.

The woman wasn't someone from tonight's banquet.

She had a killer figure, but her makeup was so heavy that Fiona couldn't tell what she really looked like.

"Get a room ready and wait for me." Eric slipped his business card into the woman's cleavage.

The woman playfully scolded him and gave Fiona an annoyed look before swaying her hips and leaving.

Eric adjusted his tie, which the woman had messed up, and smiled at Fiona like a sly fox.

"Ms. Woods, sorry you had to see that. I was actually looking for you but ran into an enthusiastic lady." He seemed very candid.

"Looking for me?" Fiona kept a safe distance.

Eric had drunk quite a bit and looked sober, but there was a clear hint of drunkenness in his eyes.

"Yeah." Eric took two steps toward her and rudely reached out to her face.

Fiona frowned and dodged. "Mr. Porter, let's just talk. I don't want any physical contact."

"Your hair was stuck to your lips," Eric said innocently.

Fiona brushed it aside herself, and it was true.

Seeing this, Eric leaned against the wall.

He was quite handsome, and his green eyes had a seductive, dreamy quality when drunk.

Leaning against the wall, he exuded a sense of decadence.

"Ms. Woods, after sleeping with a man for five years, aren't you tired of him?" Eric asked.

Fiona stayed silent.

She had seen Eric and Hathaway talking a lot today.

They seemed to have a good relationship.

She roughly understood that Eric was probably here to persuade or threaten her to leave Darwin.

"Mr. Porter, you can stay curious!" With that, Fiona turned to leave.

The next second, Eric grabbed her hand and slammed her against the wall.

Fiona was shocked. "Eric, there are cameras in the hallway!"

"Really?" Eric leaned in close, his lips almost touching Fiona's.

Fiona turned away in disgust.

He missed and laughed. "Ms. Woods, you smell so good."

Fiona felt a bit nauseous.

"Don't worry, I'm not into pressuring women," Eric said softly, "Ms. Woods, how about me? I'm a non-marriage type, so you'll never have to worry about being the other woman. If you want, you can live with me. Whatever Mr. Solomon gives you, I'll double it!"

Finally, he added, "I really admire a smart woman like you!"

Eric was very confident in his charm.

He could charm any woman he set his sights on. It was just a matter of time – ten minutes or an hour, that was the only question.

Fiona chuckled.

Then she leaned into Eric's ear. "But unfortunately, I can't stand dirty men!"
